Sunshine Cottage In Norfolk

I just want to note as a response to this review that this guest was happy with my home and hot tub prior to me having to submit a damage claim for damaged and missing furniture and items. He of course claims he did not do it and is now upset. We messaged multiple times throughout his stay and his only mention of anything wrong was shortly after he checked in he mentioned that the toaster didn't work, a door knob was not attached, and the coffee table was wobbly. I then asked if he would like these things taken care of during or after his stay, which he did not respond to. Once during the middle of his stay I did go and check on the hot tub because he said the jets weren't working and it wasn't heating. What I found was that the water return filter was plugged with leaves (which wasn't the case when he arrived) so I cleaned it out, started the jets, and added chemicals. He confirmed by the end of that day that it was working properly and heating just fine. I know it was in great shape when he arrived as I personally check the hot tub for clarity, temperature, and chemicals prior to each guest's arrival and after they check out. The fact that there were leaves in it tells me they used it, which is just fine, but if it was indeed filthy he never noted it to me prior to this review. When this guest checked out I did my normal walk through of the property and found strange items missing such as a kitchen bar stool, a bedroom wall mirror and the living room coffee table was indeed wobbly but also had a large spill/stain on the top. He had moved around literally nearly every piece of decor on shelving and dressers/etc. I understand needing to use spaces when you use a house but I have never had a guest move around all of my decor and not put it back where they found it. He claimed he didn't have to because he didn't sign anything that said he did. Just very strange all around. I hesitated to do a damage claim for fear of a bad review but VRBO assured me that retaliation reviews were not going to be allowed; however they have been no help in getting this one taken down so I felt the need to respond. I encourage any guests considering my place to read the multiple other positive reviews I have received from other guests. I live in Norfolk and take great care to make sure my guests have a great stay!
