Clean, quiet, and a great view of the morning sunrise over the lake. Cabin has a nice spacious layout. Pool table was an excellent addition. Kitchen is well stocked. A great trip!
My family and I had a great stay, the cabin is fully equipped, very clean, and very comfortable. Perfect place to fish, play some pool and disconnect. Highly recommended!
This cabin was the perfect little getaway for our family girls weekend. We were able to relax in comfort amd enjoy the peace and quiet. Cant wait to visit again!
Cabin was nice, beds were good, enjoyed the pool table. Would have been nice to be able to drive our side by side on the road coming into the property. The description in the ad stated no driving on there property but it didn’t state that the roads coming into the cabin were all included in the no riding zone. Found that out after arriving.
We had a wonderful time at the place. It was nicely kept (cleanliness, and ample of room), great privacy and amenities. We highly recommend it.
Thank you to the host for providing us their wonderful place to stay.
Pictures don’t do this justice! We loved the recliners, couches, tv, and reading lamps for rainy days. Lots of places to sit for a meal. Outside deck looked onto the lake and everything was so peaceful. We really enjoyed the fire pit area as well. This is a very quiet setting which was perfect. Gravel road to take walks on—never even heard any traffic from the highway.
We spent a lot of time in northern MN near Marcell and Big Fork and this is the place to be. Very clean, tons of space, beautiful lake, large TV and pool table - what else could you ask for? Communication with the owner was top notch. We received all the details for our stay days in advance of our trip. Highly recommend the Boat House and hope to stay there again!
What a great weekend! This is a clean, spacious, and well-furnished cabin on a peaceful, sparsely populated lake. Communication and check-in were smooth and easy, and the amenities were exactly as described. We used the kayaks provided to explore and reconnect with the sights and sounds of nature on Jack the Horse Lake. Star viewing from the dock was magnificent! Our expectations were exceeded - I highly recommend this rental.
The cabin was in a beautiful location on the lake. The inside was very clean and spacious. Pool table was a bonus! My son loved it. The lake access was nice and the cabin had a canoe and 2 kayaks you could use. Kitchen was stocked with all the appliances you would need and they had lots of board games and card games too. Fire pit area was nice but we couldn’t use it due to a fire ban the week we were there. The cabin was a couple miles off the main road on a gravel road but the directions given were accurate. We had a wonderful experience here!
This was a last minute find for an up north wedding. The listing says sleeps 8, but it sleeps 6 and can accommodate 8. You could tell it is newer, as it only has the basics for the stay (dishes, linens, and appliances). It was nice to have the pool table and a couple games. The access to the water is shallow so was able to fish, but not the best catch spot. The cabin is tucked way in the back on a narrow dirt road, where you have to veer to the right to access when coming to the end. Another sign letting people know would have been an extra help as the service is spotty for maps.
We had a truly wonderful and peaceful stay at this cabin. The location is incredibly pristine — deep in the woods, quiet, and perfect for a relaxing retreat. The cabin itself was very comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen and a clean, inviting hot tub/jacuzzi. We even saw deer nearby, which added to the charm. The nearby lake is beautiful, with crystal-clear water. We loved that it was private and had free access to canoes and kayaks. There’s also a connected lake that felt even more secluded and serene — absolutely stunning. We also took a short 15-minute drive to a nearby beach, which was another highlight of the trip. It was quiet, peaceful, and not crowded at all — the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the natural surroundings. The cabin owner was extremely helpful and kind. During a short power outage (4–5hr), they provided lights and even gave us a discount for a pontoon ride as a thoughtful gesture. We took the opportunity to enjoy the silence and do some meditation, which made our experience even more special. One of the most remarkable moments was after our stay — we realized we had accidentally left behind a gold chain valued at over 2,000. We contacted the owner, and to our relief and gratitude, she found it and generously shipped it back to us without hesitation. That level of honesty and care is rare and deeply appreciated. This cabin is perfect if you’re looking for a quiet, nature-filled getaway with a trustworthy and kind host. Highly recommended!
Very well taken care of cabin in an extremely relaxing setting. It was very clean, despite having neighbors a couple hundred yards away, felt very private. The Loons & Frogs are the only sounds around sunrise and sunset, with a pair of eagles talking to each other as they fished. Would highly recommend for a place to paddle and decompress.
