Historic 1920s Cabin on Waupaca Chain O' Lakes

Welcome to our family's cabin! A couple important things to consider before you read further:
- This is a summer cabin. There is no central heat or insulation. It can be heated in chilly weather but please read the note “AC/Heat” below if you plan to stay in the Spring or Fall.
-Guests must provide their own bath and beach towels. All bed linens, blankets, and pillows are provided.
-7 night stay is required for July and August (Sat.-Sat.)

ABOUT: Castle Point is a rustic cabin/cottage located directly on the Chain O' Lakes. It was built over 100 years ago and has been in the same family ever since. We provide a vintage Northwoods experience. The cabin is old and rustic but with tons of character and charm and is very well loved. We do our best to provide a clean and comfortable space with various updates and some modern amenities. If you are looking for a fully updated space or hotel experience this may not be the place for you. Also please note that there are numerous steps leading down to the lake (see photos).

The cabin is situated on a peaceful 1+ acre wooded lot overlooking Beasley Lake. There is a large private dock with room for a boat. Inside there are 2 bedrooms (1 queen, 2 twins) plus a screened-in sleeping porch with 4 twin beds. Amenities include a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower, air conditioning, screened porch with view of the lake, dining porch, seasonal gas fireplace, wi-fi, smart TV, DVD player, board games, outdoor fire pit, charcoal grill. 2 kayaks, 2 canoes, beach chairs for the dock, water noodles and firewood are all provided.

Maximum occupancy is 8. Sorry no pets. No parties, events or large group gatherings.

BED LINENS/TOWELS: We provide all sheets/blankets and pillows for the beds. We do NOT provide towels except for hand towels in the kitchen and bathroom. You must bring your own bath and beach towels.

BEDROOMS/SLEEPING PORCH: There are 2 bedrooms--one with a queen bed and the other with 2 twin beds. Additionally, there are 4 twin beds on a screened-in sleeping porch. There is a ceiling fan and floor fans for use on the porch. Fleece blankets are also provided for each porch bed.

AC/HEAT: The bedrooms and living room have air conditioning and heat. Each room has it's own mini-split wall unit or window unit, no central air or heat. The cabin can be heated very well but please keep in mind if you are staying early or late in the season during chilly weather you will need to heat each room individually. Space heaters are provided for the bathroom and kitchen. The gas fireplace can also produce heat but it is not guaranteed to be operable. (We will try to have it on if the high temperature is 65 or below). The cabin is not available to rent during the winter/freezing weather.

THE LAKES/SURROUNDING AREA: Beasley Lake is a peaceful no-wake lake connected by a short channel to Long Lake and the rest of the Chain. The shoreline of Beasley is natural so there is no beach or sandy bottom but the water at the end of the dock is deep and clear and great for swimming. There is a ladder for easy in and out of the water. Larger "wake lakes" are adjacent to Beasley for boating, waterskiing and tubing. The Upper Chain is also easily accessible by nearby Beasley Creek for kayaking and canoeing in a tranquil state park setting. We provide two kayaks and two canoes. Beasley Creek is also a great shallow spot for kids to play. Tom Thumb mini golf is two doors down from the cottage and Hartman Creek State Park is within walking/biking distance. Boat launches and rentals, restaurants and shopping are also nearby.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

My great-grandfather built Castle Point in the early 1920s and our family has been gathering there every summer since. We have been renting to guests for over 20 years and have some who return every summer.

What makes this property unique

Castle Point is one of the oldest cottages on the Chain O' Lakes. The original structure was an ice house (current kitchen) that was added on to over the years. It's been in the same family for over 100 years. Some special features are a huge private wooded lot, multiple screened-in porches overlooking the lake, stone fireplace, vaulted ceiling with log beams and a 1950s knotty pine kitchen. "Castle Point" is actually the small peninsula at the entrance of Beasley Creek from Beasley Lake that was once part of the property.
