Southwest Portland, a neighbourhood in Portland, is home to this holiday home. Portlandia and McMenamins Crystal Ballroom are local landmarks, and the area's natural beauty can be seen at Tom McCall Waterfront Park and Hoyt Arboretum. Check out an event or a game at Moda Center, and consider making time for Oregon Zoo, a top attraction not to be missed. Fishing offers a great chance to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with hiking and cycling nearby.
Great stay at the City Forest Retreat. The property is exactly as advertised and very well equip for all we needed. The location is quiet and peaceful, easy to access downtown, NW, NE and SE Portland.
We had a wonderful stay in Portland! These accommodations were amazing! Cozy bed, great large shower, gas fireplace for cozy evenings, great location and comfortable seating area. Book your stay! You won’t be disappointed!!!! Would stay there again if we ever return to a Portland!!
Wonderful house with incredible forest view. Host was very kind and accomodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and hope the property will be available for our next trip to Portland.
We had an excellent stay at City Forest Retreat. The property was clean and modern, it was a perfect home base for a trip to Portland. The owner was easy to communicate with, timely and pleasant. We would definitely stay again.

Thanks for the nice review, Joe. Hope you were able to finalize the car sale! Thank you for taking such good care of my place-- it doesn't look like you were even there ;)
The location and views were spectacular! A true escape from the city surrounded by cedars and doug firs. Everything from the blankets and pillows to the cookware was high quality, and despite the small size of the kitchen, it truly had everything I needed to cook a full meal. One thing to note is that there is a small, high window in the bedroom with no curtain, and while it wasn’t a problem for me personally, if you are sensitive to morning/evening light, you’ll want to bring an eye mask.Would definitely stay here again! Perfect for a solo stay or a romantic getaway.
A fantastic stay ! This little cozy forest retreat is perfect for you and someone else. Comfortable bed and AMAZING shower. Heather was extremely courteous offering any sort of help and or guidance about the city. 10/10 would recommend. Will be back. Additionally the cleanliness of this spot was also a 10/10 not a speck of dust, stain, frayed or torn anything. Thank you Heather !
The house was immaculate and James and Heather were amazing hosts. We didn’t expect to spend a lot of time at the VRBO while in Portland, but we ended up spending most of our mornings here drinking coffee and staring out into the beautiful forest. And when we did leave, it was an easy 10 minute Uber into the city. Such a wonderful place to spend a few days!
Heather’s cottage is so cozy and peaceful! Definitely enjoyed the fireplace, comfortable bed and beautiful bathroom. Quiet and very private. The only thing I would mention is that the home is located on a steep hill with a dead end. Parking and turning around is quite tight and challenging. There is a staircase outside down into the unit. These both were a bit of a surprise and a challenge for my nearly 80 year old mother that was traveling with me.
Super place for adult couple who wants quiet accommodations
This was a great place for our stay while grandson graduated from college. Comfortable accommodations. FANTASTIC shower!!! Beautiful setting. We never saw any deer, but did see a coyote several blocks away. Easy access to Interstates, downtown, Multnomah Village. Did I mention the wonderful shower? (Worth mentioning more than once.) The owner even left some nice treats for us! We heartily recommend!
I had such an incredible stay here while tending an important work project. It was so deeply peaceful and restorative to be in such a beautiful wooded setting while still being right in Portland. It was cozy, clean, beautifully curated, comfortable, quiet, and a true treasure of a stay. Thank you, sooo much!!
