Absolutely beautiful view with a perfect private beach! Unique home that was great for two families with several kids 7-15 years old and a dog - climbing/steps to lofts and beach required. Close access to lots of nature activities. Quick communication with owner.

Disliked: Cleanliness, communication
The location on Lake Michigan was great. It was like having our own private beach. There are a lot of stairs down to the beach, so keep that in mind if accessibility is a concern. In regards to the cottage, cleanliness was a bit of an issue. Surfaces were grimy, there were cobwebs everywhere, and we encountered a few cockroaches and mice. We felt like we needed to clean everything before bringing out stuff in. Many lightbulbs were out, which would not have been a big deal if we didn't have stormy weather on several days with limited natural lighting. The property owner was challenging to get a hold of, and I had to send several messages and phone calls to get the key code on arrival day. We were overall fine with staying in an older cottage, but it really felt like a few basic hospitality needs were not met, and like we had to do more chores at the start of our vacation. This was not a concern for us, but something to consider as we were unaware ahead of time- access within the home is limited to some of the sleeping spaces. One bedroom and bathroom are down stairs, which requires use of a spiral staircase to access, so can be more difficult for those with joint and/or balance issues. Two beds are in a lofted area with a vertical ladder to access, which can be fun for kids, but not appropriate for all adults. Although it was cooler weather when we stayed, my sister and niece still found this area very very warm, and ended up sleeping on the couches on the main floor.
