Beachfront Bolivar bungalow - bring the kids, the dogs, and fishing rods!
Our Rock Lobster beach house is the perfect beach front family or fishing getaway on the Texas gulf coast. Enjoy the slower rhythms of Bolivar Peninsula while still being close to Crystal Beach. You are able to access all that Galveston has to offer with a quick trip on the ferry. Sunrise and sunset are tough to beat from the front porch with a coffee or a cocktail staring out at the unobstructed views of the ocean. Go explore the island too - rent some golf carts for beach rides, play putt putt golf, or hit up a water park. The fishing is great here too, whether you want to fish off the beach or charter a guide in the bay. We are also home to fantastic live music on the island - from a laid-back acoustic show to a full blown band rocking the house! Why go anywhere else? Come see us, relax, and stay a while!

The house was perfectly situated for what I wanted—a quick quiet getaway to the beach. The house is beachfront with a nice deck to relax on while watching the waves roll in. The segment of beach had little vehicular traffic which helped keep the peaceful vibe. The house was comfortable and clean as well as tastefully decorated.
The view stood out. It was a quiet and peaceful location. The amenities were great. Decor was tasteful and not overdone, nicely decorated and comfortable.
Exceptional! We will be back! Bungalow had all necessary accommodations needed for stay without bringing from home. My husband and I enjoyed quality time with one another. We will be back!!!
We had a wonderful time, it was very peaceful in December. Some days were very foggy and others were clear. The house is very comfortable and loved that it was right on the beach. Would be happy to return!
Nice, clean property, very quiet part of the beach which was nice. Lots of shell hunting. Loved it for our weekend getaway!

This house was small, cozy and quaint, but definitely did not sleep 10 people comfortably. If it’s just two or three of you looking for something simple, this is the perfect house on the water. However, if you are looking for a luxury, this is not it. I will say, though, when we need it to increase the temperature of the water to hot (from lukewarm), it was very easy to reach the owner and remedy the situation.
We absolutely loved our stay at this property! It was perfect in every way — super dog-friendly, just a short walk to the beach, and thoughtfully stocked with beach toys, chairs, and everything you’d need for a fun day in the sun. The home was clean, bright, and full of natural light. One of our favorite highlights was watching the fireworks — it felt like we had front-row seats! It truly made our trip memorable. We’d come back in a heartbeat. Highly recommend!
Such a peaceful location. Very little activity on our part of the beach and lots of shells and sea glass to examine. The house was pristine and the owners were great to work with.
Three of us stay at a Texas beach twice a year. This was one of our top picks and will be staying here again. Everything about this place is perfect for off season. The kitchen is better equipped (including spices) than any other we've ever stayed at. It was so so so clean and comfortable. We watched dolphins in the morning and had fires in the pit at night. All new appliances. Comfortable living room and dining area, very spacious. More seashells than I've ever seen on any beach in Texas. The shaded porch was huge and well equipped with new, sturdy tall high-backed chairs and adirondacks that made gazing at the beach easy. There was a small back porch better for star gazing but no chairs. Our biggest plus was being right on the beach and the privacy of our own house. It's off season February, so may be a busier beach in the summer, but the solitude was amazing. The sunset colors could be seen from the front porch, but the sunrise is worth getting up for!
Stayed here for three nights with my husband, our two young children, my mom & aunt, plus our two dogs & the house was the perfect size for our group. The house itself is cozy & clean, with beautiful ocean views from the main living area/kitchen. The location is perfect: beachfront in a quiet, uncrowded area of the peninsula. The owners are helpful with providing any info needed. We will be back!
Host were great throughout the process. They communicated well when we had questions, and they let us know in advance when housekeeping would be done so that we could begin our stay.
The property itself was clean and in good repair. It's located directly on the beach. It was easy for us to go back and forth as needed.
Wonderful experience all around!
WOW! What an amazing place and space! A beautiful secluded beach, marvelous home, and relaxing retreat. We loved being so close to our destination of High Island for the spring bird migration. The steps from the deck down to the backyard and beach were perfect! Can’t wait to come back and bring family and friends. A true gem!
My husband and I stayed 4 nights in the wonderful oceanfront home. It is wonderfully decorated in seaside tones that makes you feel truly immersed with the beach. The home was furnished with everything you need. There are plenty of chairs to sit on the porches, in the lower level and right beside the beach with a fire pit. We did not use the grill or shower outside but those we brand new also. What made it extremely special was that there was very little people on the beach because you are so far away from the small community homes. So when I would sit on the porch and look out to the gulf there was rarely anyone in my view. I felt it was just us and the ocean. Loved it. It was a slice of Heaven! Just what we wanted to relax and get away. Also, very important was Matt the owner responded super quick to any questions we may have needed which is very reassuring when renting a home. Will most surely come back and will recommend to friends. Also, the beach is great for shells and very clean compared to other places on the beach.
We had an amazing stay. The house is beautiful, cozy, and well-maintained. The beach is gorgeous! We were there with kids of various ages and a dog, and everyone was very happy. We will definitely come back.
We had a great stay overall, and the location is truly the highlight—right on the beach with a lot of privacy and very little nearby foot traffic. It was quiet, relaxing, and perfect for beachcombing. The balcony seating and outdoor shower were especially nice touches. The home itself is well-kept with newer appliances, a functional kitchen, and both a Keurig and standard coffee maker (with filters provided), which was appreciated. There were also thoughtful extras like toiletries available if needed.A couple things to be aware of: the linens and towels are washed with a strongly scented detergent (Gain/Febreze), which may be noticeable if you’re sensitive to fragrance.During our stay, the sliding glass door lock broke late Sunday evening. The host responded promptly Monday morning, and the repair was completed Tuesday morning. The beds may vary depending on preference—one was quite firm, while another was softer but on a very squeaky frame that made movement noticeable. Also worth noting that vehicles do occasionally drive along the beach in front of the home, though it wasn’t frequent. One logistical note: the VRBO directions feature led us to a location about 1.5 miles away, so it may be helpful to confirm the exact address with the host before arrival. The host was very responsive via text and helped us quickly get to the correct location.Overall, the location and setup made for a really enjoyable stay.
