About this property
Hideaway at Sunflower Hideaway on Toledo Bend Lake!
About this space
No cleaning fee, there is a deposit to save you from having to buy insurance. No damages , you get back. Early check in, late check out! Short walk across property to lake. Over 90 five star reviews on another platform! Lot of bang for your buck. At the end of 2 dead ends. Hideaway at Sunflower Hideaway. Sounds of nature, fresh air & wooded lot beckons harried couples, birders, & eager fishermen here. On 1 acre of land, the 1/1 mobile home cottage is in the back of a neighborhood, on a quiet cove, centrally located in the heart of Toledo Bend Lake. Walk across the yard and enjoy private water in water cove. Bird feeders, birdbaths, nestboxes, & even a Chimney Swift tower will tempt you to become a bird watcher if not already. Sunflower whimsy will bring smiles. Spotty Wi-Fi & cell service can be a blessing or an excuse if the office calls during your escape. Owners live next door, close enough should a need arise, but far enough away for your privacy.
For Fishermen:
Centrally located near many tournaments. A few miles to Harborlight Marina & Pendleton Harbor, 17 miles to Cypress Bend. Our private drive connects two dead ends. No need to back up, just pull through! Plenty of space to park trailer. Park close to door for ease of unloading and loading electronics, iceboxes, etc. There is a neighborhood launch several doors down within walking distance, not the best, but free! Marinas close by with a small fee. Electrical outlet and cords easily accessible to charge up boat battery. Pier is in a deep cove, where you can dock your boat. Water hose to rinse off boat. No boat, no problem, have 2 kayaks. A tandem, that is a fishing kayak, and a single. Canoe if you are experienced. Fishing from lakefront or pier behind owners house is welcomed. Both Texas and Louisiana fishing licenses work here.
Comfort at Cottage:
There are 5 steps to climb to enter under a large covered deck with outdoor seating made for relaxing. Chairs down by the lake also. Patio to star gaze or watch sun rise over the trees. Charcoal grill, some charcoal provided. Kitchen does not have garbage disposal or ice maker but has most everything else you could need including crock pot & blender. Drip coffee maker or a Keurig if you want to bring your pods. Ground Coffee and all the fixings. Queen bed in bedroom will have soft cotton sheets, blankets, and comforter. Black out blinds help for a good night sleep. Futon in living room can become a full bed, while still having use of another couch & LaZBoy recliner. While might be crowded for 4 adults, a couple and put 1 adult friend or 2 kids in living room should be comfortable. Table will seat 3, and 2 stools at kitchen bar. Smart TV from WiFi (signal is boosted from owner's house, can be spotty) rolls behind the futon if you prefer to look out the double windows & enjoy the wooded lot from the comfort of the living room. Books, games, puzzles too.
Birders:
2 Chimney Swift towers, 1 by lake, 1 at cottage, are occupied aprox. Mar through Oct. In those 2 months you might get to observe large flocks of migrating Swifts swirling & going down tower. Great variety of birds depending on season from Woodpeckers to Hummingbirds. Beautiful Eastern Bluebird & sweet Chickadees have nested n boxes visible from cottage. Cute Titmouse, elegant Cardinals, talkative Wrens, fluttery Finches, singing Mockingbirds are regulars. Crows might wake you up or notify you of Eagle or Hawk in area! Various Herons down by water.
Treat:
What is a bed AND breakfast without breakfast? Homemade egg/sausage/cheese muffins wait in fridge that you can heat & eat at your convenience, juice in fridge. Usually pizza is in the freezer for late arrivals or a quick meal.
Outdoors belongs to Mother Nature, and have to share with my husband! Watch for spiders & snakes, poison ivy too. Watch your step, roots, sticks stickers and vines around. Hubby's job is generators, his work supplies doesoverflow onto our 1 acre of land. My landscaping sucks, work in progress, but still relaxing to sit and listen to crickets & frogs at night or enjoy the quietness of the morning. Pesky amazing squirrels can find sunflower seeds and eat before the stalk comes up or flower can bloom. If not in a burn ban, & weather permitting for safe burn, we have a burn area with wood or yard debris available. Beaver, raccoon, possum sightings are possible. Short drive to hiking trails and even kayak water trail.
Other things to note:
You can stay at a hotel that you think IT is special, or you can stay where host knows YOU are special! Sunflower Hideaway is clean and I think you will find comfy. Nothing fancy, feel free to put your feet up. I have tried to provide items to fulfill what you might need or want for your hideaway to be very enjoyable.
