Come Stay Off-Grid in Michigan's Beautiful Upper Peninsula
When you stay at Jordon Off-Grid Cabin—The J.O.C.—you are up close and personal with natural beauty and wildlife. The log cabin and surrounding land are in the prime location for hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, ATVing, snowshoeing, hiking, fishing, bird watching, and more! Snowmobilers have direct access from the cabin to the snowmobile trail. No trailering to a parking spot or riding on the road!
Bobcat Cabin is so named because of the beautiful feline caught on our trail cam shortly after installation. The log cabin is a 396 square foot vacation rental that can fit up to 4 adults. There is a queen bed in the downstairs, a full-sized bed in the loft (recommend only one person sleep in the loft, as the ceiling is low), and a convertible chaise-bed that can sleep one person. (We also have a pack-n-play available by request.)
The cabin sits on 36 acres of privately owned land that is surrounded on three sides by the Ottawa National Forest. It is fully off-grid, and has indoor heating and electricity powered by a whole house solar system and liquid propane gas. It also has a deep water well, indoor plumbing, and a complete septic system to provide all the modern comforts you appreciate while still being in a secluded natural environment.
Note: The cabin is accessible up a short, steep gravel driveway off the highway. You can still hear traffic noise from the cabin, although you cannot see the cars and trucks driving by.

Lovely little cabin. Sparkling clean, well equipped, comfortable bed. The owners were easy to contact, quickly responded and communicated clearly and warmly. Highly recommend this venue. Fair price, property was as described. We chose it for its “get away” feel and easy access to Porcupine Mountains, waterfall hikes and fall colors. Perfect!

If you have the option, stay here! I could write volumes about how much I loved staying here. Let me put it this way, after my trip, when I got home, I started considering ways I could make my home more like this cabin. My wife and I had some of the best time of our trip during our cabin stay. We are already planning another trip that will allow us another stay.
Our cabin stay was great. It is off the grid so you can relax in the peace and quiet of nature. Immaculate, and everything in good condition. A little tricky to find but GPS brings you right to it along with the fire number. We enjoyed it very much and hope that you do as well.

We appreciate you! Next time, if you didn’t enjoy it this go-around, you should check out Sandpoint Fishing Charters in Calumet for some Lake Superior fishing. We’ve got a connection :)
Perfect cozy retreat for my wife and I. The privacy of the property is fabulous. Close enough to explore the keweenaw peninsula. Cabin was spotless clean. Nothing was missing.
We stayed at Bobcat Cabin for two days but we wish we could have stayed longer! The cabin was exceptionally clean and the scenery was gorgeous. Our grandsons learned a bit about solar energy and energy conservation during our stay. Very cozy place! We would stay here again!

What a great thing to hear :). The Jordon’s love the kids :). Please come back again. If you didn’t enjoy it this time, we’ve got a hiking trail just off the driveway that will take you all the way to the snowmobile trail. It’s a nice hike and you will more than likely see a bunch of different wildlife.
The cabin was exactly as described. My wife and I are very happy with the experience.

Just as amazing and beautiful as you see in the listing, the property was just incredible. My girlfriend and I enjoyed everything there was to the property and the area.Running on solar and being very easy to see how electric consumption is with appliances and all, you also get a good experience understanding how everything can consume energy. So much beautiful forestry and naturally beautiful sight seeing just about everywhere.I'd recommend to anyone looking for a nice cabin that is well maintained and has everything listed exactly the same, nothing disappointed and out stay was one to remember.A perfect place to be away and have your privacy. We definitely look forward to returning to this cabin in the near future!
After 3 nights in the Porcupine Wilderness the Bobcat Cabin was the perfect place to come back to. It was cozy and had everything we needed. Its simplicity and self-reliance makes it the perfect nature getaway. We were there when it rained and the hosts have made it the perfect spot to curl up with a book or take a midday nap. They were also very accommodating and responsive. We can’t wait to get back and explore more of the nearby trails. (If you stay here, heads up that VRBO links the address about 12 minutes south of the property. Enter the address left by the hosts manually.)

And what a perfect guest! Thank you for staying at our cabin. Not sure if you had the opportunity to hike O Kim De Kun Falls just up the road from us, but if not, when you come back you should give it a go :)
The prooerty was not difficult to find at all. The owners were very attentive to anything we needed and answered all our questions quickly. The property was clean and organized with everything youd need in the kitchen, bathroom, etc. There were many sights to see, trails to walk, and places to go all within a relatively short driving distance.

Thank you very much for staying with us. We are happy that you all enjoyed your stay and were able to get out and about to see the wonderful sights that the Upper Peninsula has to offer!
Our completely off-grid cabin was built with comfort in mind, so we are happy that you all were nice and comfortable.
We are preparing the cabin for hunting and snowmobile season, so if you all are in to either, please come back and visit us soon!

My mother and I came up from the suburbs of Chicago for a little girls trip and was the best decision ever ! Everything was spectacular, and like one of the reviewers mentioned if you are heat sensitive I would not come back until it cools up at night or take a cool shower to beat the heat 🙂 . The cabin was the perfect size with the essentials like a kitchen, bathroom/shower and a very comfortable queen bed. It has a very cute front porch you can star gaze from and not get eaten by the mosquitos or you can enjoy from the grassy front yard with the fire pit. Definitely will recommend to friends and family and I will definitely be back. Thank you so much Evelyn & Todd for this amazing experience where we got to enjoy looking at the Milky Way !

Jhoanna,
We are so happy that you all were able to spend quality time together. One of the goals that we wanted to achieve when we built the cabin was for folks to be able to just get away and enjoy the outdoors, and it seems as though you all were able to do that!
Next time you all come up, be sure to go and see the Paulding Lights which are less that 25 minutes from the cabin, and also hike O Kun-de-kun falls which is about a 3 min drive from the cabin.
We definitely understand the temp issue and come next summer, we will have a nice chilly solution in place. But for now, with the temps dropping, the cabin should be more than comfy beginning this week.
Again, thank you for staying at jordon-offgrid and thank you for the honest assessment..we appreciate you!

Wonderfully secluded for being right off the highway!
Wife and I had a really great time at this tiny cabin. Even though it's right off the highway, the traffic noise is pretty low thanks to the hill you go up to get to it. We saw a deer while sitting outside one day and fireflies at night.
We really enjoyed the location being so close to Houghton (50 minutes) and Ontonagon (25 minutes), which gave us excuses to go out and sightsee and beach during the day.
The cabin does get pretty warm on hot days and it takes a bit to cool down at night, but the cabin's batteries are enough to have a fan running at night until it cools off. Just word of warning if you're heat sensitive and planning a trip in the middle of July like we did 😅
Highly recommended regardless, glad we found this spot!

We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us at Jordon Off-Grid! There is an abundance of wildlife on our property, and we are happy you all had a chance to see one of our local friends :). Had you gone into the area of our property that we call deer field you may have seen more deer, and then some!
Also, if you had a chance to make it 10 minutes south, you would have been in Bruce Crossing proper and would have had access to a few bars and restaurants. If you didn’t, then maybe during your next stay with us you can explore those establishments.
Regarding the temp of the cabin, we are taking your concern seriously, and are looking into a solar mini split for future visitors to be more comfortable during the warmer months. Thank you for the suggestion and for staying with us!

This was a great experience to see what it's like to vacation "Off the Grid". You had everything you needed in a cozy little place. Evelyn and Todd were extremely responsive and very helpful with all the different quirks of the place being off the grid. The bed was comfy, the recliner loveseat was great. All the furnishings were spot on. We had a great time. Some of the quirks to be aware of so you're not surprised...if you're a light sleeper like me, just know that since you're out in the middle of nowhere, everything is silent until a sound is made. So the road on the other side of the hill is quiet until a loud vehicle drives by going 65 mph...which you'll hear. The heater is nice and cozy, but we shut it off at night because the metal expands and contracts, making popping noises, when it's heating up or cooling off. If the refrigerator compressor or well pump turns on, the batteries kick into higher gear and you hear the fans. The water heater has an endless supply, which is awesome, but it needs a minimum amount of draw (GPM) to stay on, so it takes a little practice balancing the draw with the bathroom faucet if you don't like very hot showers or the surprise of the heater turning off. But again, just little things I noticed. It didn't take away from the great experience we had. Thanks again Evelyn and Todd.
