About this property
Secluded Cape Cod Cottage, with Tennis Court and Private Beach
This is a blissful spot with a large porch overlooking a peaceful cove, and a private dock for swimming and relaxing. The house has its own tennis court literally steps from the kitchen door.
On 11 acres of preserved land, on a cove off Buzzards Bay, the Tennis Cottage provides a perfect vacation spot for families and friends who want to escape the hustle and bustle of modern life.
Built in 1926, the Tennis Cottage is waterfront to Bourne's Cove. A path through the property brings one to the private dock that has quintessential Cape Cod views over the Bay. A leisurely ten-minute stroll along a narrow country lane also brings one to the Bay side of Indian Neck. Tenants also have access to the private beach there.
Windsurfing, canoeing, sailing, swimming, kayaking and tennis are popular ways to spend the days. Both the cove and the bay beaches slope gently into the water and are ideal for babies and old people alike. The water in Buzzards Bay is pleasantly warm for swimming and there is no dangerous surf or undertow.
The town of Wareham is five miles away. The vacation town of Onset, with active beach life, ice cream , fried clams, etc. is five miles in the other direction.

What a wonderful place for a family vacation. Our kids, ages 6 and 9 loved it. Our elderly parents loved it. We loved the beaches, warm water and the safe roads for our children to ride their bikes. We will be back year after year. So glad we discovered it!
Hannah and Wally were incredible hosts. This spot was so magical for my family and I. From the little private dock we could take a swim in a beautiful saltwater bay and the property itself is both wild and elegant. The house is lovely inside with great historial artwork and furniture throughout. The local bay ocean beach is beautiful and also great for swimming and fishing. The tennis court right outside was such a luxury to have. We will return!
The setting was very nice and the home had great character. The outside shower was perhaps the best single feature.
However the house was closed up and upstairs had to be over 90 degrees. The washer overflowed with even the smallest load possible. We never did find the beach it’s far away and the trail is very overgrown. The warnings about deer tics and poison ivy didn’t make it appealing to push thru the brush to get there.
Be sure to bring your own soap and coffee. Once everything was sorted out, the overall stay was enjoyable and very relaxing..

We're so sorry to hear that you had some hiccups during your stay.
We do have AC units upstairs in the windows, and hope you turned them on to keep cool. Hopefully with the windows open you also got to have some natural cool breeze?
As for coffee and body soap, we don't advertise those items -- but we'll consider adding them in the future as it would be nice to arrive with some coffee and body soap (note there is always dish soap).
As for the laundry machine, we do have old pipes, but we also have a plumber on hand who can come and alleviate any issues that might come up with the laundry machine, it should be working fine.
And finally for swimming areas, we try to be clear that to access the cove dock entrance without walking through the marshy path, it's best to access via a 5 minute walk on the road! And the beach is .6 miles away - perhaps we need to create Google Pins so that they are easier to find!
Thanks for feedback, and should there be a next time we are always a text or email away with questions or concerns that come up during your stay.
A wonderful property for our escape from the city for a while. Enjoyed the nearby cove and beach, and served as a good base to explore a bit more of the southern part of the Cape. The tennis court was fun, and it was quiet and peaceful, just what we needed.

Hidden gem!
This is the perfect house for a couple or small family to spend a blissful, relaxing holiday. It's especially great for families with small children - there are huge lawns to run around in, a great claw-foot bathtub, and open-plan living/dining room. The outdoor shower is lovely, and the bedrooms are airy and comfortable. It has everything you need for a quiet, easy vacation. Walking distance to a lovely cove that is perfect for swimming, exploring with little kids, or just reading a book on the dock. A hidden gem!

What makes this property unique
This is a low key, get your feet wet and sandy family place. If you are looking for crowded beaches, boom boxes and cotton candy, this place is NOT for you.
If you love natural beauty, quiet neighbors, kayaking and exploring warm waters, and a place where kids are safe riding around on bikes...you have found Heaven. This place is for you!
