The spacious living room and dining room have vaulted ceilings and opens to the kitchen. The large dining room table easily seats up to 10 people. Sliding doors off of the living room open to a deck with a grill and spectacular forest and river views.
The master bedroom is off of the kitchen. It offers a queen bed and has a private bathroom with a large walk-in shower. The bunk room down the hall from the living room has four twin beds and one full bed. It’s the perfect space for kids with toys, games, and books. A full bathroom is next to the bunk room.
The “stone room” is through French doors off of the living room. It has vaulted ceilings and has a large, plush sectional that has a pull-out bed as a sleeping option. The room also has a television and is a great space for watching a movie or spending time with family and friends.
Downstairs, a third living area doubles as a game room. Doors open onto a patio with access to the front yard. A short walk brings you down to the river’s edge for fishing, kayaking, swimming, and tubing.
Off of the downstairs living room is a third bedroom. This cozy room has a full bathroom, queen-sized bed, and a workspace. The walk-in closet is large enough for a pack-n-play. The laundry room is also downstairs, which you are welcome to use.
Hawk Mountain, a bird sanctuary, is located directly behind Hidden River Lodge. Hawk Mountain offers a variety of very well maintained hiking trails and is a popular location for bird watchers. Other hiking trails in the area are accessible via the main road, including the famous Appalachian Trail. You can find trail maps online.

This is a great house. Very comfortable, nice set up. Room to spread out. They have everything you need. Porch and outdoor fire pit areas are very nice as is the river. We like that it is so close to Hawk Mountain.

This is a beautiful home in lovely surroundings. It is tastefully decorated and is completely equipped to accommodate any of your needs or activities. The hostess is responsive and considerate. Look forward to staying there again when we visit Hawk Mountain.
Good communication with the owner. The house was clean & comfortable. The TV only having Netflix & Amazon was a problem for us since we don't have accounts with them. Other than that we had a nice stay. Thank you.
Sara and facility are the best to work with! This is our second stay in this lodge and we will absolutely return next year. We are working a trade show in Kempton so this allowed us easy access and a very comfortable, relaxing retreat in the evenings! Thank you for providing such a great option for travelers! One comment… please include suggestions to locations to purchase basic needs ie plain coffee! I forgot to bring from home and we never could find a convenient place to purchase plain old coffee! lol!!
This place was amazing! Amazing views, serene property, so quiet. There is a train that is nearby, but they don't blow the horn close and the sounds are beautiful and haunting. Everything in the cabin is very clearly labelled and accessible with so much accommodation in mind, much more than the dozens of short term rentals I've been to over the years. Beds were comfortable, plenty of towels and sheets. I cannot overstate just how spacious the place was. There were only two of us staying there for a couple days, but I can see how this place can accommodate a couple families. I will definitely be coming back should I come to visit my friend again! I can see this place being beautiful in any season! Everything just freshly blooming in spring was gorgeous!
My husband and I took our two grandsons ages 3 an 4 for a week's vacation to this gorgeous property. The home is so beautiful and nestled into the woods giving it just the right amount of privacy. The boys enjoyed all of the wonderful things nature provided from
seeing several eagles perch on tree by the home to watching deer coming by. My husband and I enjoyed early mornings drinking coffee on the deck. Being located at the foot of Hawk Mountain was amazing. I will definitely be booking another stay in the future

About the host
Hosted by Sara J Hurst
I'm one of the owners of Hidden River Lodge: a group of 3 couples who met through their entrepreneurial business connections and became great friends. This place has become our personal getaway/retreat space, both as individuals/families as well as collectively, and we love that we also get to share it with others. We hope that you find the immersion in nature (mountains, river, and woodlands) to be as restful and restorative as we do!
Why they chose this property
The peaceful serenity of Hidden River Lodge is palpable. Whether cozied up on the couch with a good book, sitting on the deck overlooking the river, or down by (or in/on) the river itself, this place invites you to take a deep breath and pause: to feel your soul come alive in nature and silence. Or maybe you're enjoying it with a few friends or your family, and you can catch both moments of rest and retreat as well as the creating of new, fond memories of togetherness with hiking, games, or river activities. Regardless, it's a place that invites deep refreshment of soul, body, and mind.
What makes this property unique
Surrounded by a nature preserve on three sides of the property with the river on the fourth, a stay at Hidden River Lodge is an experience of being immersed in nature. Yet, it's in close proximity (10-15 minutes) of some great restaurants and activities, and just 5 minutes from lots of hiking trails.
