Historic Ada Schoolhouse Retreat- Private, Peaceful, One-of-a-Kind Stay

Experience the unique opportunity to stay in a 170+ year old Schoolhouse! Built in 1852, The Gove School served many students and the local community for years. In addition to education, this small building was used for church gatherings, PTO meetings, clubs, and more. The school officially closed in the 1960s and was renovated into a home. We decided to purchase the Gove School in spring of 2022, and embarked on our renovation journey to bring back its historical charm.
The Schoolhouse boasts unique history, timeless design + modern amenities. With the original hardwood floors, curated antique pieces, wall engraved initials from past students, high ceilings, and tall windows that let natural light flood in. The space has two bedrooms–one with a queen and the other with a full bed. There is one bathroom on the main floor. The stairs take you up to the bright and airy loft with 4 built- in twin XL beds. There is a washer and dryer down the hallway that guests are welcome to use. Enjoy the fully equipped kitchen, cozy living area, and the desk nook if you need to get some work done!

The home is on 2 peaceful acres, with a natural filled swimming pond and spacious backyard with plenty of privacy. Nestled next to beautiful Championship Quail Ridge Golf Course, enjoy vast views of #4 Green and tough approach shots from fairway 5 relaxing by the fire pit and back deck! While down a secluded road, you’ll still be minutes away from many amenities this amazing area has to offer. Conveniently located less than 5 miles from the airport, 5 minutes to downtown Ada, wide bike paths, shops, and much more. A great retreat for couples, friends, and families!

Beautiful, old schoolhouse was super fun to stay in for a girls weekend! We loved the 4 beds upstairs, it was like the old slumber parties when we were kids! The house is in a great location, lots of restaurants and groceries not far. Would definitely stay here again!

Family Gathering

We had 3 families stay at the Schoolhouse together. The beds were comfy, the space so beautiful, and the grounds a perfect place to relax, play yard games and enjoy birds singing. While another bathroom would be ideal, we managed with one and had a lovely stay! Definitely a place we will consider staying again. Communication with the hosts was timely and check in/out was easy.

Comfy Girlfriend Getaway

This is a second stay. So glad the girlfriends agreed to staying at Schoolhouse! It was a perfect place for us to relax and just spend time together. The backyard fire pit was put to good use on a mild March weekend.

A Gem By the Side of the Road

Wonderful stay! We only wish we could have stayed longer. Comfy beds in a cozy house with a backyard perfect for a lazy morning cup of tea. We did not get a chance to try out the fire pit.

Perfect location for multi-generational families

This schoolhouse felt very close to the way it must have been so many years ago. My extended family was very comfortable and the eight of us had no problem managing around each other. My granddaughters “loved” the swings

A magical space

We booked for two nights as an anniversary getaway. It’s even more stunning in person. It was very easy to find and there were plenty of options for food and convenience items that deliver. The place is impeccably clean and the attention to detail is magnificent. The mattress was heavenly. If it hadn’t been so cold, we would have taken advantage of the beautiful spaces outside. But, the snow was lovely to see covering all the pines.Thank you for hosting us!

Wonderful time!

Wanted to find something close to Meijer's Sculpture Garden, and found this property. Couldn’t have been happier with our choice! This charming schoolhouse is even better in person, than shown online. Everything was perfect! Very well appointed! Mattresses were so comfortable we actually reached out to owners on what brand they were. Could not have asked for a better experience! Wish we could give more than 5 stars!

A truly special experience

We visited with our three children - the home and backyard exceeded all expectations. You could tell the care and thoughtfulness that went into the layout and design of the space, down to all of the little details. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the little pond, and would go outside each morning to check on their frog and tadpole friends. The swingset was a huge bonus, as well as the fire pit and all of the yard to run around in. Everything was clean, comfortable, bright, and just lovely. We look forward to returning again on our visits to my sweet little hometown of Ada!

The house itself is incredibly spacious, giving each of us room to unwind without ever feeling crowded. Whether we were gathered around the kitchen island with snacks and wine, or curled up in the cozy living room sharing stories, it felt like home — only better!The cleanliness was top-tier — everything sparkled and felt fresh, which made settling in so easy and comfortable. And the grounds? Absolutely stunning. We spent mornings and evenings outside by the pond, soaking in the surroundings and watching nature.
