About this property

Spacious Ski-In/Ski-Out Chalet on Beech Mountain

**Welcome to Rivendell!**

This cozy and upscale mountain home is the perfect getaway for large family gatherings, comfortably accommodating up to 22 guests. With six newly renovated full bathrooms and two half bathrooms, everyone will have plenty of space. Whether you're a skier or a hiker, you'll love the convenience of being close to amazing attractions like Beech Mountain Skiing and Tubing, Grandfather Mountain, Linville Caverns, and the Grandfather Trout Farm. In the summer, step out your back door for hiking trails with stunning 20-mile views, and in the winter, walk right onto the slopes or relax indoors while enjoying the winter sports action from the large windows on the main floor.

Rivendell is an ideal home base for all your summer adventures—think hiking, biking, and delighting in the fall foliage. You're just a casual stroll away from the town center, where you can visit Fred's General Store or check out some local restaurants. The surrounding hiking trails boast breathtaking 3-state, 100-mile views right from your backyard! You can hike to the top of Beech Mountain in about 20 minutes. Plus, you can enjoy the amenities at the nearby Buckeye Recreation Center, which features tennis courts, basketball courts, a gym, and a lovely lake where you can fish or rent canoes and kayaks. The owners noted that "We just stayed there for the first time in the summer, and we saw about 25 deer each day on the slopes. And while hiking to the top of the mountain to see the beautiful views, we were relaxing on the outdoor viewing decks and saw a bear go by" —how cool is that?

No matter the season, Rivendell offers a variety of mountain activities. Our spacious seven-bedroom home is perfect for winter fun like skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, and snow tubing. In warmer months, thrill-seekers can tackle the nearby National Championship mountain bike trails, which cater to all experience levels. Just a short 15-minute drive away, the Buckeye Recreation Center offers great hiking trails, a large playground, and fun fishing, canoeing, and paddle boating. You'll also find wonderful dining options in Beech Mountain, with local favorites like Mile High Tavern, Brick Oven Pizzeria, and Alpen Restaurant, plus the charming town of Banner Elk just a few miles down the mountain for more restaurants and shopping.

Inside Rivendell, the main level features a great room with beautiful views of the slopes, complete with comfy leather seating around a wood-burning stone fireplace and a large-screen TV. If you're hosting a big get-together, the spacious kitchen has everything you need, including two sinks, two ranges, two refrigerators/freezers, and an ice maker! The cozy dining area has a table that seats 14, a smaller table for four, and a kitchen island with seating for four, so everyone can gather for meals. The spacious deck, complete with a gas grill, overlooks the slopes—ideal for quality time outdoors.

Downstairs, you'll find a family room that's ideal for relaxation and play. With leather furniture arranged around a gas-log fireplace and a big-screen TV, it's a cozy hideaway. Plus, a foosball table and a mini fridge with a sink ensure there's plenty of fun for everyone.
Rivendell boasts two master bedrooms on the main floor, each outfitted with a king bed and an en-suite bathroom. The upper level features another king bedroom with an en-suite bath, along with a king and a queen bedroom that share a hallway bathroom. Downstairs, two bunk rooms—each with three twin-over-twin bunk beds—can accommodate up to 12 guests, each with their own en-suite bathroom and in-room sinks for kids to wash their hands and brush their teeth comfortably.

Rivendell is designed for gatherings, making it the perfect place for family and friends to connect and create cherished memories!

Simply Beautiful!

Blessed to have the opportunity to stay at this amazing home. Plenty of room for all we had & a lot more. Right beside the slopes for the ease of letting the young ones come & go as they wished.

Great size for big family

Overall the house was great! Plenty of space for 12 people, ages ranging from 1 to 70. Only areas to critique were the dimmer switches in the kitchen & master bedroom (largest one on main floor) were flickering & we could not get it to stop so we unscrewed bulbs. The master bedroom (largest one on main floor) had a damp/musty smell.

The house itself was beautiful and its great big group, but the Maintenance not so much. Upon arriving inside the home, I was met with a strong musty type smell. There were big, black ants, the floors weren’t vacuumed, one of the comforters on the bed look like it had bodily fluid on it, there was Kappa stickers left on the top bunk bed from the previous renters, there was hair in the tub and the toilets weren’t clean, there was a booger left on the bathroom wall by the tissue roll, which was very noticeable when you walked in the bathroom, not enough towels for each bed, one of the drapes in the main living room area had brown spots on it, which looked kinda like mud, and there was a broken chair in one of the rooms that was very obvious that it needed to be thrown out. I will say that after notifying them about these issues, they were willing to rectify them by sending someone to place ant traps, they gave us more sheets and towels, and they offered to send someone to clean, but at that point it was too late because everyone was in the home and that would’ve been inconvenient, and lastly, they reimburse some of my money.
