Welcome to Windtryst Estate, our 5000+ sqft custom vacation home tucked away on a 3.4 acre lot in the Stoney Creek neighborhood of the Wintergreen Resort Community. The home features beautiful Water Views, Mountain Views, and Phenomenal Sunsets, as well as enhanced accessibility with a few ground floor bedrooms.

THE HOME
This unique, architecturally interesting home is the perfect backdrop for your special occasions, your family getaways, or even your small group trips. There are a variety of special spots and moments in the house for you to enjoy, including a handsome Billiard Room and small seating hallway overlooking the landscaped courtyard.

KITCHEN + DINING
The kitchen has ample granite countertop space and everything you need to cook meals, including service for 12, essential pots, pans, small appliances, spices, and cooking oils. When it’s time to eat, there’s a 6-person dining table, and an extra “kids” bistro table. In addition, there is a formal dining room just through the butler’s pantry that seats 10 people comfortably.

The butler's pantry between the kitchen and dining room offers a well-stocked coffee bar with Keurig single serve brewer as well as a traditional coffee maker for a pot of coffee, a french press, and also plenty of tea diffusers. This is also where you will find a generous selection of stemless glassware to enjoy wine, champagne, or cocktails.

LIVING ROOM
The natural light-filled living room has a vaulted ceiling and walls of large windows to enjoy the view outside. There is plenty of comfy seating to lounge or play games together, along with a 50” Smart TV to enjoy the same streaming services you have at home (please note: this home does not have a cable service provider but does have Netflix).

WIFI & WORKSPACE
The internet connectivity blazing fast in most rooms in the house (no easy feat with a country estate), and there are two bedrooms that offer spacious desks if you need to find a quiet place to work during your stay.

BEDROOMS
There are five bedrooms, three on the main level and two on the upper level, and none of them share a wall with each other, which provides maximum comfort and privacy under one roof. Four bedrooms are outfitted with a king size mattress and ultra soft bedding. The fifth bedroom is called "The Loft" and it has two sets of bunk beds and a and a queen size bed on the upper level. We also provide two rollaway twin beds that would be appropriate for children to sleep on (probably not that comfortable for an adult) , a Guava Family portable crib for families traveling with a little one, and there is also a queen size air-mattress available if requested.

BATHROOMS + LAUNDRY
The home has three full bathrooms and one half bathroom. The two bedrooms upstairs share a generously sized jack & jill bathroom. And the two bedrooms on the main level are ensuite. There is also a powder room off of the kitchen. The bathrooms have all been fully renovated in 2023. The laundry room is on the main level and has large capacity machines that are available to use, along with an iron and ironing board. The laundry room also has a full size refrigerator to store additional perishables and beverages that do not fit in the refrigerator in the kitchen.

PETS
Up to 2 dogs are welcome to the property. We provide food/water bowls, but please note that there is no fence around the property. Also, even though we thoroughly clean between stays, please consider our pet-friendly policy if you are highly allergic to dogs.

OUTDOOR LIVING
There are a couple of very nice outdoor patios to sit on, a beautiful koi pond to enjoy, a propane fueled gas firepit table that overlooks the lake, as well as a very well-appointed 3-seasons room with sweeping views and comfortable seating sans mosquitoes in the summer.

PARKING
There is a long, private driveway leading to the house. Once you reach the house, there is parking available for 6-8 cars, both in front of the garages and around the circular driveway. There is also a Tesla Level 2 60 amp charger available for guests to charge their electric vehicles upon request. The charger is inside the garage and you will need to request access to use it.

Why We Love It:
This area of Virginia, specifically Nelson County, is the ultimate four-season vacation spot. It’s peaceful, refreshing, and never boring.

The Wintergreen Resort (14 miles up the mountain, 23 minutes) features four seasons of mountain recreation and amenities including exhilarating winter skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing; and a full-service spa. Notably in our neighborhood there are plenty of walking trails, Lake Monocan Beach, swimming pool access for four guests (with guest pass), and the 27 holes of championship golfing at Stoney Creek Golf Course (2.4 miles, 6 minutes).

Other things to note
There’s no such thing as a perfect home, each one has their quirks and this one is no different. Here’s a couple quirky things to note that should be considered before booking:

• The microwave in the kitchen is installed higher than average. If you are under 5’6” you may find it difficult to use.

• The house is on Well Water. Be wise with your water usage. Unlike being hooked up to town or city water, our water gets pumped into a water tank in the house. From there the water is filtered before it comes out of the tap. But, that water tank can be emptied if you are unwise with your water usage.

Plan to stagger showers, or if that is impossible, just plan to take shorter showers.

Here's an example: If you are filling a bathtub, while a load of dishes are in the dishwasher, and a load of laundry is in the washing machine you will definitely notice the water pressure in the house begins to reduce.

If that happens, just give the well-pump a chance to get more water to the tank in the house to replenish the supply and the pressure.

• The house has a Septic System. Please respect that and do not flush any tampons or wipes (even if they say flushable).

• Our property is a "Certified Wildlife Habitat", which means we respect all the animals in the area and if some want to make a shelter for themselves on our land, we are fine with that . This includes: birds, bunnies, lizards, deer, snakes, and others. If you have an extreme phobia of wildlife please be advised you may see wild animals on the land surrounding our home.

• As a safety feature, the smoke detectors are hard-wired to alert Wintergreen Fire & Rescue if they are activated. This optimizes response time in case of an emergency, BUT the "no-smoking inside the home or garage" policy needs to be respected because smoking near any of the units will set it off. (This has happened).
