Wonderful property full of amenities! We loved the fully stocked kitchen and bathrooms, the cozy sofa and blankets, and the garage full of bikes and beach chairs. It is in a great location - easy to get to Duck or to Nag's Head or anywhere in between. The check in process and communication with the hosts was the best I've ever had. I would definitely stay here again and the property looks just like the photos. Thanks for a great stay!

An absolute OBX gem! The moment I walked through the door of this beautiful, real log cabin, I felt an immediate sense of warmth, love, and peacefulness. It was exceptionally clean, cozy, beautifully designed, and incredibly comfortable, with every amenity thoughtfully provided. From bikes and beach chairs to hammocks, yard games, a fire pit with wood, and even a huge outdoor double shower, they thought of everything! The location is superb, the next best thing to being oceanfront! Everything is within an easy walk or bike ride, including the beach, Publix grocery, great restaurants, bike trails, and the sound for gorgeous sunsets. Surrounded by beautiful, mature trees, the property feels private and wonderfully woodsy while still being just minutes from both the ocean and sound. It really is the best of both worlds! After visiting the Outer Banks for more than 35 years and staying in all kinds of accommodations, this cabin quickly became one of my absolute favorites. The hosts were wonderful, professional, communicative, and genuinely caring. If you’re looking for a peaceful, cozy place surrounded by nature to relax and unwind, The Cabin is the perfect home!

Our stay in OBX

House was clean and had everything needed for a great weekend at the beach. The only disappointment was no propane for the grill, but there are lots of stores very close by so we were able to get some pretty quickly.

Hi Monica - thank you so much for your review! We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at the Cabin! We are sorry the tank attached to the grill was low, but we wish you had reached out! We would have directed you to the replacement tanks we have in the garage available for our guests. Thanks so much again for choosing to stay with us!

Week in Kill Devil Hills

Property was as advertised. Nothing our group needed was missing, location was prime, and house was clean. The backyard is everything it appears and more. For the price, there’s no where in the Outer Banks we would have rather stayed.

Obx getaway

The log cabin was beautifully decorated and for our needs for 8 people. The backyard is amazing and would be great to enjoy in the summer months! Bikes in the garage were a nice addition, but would have liked a few helmets.

Had to take garbage cans out on day of arrival. They were full. Of yard waste. Had to empty the dehumidifier it was full. Had to use blankets over windows. Some windows nothing covering at all. The windows that had curtains you could see thru very clearly after dark and a light on, even in bathrooms. Taylor was great and answered quickly for any questions we had. Im sure she is truing to do a great job.

Elizabeth, your review is inaccurate, and several points need clarification for future guests. You mentioned you were elderly and driving a long distance, so we provided a free early check-in several hours before the standard time. You also asked many questions about the home’s layout, so I sent numerous photos, written explanations and the floor plan to make sure you knew exactly what to expect. Trash pickup: In the Outer Banks, trash is collected twice weekly in summer and once weekly in winter. You arrived the day before winter pickup, so the cans had a week of trash. When you asked, I immediately sent clear instructions and photos. This same info is in both our digital guide and physical house guide. Our cleaners were scheduled to handle it; you offered to roll the cans out yourself and I thanked you. Dehumidifier: I explained when you messaged me that it shuts off when full and our cleaners empty it after checkout, so there was nothing you needed to do. Wi-Fi: You asked if the house had Wi-Fi on your first night, even though it’s clearly listed and included in the listing & both guides. Curtains & privacy: Every window except the kitchen has curtains, exactly as shown in the listing. The home sits on a private, wooded cul-de-sac with no neighbors able to see inside. We have hundreds of 5-star reviews, and these concerns have never come up before. Your feedback reflects a mismatch in expectations, not issues with the home or our hosting.

You won't want to leave!

This house makes you feel right at home! The house offered everything our family needed for our stay and then some! The house is also very well maintained by the homeowner. The pictures of the home on Vrbo are very accurate of what you find in the home. The quality of the furnishings, beddings, decor, and other things in the home are top notch. Not to mention that back yard - Amazing! The house is located on a cul-de-sac, which allowed the kids to ride bikes and play with other neighborhood kids. The subdivision is right behind Publix grocery store, which is so convenient. And the public beach parking just across the main road from that. This was our first time using Vrbo instead of the local rental companies and was impressed with the experience.

Just back from a long weekend at The Cabin in Kill Devil Hills, and wow did it deliver. Open the door and you’re hit with that “fresh wood” smell, like someone just sealed a treehouse in sunshine. This is the real-deal log cabin, too: thick pine rounds stacked and chinked, exposed beams you want to run your hand over, quirky angles that make the place feel one-of-a-kind. Somehow it still feels beachy, not backwoods—think cedar-scented surf shack. Layout is perfect for families. My husband and I grabbed the king room downstairs (easy bedtime escape), while our two teens owned the upstairs—two big bedrooms, each with a pair of queens, no bickering. Both baths are bright and newly tiled and so CLEAN! They’ve stocked every gadget—Keurig, blender, decent knives—so no hauling our own. When rain rolled in, we stretched across the giant sectional, queued up a movie, and listened to the storm drum on the logs. Outside is even better. Massive fenced yard strung with Edison bulbs, a hammock perfect for stargazing, grill, and a fire pit that turned into nightly s’mores therapy. The outdoor shower has twin rain heads and endless hot water, so sand never crossed the threshold. They nailed the beach gear: bikes, chairs, umbrellas, towels all waiting in the garage. We pedaled to Avalon Pier in five, strolled to the 1st Street access for sunrise shells. The hosts were so sweet and welcoming. Best. Vacay. Ever!

The price was too high compared to the upkeep and maintenance of the property. It made me realize again that "all that glitters is not gold". The photos were misleading especially for the rooms and bathrooms on the upper floor. The door lock for one of the upstairs rooms does not work and poses risk for being locked in. The bathrooms and shower fittings are old, dirty and shabby. In the kitchen, there are ceramic bowls etc. which had chipped off edges. I will not be surprised if the owners would claim money from the insurance company stating that we had broken those objects. The switch for lighting the stairs located on the upper floor needs replacement. The kitchen appliances are old and not functioning well. The kitchen sink drain does not drain out properly. Overall, we did not think that the price we paid was worth it.

This review contains multiple statements that are objectively false. Facts matter, and fortunately they’re easy to verify. Our listing is not “misleading.” It includes professional photos of every room from multiple angles, a detailed floor plan, and thorough descriptions. Short of moving into the house before booking, we’re not sure how much more information could reasonably be provided. The claim that the bathrooms and appliances are “old” is also false. The home was completely renovated in 2023, with brand-new GE kitchen appliances installed then and a new washer and dryer installed in 2026. We have the receipts. Calling something “old” doesn’t make it old. During your stay, the only message you sent was requesting additional toilet paper and paper towels beyond the starter supply clearly disclosed in our listing. We responded immediately. None of the other issues mentioned here were ever reported, but they are also false, so why report? Most puzzling is the completely fabricated suggestion that we would file a fraudulent insurance claim against our own guests. We are a family that personally owns and manages this home, and no claim was ever filed because there was nothing to claim. This is exactly the home we advertise: a thoughtfully renovated log cabin with warmth and character, not a generic luxury hotel. Future guests can judge for themselves by reviewing our listing, floor plan, photos and many reviews that accurately reflect both our home and our hospitality.
