About Laura Essel
I grew up in Pittsburgh and purchased this home (my first) in 2009. My dad and I remodeled it together. I love the house, but a few years ago I met someone and moved out to the country about an hour South of Pittsburgh. I live on a 20 acre farm that is mostly wooded. I have a huge garden (learned how to can) and also raise chickens! I live for the outdoors and I can always be found hiking, camping, boating, swimming, kayaking (and every other outdoor activity you can think of). I am also an animal lover (which is why I allow pets in my cottage). I really enjoy hosting folks in my home! I believe this is the career path I was meant to follow!

Why Laura Essel chose Carnegie
I was renting an apartment on Main street in Carnegie. I love to walk, so one day during a walk, I noticed a street I had never been down. As I walked down I came across this house that was completely covered in trees and kinda reminded me of a "hobbit house" (this is also how my mother referred to it as well)... and there was a for sale sign in front of it! I couldn't believe it. It was the perfect little house for me. Close to the city yet close to nature! It needed ALOT of work, but my dad and I remodeled it together (while i lived in it). I love the house (and still do) and now I share it with all of you lovely people! I also donate the entire pet fee to my local animal shelter: Bridge To Home Animal Rescue
