About the host
Hosted by Shelby Yocius
Hello! My name is Shelby! I am born and raised in St. Augustine, Florida and just recently moved back after finishing college in New York City. My mother runs and owns 15 other properties and this is our first full project together. I work for her as a property & design coordinator for her interior design firm Anastasia Design Group. I love cooking, self-care, learning new things, antiques, and travel! The design selections showcase my mother and I's shared love for antiques- featuring many art gems from our travels and unique furniture we couldn't pass on, almost every piece has a story. It is a true show of our own personal styles in our homes & we can't wait to share it with you. I love being a host because I love being able to welcome people into the beautiful town I grew up in, give local recommendations, and make sure guests have a lovely experience because I truly want you to!
Why they chose this property
I love this neighborhood. Located just over the Lion's bridge it is super close to the hustle and bustle of downtown St. Augustine but more of a beach-y feel since we are on the "island", it always feels like there is just a bright-sunny-good-bike-riding vibe when I'm here. You can walk, drive, or bike into downtown or you can spend some time on this side of the bridge. Within walking distance there are some of my favorite places in town! You can enjoy food & craft cocktails at Odd Birds Bar & Lounge, or tacos & brews at Osprey Tacos (they also have bike rentals here), games, grilled cheese, & music at Sarbez!, or head to the Conch House for a goombay smash and fried shrimp, you can even pop into my favorite antique store the Anastasia Antique Center!
What makes this property unique
This home is unlike the rest, mid-modern boho inspired and full of one-of a kind art and furniture pieces there is so much history within these walls! My favorite part of the home is the giant living room with tall cedar wood ceilings and big sliding doors that lead out to the pool, it feels private and open at the same time. This home was my grandmother's and the home my father grew up in. It is where I learned how to sew and bake, and where I spent most of my time with late grandmother as a child. I have so many memories here and it is so exciting to be able to bring to it new life. It is also special because it was a team project with my mother and I. We spent hours deciding on furniture and searching for art and paying attention to all the tiny details to wow our guests. Pictures can't even do it justice!
