About this property

The Rustic Old Dam Cabin

"The Old Dam Cabin"is a tongue-in-cheek acknowledgement of its location, and if cozy had a picture in the dictionary, The Old Dam cabin would be looking back at you with a big grin. Sitting next to our “catch and release” fishing pond which comes complete with an old dam, this cabin is perfect for families looking to reconnect. Located right next door is our seasonal Sip Shack Icecream Shop, Public Pavilion overlooking the pond, Play-set with sliding board, and even a doggie park. The Old Dam Cabin even has a private hot tub to help you wind down and relax after a day of hiking in the National Park or simply chasing the kiddies and pets around!
Old Dam cabin features a walk back in time rustic feeling and it was said to have been built in early 1900. Enter the front door from the large front porch to the living room which has the original wood burning fireplace. The living room located on the main floor has a futon for extra sleeping options while the studio style full bedroom is located upstairs with two built-in twin beds. There is one full bathroom on the main floor with a tub/shower unit. The rustic kitchen also located on the main floor has a refrigerator, microwave, stove, and is stocked with plates, glasses, cutlery, baking dishes, pots, pans, and of course, a coffee pot! There is even a starter pack of coffee packs, filters, cream, sugar, trash bags, dish detergent and dishwasher detergent.

Not to worry if you run out of something, The charming town of Stanardsville is only a short five minute drive away where you will find Great Valu Grocery Store, Dollar General and even Mountainside Gas Station should you need to fuel up! There are many things to enjoy as Old Dam Cabin is ideally located near all the area has to offer with the entrance to Skyline Drive and Shenandoah National Park only two miles away. You can also enjoy the great wineries the region has to offer as the cabin sits on the Virginia Wine Trail with over thirty wineries in the area as well as several great local breweries. There’s also lovely historic Charlottesville which is just a short trip down the road where you can tour two of America’s Presidents Homes, Montpelier and Ashlawn. So, come relax and take it easy in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Old Dam Cabin - you are going to love it!

Direct TV did not work. The incline of the steps to the bedroom was too steep for our dog, so we slept downstairs. Otherwise, the cabin was delightful.

Cozy cabin
Very cozy cabin with the driveway off of US 33 and 5 minutes from the entrance to Shenandoah National Park. The hot tub in the back was a bonus after hiking all day. Very peaceful sitting on the porch with a bourbon and a book at the end of the day.

Very nice and Quiet!
All was pretty good, a little to much spider webs in the cabin. I would recommend and will return!

Old Damn Cabin
We Had a great time celebrating my husbands Birthday. He was in heaven with the added bonus of a hot tub and he loves making a fire . The light in the stairwell appears to be out. The lower ka ch on back door is broken ! Just a side note We are in are 60s but in great shape . Older couples who might not be mobile would probably have trouble with those stairs going up to the bedroom.

A perfect getaway
We love this place. Rustic real cabin but with all the amenities. Everything was perfect. We had lunch and drinks at the lodge and the staff were attentive and so nice. We bought a few gifts and the front desk clerk was so nice and packaged our purchases up for us while we ate and delivered it to our table. This was our 2nd time staying and we will definitely be back.
