Another great stay at the West End Stay and Play!! Spencer was wonderful to work with and extremely quick to respond when we had a question. Look forward to other future stays!
Great place to stay. Overall was a good experience! Beds are a little firm but there’s lots of space and it worked out well for my family as we were staying in town for a wedding! Beats staying at a hotel any day!
2nd time staying there. We love the fenced yard for our dogs and that’s it’s in town and walkable to a few restaurants/bars and stores. Host was responsive.
Spencer, I was hoping to bump into the cleaning crew this morning before I left. Couple of issues - I noticed this morning during the clean-up that there is a leak on the head of the kitchen sink faucet. Not on the main lever but on the switch changing between spray and pour. More importantly during that heavy rain last night we started to get water coming through the ceiling along the line of the sofa and chairs. It stopped after the rain ceased and there has been nothing like it before during the winter, even with the big melts last months. Hope this helps
This place was wonderful. Centrally located to walk everywhere. Amenities were everything we needed and we loved each having our own bedroom!!Cute little town!!!
Easy to work with property management - they own a business just around the corner! Property was clean and in good working order. It worked well with multiple bedrooms for my cousins and my little family to stay here together while in town. It isn't designed for little kids in mind, but was safe for my one year old - which helped us relax while at "home." My dog loved the fenced in yard to be able to be let out and to play with our daughter.
Check-in was really easy, very smooth and with no trouble with the lock. The entry was a bit awkward with having to step down into the garage before stepping up into the unit, but it wasn't a problem. The kitchen was spacious, as was the living room, the beds were comfortable and the neighborhood was quiet. We slept so soundly, which isn'talways easy in unfamiliar surroundings! We had no problems with the wifi or with anything else. The decor is nicely done. All in all, we had a very good experience.
The property is mostly as described. The 3 step in was a little misleading. We are in our 70's and my husband has had some major medical issues. The step in entry was tricky for him and for loading and unloading the car. Overall a very good stay.
Move in weekend at NMU. Great location just a few miles away from campus. The fenced in back yard with small deck area was great for enjoying the pleasant evening outside. Fully equipped with everything we needed. The common spaces are spacious and absolutely comfortable. It was a unique experience to be in downtown Ishpeming. We really appreciated the host’s prompt communication and hospitality.
I was pleasantly surprised at the spaciousness of the property! Even though my companions were not able to come with me, it was nice to have the space and options. The instructions on the TV operation could be updated - kind of hard to see on the blackboard current
Overall, this was a wonderful stay. The fenced yard was especially convenient since the property is pet-friendly and we were traveling with our dogs. One small note: there’s a noticeable gap between the bottom of the door and the ground, so very small dogs with a talent for escaping might be able to slip out. The kitchen and bedrooms were very clean and well-stocked, which we appreciated.A few things worth mentioning: when we arrived, there were a lot of feathers and some blood on the deck, suggesting a pigeon had recently died in the yard. Using the rake provided, I moved the feathers to the side to keep our dogs away from the mess. There are also a pair of pigeons nesting above the garage door, which has led to a significant amount of bird droppings in that area. Additionally, while retrieving a dropped item, we noticed quite a bit of crumbs, pet hair, and debris between the couch cushions. Since this is a pet-friendly unit, it wasn’t a major issue, but it did make us wonder about the thoroughness of the cleaning before our stay. All in all, this property was affordable, well-located, and very convenient for anyone traveling with pets. We would definitely consider re-booking if we need a rental in the area again.
I'm the owner of West End Ski & Trail, a bike and trail sports shop in Ishpeming. Our shop's first location was the front unit at this property! I'm enthusiastic about trails and introducing people to this awesome community. We can offer rentals for mountain bikes, fat bikes, and bike path e-bikes, as well as guided mountain bike tours.
Why they chose this property
Downtown Ishpeming is a great hub for outside activity! We are close to the RAMBA trail network, which has 80 miles of singletrack for mountain biking, hiking, and trail running. In the winter, the trails are groomed for fat biking and snowshoeing. Snowmobile trails go through town, and for cross-country skiing, the UP Nordic Ski Complex is a couple minute drive away.
Ishpeming is only a 15 minute drive from Marquette, where you'll find even more trails and opportunities for outdoor activities year-round. The Iron Ore Heritage Rail Trail connects the two communities.
