We loved our stay at this property. It had everything you would need for your stay. The property was beautiful and comfortable. We are glad we choose this home for our yearly vacation.
The house was so beautiful and the view was amazing! Everything was clean and we all felt very comfortable the whole time we were there. The town sprice pine was a short drive away which made getting groceries/food convenient and easy. Would 100% stay here again.
Another enjoyable stay at this home. Very clean, very comfortable to stay in for our mountain trip. Good tv coverage for rainy days with the kids! When the weather permits the fire ring is perfect for a spring evening.
This location is perfectly set at a place that you’re able to capture such and amazing view. And while your eyes aren’t fixed on the mountains. You’re met with a sense of coziness by this home’s interior. Spacious, warm, comfort are all words that I would use to describe this place. But the main aspect of this place is the sense of peace one feels and that is priceless..
Our stay at Spectacular Mountain Views was fantastic! I wish we could have spent more time there to sit on the porch gazing at the view and to explore the area. The house itself was more than one could ask for. I could go on and on. Host Bill was about as responsive as anyone could be.
The cabin was absolutely gorgeous and exactly as advertised. It’s in a very remote location, which we personally enjoyed, though it does take about 20 minutes to get to once you’re off the main roads and may not be for everyone. The closest skiing was about an hour away. The layout worked perfectly for our group of 4 adults (thanks to the two master bedrooms) and 4 children (ages 18, 18, 14, and 11). The kitchen was very well stocked, and we appreciated the lack of TVs in the bedrooms — it really encouraged unplugging. There were plenty of puzzles and games, which we all loved. The fire pit was also hit at night for making s’mores and relaxing. There isn’t much to do in town, but that’s part of the charm if you’re looking to truly get away and relax. The mountain road can feel a little intimidating at night, so we chose to head back earlier in the evenings. That said, we had no issues driving the mountain or the driveway in our Honda Odyssey.Overall, a wonderful stay and a great choice for families or groups looking for a peaceful, scenic retreat.

I’ll stay was generally good, however, the road leading to the home is unpaved and treacherous. Moreover, much of the county is still under duress since hurricane Helene and many of the hiking and restaurant venues were unavailable. We wish we were aware of this prior to booking our stay.

Thanks for the feedback Gerald. Our road is a very well maintained gravel road with no washouts or switchbacks and has never before been described as treacherous (we’ve had hundreds of guests). A 4wd vehicle is not needed - I don’t even own a 4wd. Yes our area was hit hard by Helene in September. In the ensuing 7 months since the hurricane hit, there has been amazing recovery which continues. While there are still some restaurants closed, there are 16 currently open in Spruce Pine and an equal number more within a 15 minute drive. Additionally, we have a Super Walmart in Spruce Pine. Similar story with trails - there are still some closed or inaccessible, but there are dozens reachable with a short drive. I am always happy to help guests plan their activities when asked. If you’re interested in making a difference, our area needs visitors to help our small businesses survive/thrive and we are open for business and eager to give you a wonderful mountain get away!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Humpback Mountain! Our group ranged in age from 5 to 70 and we all loved it. Home was very clean and comfortable. Plenty of seating inside and out. We enjoyed early morning coffee on the deck for at least an hour every day. We cooked most meals at home and felt the home was very well stocked. Beds were comfy and kiddos enjoyed playing some new games. The peace and quiet was amazing! We also enjoyed the drive up the mountain because we live in the "flatlands"!
Highly recommend for those wanting some away time!
This gem is in a quiet neighborhood and up into the mountain a bit. The view alone made this home a 5 star for us. We loved watching the sunset. Fire pit was awesome! We sat a bunch up on the deck and enjoyed the rockers.
The kitchen had everything you need to cook. The Layout in the living room was spacious and had enough comfortable seating for 4-5 adults. The two master bedrooms was a great plus! The jetted tub was a big selling point for me. Beds were extremely comfortable. Having access to the garage was an added bonus. Bill was extremely accommodating and easy to communicate with. Look no further. This house is it!!!
Perfect open floor plan!! Very clean! Kitchen had everything necessary for cooking/serving our meals. The rest of the house was very well supplied with what was needed to feel comfortable. The views were spectacular. Road great for daily walks. Access to stores less than 20 minutes away. I had easy and fast communication with our host. You will not be disappointed staying in this VRBO!
We really enjoyed our stay and the property has an excellent view. There were a few minor things we noted for the owner for next time. We will definitely be coming back in the future.
Another great stay in this home. Convenient to Linville Falls, the Caverns, Blowing Rock and all other points of interest along the Parkway. Spruce Pine appears to be coming out of the pandemic in good shape with new businesses and restaurants opening up. The home itself is extremely well done and the patio is the perfect place for morning coffee or a nightcap. Looking forward to our next stay up here.
Beautifully remodeled, very clean house that immediately felt like home. Set in the mountains where the only sounds you hear are distant waterfalls and chirping birds, you also have an amazing panoramic view of the mountains from the open concept family/dining/kitchen floor plan, one of the master bedrooms and the downstairs living space. The kitchen was well-suited for full meal preparation. We were lucky enough to be there during a full moon. Very good proximity to beautiful hiking trails of all levels. Communication with owner was very easy.
Bill was great at communicating and answered immediately when we had questions or issues. House has great view but scary drive up mount if you come from flat land.
Agree with other reviews a little uncomfortable having owners food in fridge and clothes in closet

Hi Penny, thank you for visiting and for the 5 Star Review - so glad your family had such a great time! The road in our development is a highly maintained, gradual incline, smooth gravel road with no switchbacks, washouts, etc. Our cabin is 1 mile up the mountain at 4,000 ft (that's why the views are so amazing) and we don't own a 4 wheel drive car since it is not necessary at all to drive up to the cabin. We designed our cabin for our family - this is not your typical rental - that is why it is impeccably clean and the finishes, furniture, beds, appliances are all first class as noted in many reviews. We want our guests to feel at home in our cabin - we ensure the fridge/freezer are cleaned out with the exception of a few condiments and essentials that we stow out of the way. We do also keep a few jackets and clothes in the closet but 90% of all closet space is available to our guests. In addition, all dressers and nightstands are always completely empty. We have many guests who visit year after year because they appreciate the warm, family feel of our cabin and value the love and care we pour into it. Blessings from our family to yours! Bill
Cons: As others have stated we felt like we were intruding on the owners space as their clothing was in the closet, personal items in the bathrooms, and food in the fridge and pantry. We barely had enough space to store our food as 95% of the pantry was filled with the owners food.
PROS: The home was beautiful and as advertised, all items from cookie sheet to crock pot was there. Large dining table to accommodate us all. Loved that the kids had their own lil area downstairs in the bunk room with tv and games so they didn't have to hang with the adults. Loved the view from the deck to watch the sunrise every morning. Home is close to the parkway, falls, and neighboring towns. Owner was swift to respond, we look forward to returning soon.
Our experience in the grandstand was fantastic.
The bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious and clean. The kitchen was well stocked and spacious for the family to work in. The Wi-Fi was a little weak, but I turned on the hotspot on my phone and it worked like a charm.
The one thing that was missing was a game table( Table tennis, Foosball) things like that.
A lot of things to do and places to go nearby.
We all had A great experience and memories to last a lifetime. WHAT A VIEW👍
I can’t say enough about this house and the vacation we had. House was spectacular and easy to get to considering others we had stayed at before. The layout is so comfortable and perfect for family or friends to hang out. The fire pit outside was for sure the best part. Although it was in the 20’s and 30’s most of the time, we are from Florida and wanted to soak up all the cold weather we could get. Even had snow flurries one day. The beds are extremely comfortable and cozy.
The house comes with every amenity you will need. Our group had ages from 17, 21, 50’s, and 82. All had so much fun with plenty do so in area including skiing to just staying in the house watching Christmas movies and making s’mores. Although the house has wifi, it’s a bit spotty but it did work. I think it has to do with the mountain and not the Wi-Fi itself. Service in the area in general was always hit or miss. The grill had gas so we cooked 2 nights with it. The house also had a good amount of wood to start vacation and we got more while we were there.
Really can’t say enough of what a beautiful home this was and what a great time we had. Thank you Bill for being great to communicate with.

About the host
Hosted by Bill Small
We are a very active family of 5 (plus Rosalie our Standard Poodle) that loves the outdoors!
Why they chose this property
Close to home with a tremendous number of outdoor activities in the area while offering super quiet, remote "get away from it all' solitude.
What makes this property unique
We love to cook and entertain but most rentals we experienced had limited cooking space, appliances and cookware. We designed our home with an awesome kitchen that is well stocked and also part of the great room to allow for interaction with family and freinds while preparing food and drinks.
