The place was excellent, with so much attention to detail. The cabin was extremely clean and well maintained. Even though it was a very cold weekend with temperatures in the single digits, the cabin was warm and cozy throughout our stay. We would definitely love to come back again.

The cabin was gorgeous and cozy - every detail was perfect. The trails right out the front door were lovely for a walk in the snow on a weekend of subzero temps and the woodstove kept us warm the entire time. The kitchen was perfect for cooking all of our meals and the hosts were attentive. Can’t say enough about this place!
Host was quick to respond with any questions, cabin was exactly what we were looking for to celebrate anniversary and baby moon! Loved the property and how secluded it felt but also not too far away from places to visit either.
This cabin surpasses the description online - it is perfect! It's tucked away and cozy, plus there were so many cool & thoughtful bits included (the projection screen, the fire place, the twinkle lights). It's super clean and nicely furnished in a homey way - not a hotel way. The book choices around the place are also excellent! We loved being walking distance to the Bob Cameron loop and being able to spend a half-day exploring Ithaca. This cabin has that secluded feeling while also providing everything you could possibly need. We're already trying to plan another stay in the summertime.
We had the most wonderful stay at this cabin in the woods! From the moment we arrived it felt welcoming and thoughtfully designed. The decor is absolutely charming; rustic but comfortable. The little details( lights outside, warm wool blankets, artwork, etc) made it feel so special and cozy! The wood stove was definitely a highlight! It’s just so relaxing to sit by the fire on a cold winters night just relaxing, reading a book, or having conversation. The owners were thoughtful enough to have a prebuilt fire ready for us, and a nice supply of firewood. The directions to use the wood stove were very clear. This cabin is a perfect blend of secluded and convenient as you’re only 20 minutes from Ithaca where you’ll find great restaurants, stores, etc. If you’re looking for a peaceful, quiet, beautiful place to stay for some much needed rest and relaxation I highly recommend this cabin! We loved it and hope to return someday soon!
Nice cabin inside and out! Very clean upon arrival. Inside, we were very comfortable sitting by the fire and watching movies on the big screen at night, since it was too windy for an outdoor fire. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook breakfast. Lots of thoughtful touches around the cabin, including helpful instructions on how to operate everything, like the tv projector and excellent fireplace! They was also a things to do in the area manual, which was very useful for hiking and restaurant recommendations. Outside was very peaceful and quiet. We took short hikes on the properties trails with our dog. The new porch is perfect for morning coffee. It was easy to day trip to Ithaca for groceries and to visit some wineries and waterfalls. Perfect R&R getaway on a cold, windy and snowy long weekend! Kim was very helpful and was quick to reply back on any questions. She was also flexible on the days we booked when our dog got sick and we had to postpone for a day. Thanks, fir everything!Andy, Missy and Frisco!
This was one of the nicest places we have ever stayed at. Probably the nicest now that I reflect!! Cleanliness was Exceptional....Kitchen was Exceptional. The heat (November stay) was perfect. The Cabin was set up with many safety measures and on line! Sleeping was Exceptional. We hope to stay at this wonderful cabin again!! Beautiful!
The cabin exceeded our expectations! Lots of small details to enjoy! We loved our stay and would happily return! Gorgeous and peaceful and close to many waterfalls, restaurants and shopping. Would highly recommend!
We loved the cabin! The kitchen is so cute and the attention to detail in decor and layout is incredible. String lights on the porch and around the outdoor fire pit created such a warm and cozy atmosphere in the evenings. The chairs near the pond were the perfect places to spend the cool crisp mornings!
This was a lovely remote log cabin. Clean, rustic and modern amenities. Thoroughly enjoyed using this as a home base for our stay exploring the Finger Lake region. Would have enjoyed spending more time. Looking forward to a return visit.
This was one of my favorite rentals of all time and we travel a lot! What a beautiful and charming place. We paddled in the boat which all of the kids and adults loved. Made s’mores, walked in the woods, relaxed on the porch and even watched a movie on a rainy day. Thank you for providing such a magical space and retreat. We have highly recommend it to others and we will be back!
My husband and I were looking for a quiet and relaxing getaway for a long weekend. This was the perfect place. The area is quiet and private. The log cabin is idyllic. It created the exact mood we were hoping for. The house was immaculate. The hosts were thoughtful and generous, leaving little essentials, such a sugar, salt, pepper, paper towels, dish soap, fire wood, etc. It was worth every penny. We would definitely book here again.
Beautiful property that provides the isolation one is looking for to disconnect but with the convenience of a 20min drive to everything you would need.
My boyfriend and I came here with our dog for our 5 year anniversary. The cabin was very clean and their property is gorgeous. Perfect quiet get away. Our dog loved running around , make sure you get a map since there are so many great hiking places and breweries. Loved starting our day with a 6 mile hike and ending with some drinks. Owners had a binder too to help you find local places !
We had a wonderful time. The cabin is very well furnished, very modern. Great kitchen. Lots of automatic lighting and the providers pretty much thought of everything. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The kitchen was especially nice - while we had most of our meals out, we almost wished we had planned to cook some dinners in due to how nicely stocked it was and the quality of the kitchen appliances/utensils. The cabin is clean, cozy, and nicely designed. Using the projector screen for movies and having the fire pit to sit around at night were nice pluses! The cabin is also a perfect location from sites such as Watkins Glen, Ithaca, and other state parks. The only note I would make is to be cautious when getting in and out of the beds on the far side - the low angle of the ceiling means you might bump your head!
My husband and I could not have enjoyed ourselves more. We relaxed in the very clean and beautifully decorated cabin and had the best nights of sleep we can remember. We sat on the covered porch watching the birds and listened to the peepers as we enjoyed the sun setting over the pond. Best vacation ever!

About the host
Hosted by Kim and Ed
We--Kim Bostwick and Ed Scholes--are long-time biologists and naturalists, who've traveled the world studying birds. We currently live in Trumansburg, NY, where we have lived for 18 years raising our two children.
We have lovingly renovated this cabin, carefully considering every detail for aesthetics and functionality. We've worked hard to keep our building resources local and sustainable, and to employ local-working carpenters and masons whenever possible.
The results have been two years in the making, from January of 2023 all the way through 2024, and we are eager to finally begin renting in the Spring of 2025.
We look forward to offering something we think is very special by sharing this space with guests who appreciate the peace and serenity of nature and natural places as much as we do. We hope you start your stay feeling delighted and comfortable, and you leave your stay feeling refreshed and satisfied.
Why they chose this property
We love that our cabin is private and removed from traffic and noise, and somehow manages to be in something of a geographic "center" between three awesome towns (Ithaca, Watkins Glen, and Trumansburg), and four awesome state parks, each showcasing different and stunning versions of the area's famous lush green gorges (Treman, Buttermilk Falls, Watkins Glens, and Taughannock Falls).
At a finer scale, our property is effectively surrounded by the Connecticut Hill Wildlife Management Area (WMA), such that we have access to endless trails and seasonal roads, crossing through diverse forest and creek habitats, The forests and fields of the WMA are managed to support diverse and abundant wildlife. Such "wilderness" is relatively rare to find in central New York.
What makes this property unique
Three things make our property unique: (1) the elevation and (2) the nearby state land, and (3) the healthy native plants and animals.
The Elevation: At 2050' of elevation, just 40' short of Connecticut Hill’s (and Tompkins Counties) highest point, we are one of the highest residences around, regionally. This elevation means the air is always fresh and refreshing in the summer, and the snow is the best around in the winter.
The Surrounding State Land: There are a handful of residences around the boundary of the WMA, and no paved through roads in Connecticut Hill which greatly reduces traffic and its associated noise to a minimum. It's generally very peaceful and quiet.
Lovely Natural Plants and Animals: We have been excited to uncover numerous signs of healthy native populations of frogs and salamander, trees and small forest wildflowers on our property.
