Things to note:

As locals and frequent travelers ourselves, we value transparency above all things.
This listing is in a transitional neighborhood in North Charleston. If you've never been to our city, or if you've never been to a place that is racially and economically diverse, you probably won't feel comfortable here.

Another thing to note, all our neighbors are harmless and more or less friendly, the house to our right is in disrepair. We have no control over it but we like to mention it just in case that is a deal breaker for any guest.

If you have any specific questions about the area just ask! My family has lived and worked in North Charleston for 100 years and we are glad to guide you.

Bugs: we have the house professionally maintained, but depending on the season you may see a bug. This is not an indication of the house not being clean but a reality of living in the south :) if you see a bug, let us know and we will handle it swiftly.

Air Conditioning: This shouldn't affect your stay but as shown in the pictures, we do not have central air but we do have powerful and brand mini split AC. Works just fine we just like to be thorough with what to expect.

Exactly what we needed

Perfectly located so we could get to all wedding festivities we had to attend. Accurately described and perfectly accommodating for our needs, and would even define it as overly accommodating for an extended stay. Would definitely book again.

Stay at the St. Murray

My friends and I stayed at this property for a concert. We had an excellent time! This property would be great for two couples; we had one couple and then two friends. As a result one of us slept on the couch, but the couch was comfortable. Nice location and great decor.

Stayed for a long weekend. Had a great time. House had everything we needed. Updated and Very clean. There were 3 of us, and we were very comfortable. Would recommend and would stay again.

Nice little place in a POOR location

From the beginning, I’d like to highlight that the house was very nice and clean on the inside. It had everything we needed for our short stay. The kitchen and bathroom was exceptionally updated and the rest of the house was pretty nice as well. The mini split a/c was fine and we had no issues with it. The only “knock” would be that the beds were quite small and not as comfortable as our own but that’s to be expected in most cases when staying away from home. However, the location of the property is the bad part of this review. It is located in a poor neighborhood. The house next door had wafer board over the windows and it’s quite possible that some homeless folks were living there. The night before we were scheduled to leave, someone knocked on the door, left and then returned a couple hours later asking for money. The hosts explained this by mentioning a local church that does outreach in the area. I don’t know where the church was located, but this isn’t the sort of thing that you want to experience while on vacation with your family. We left that night instead because my kids were not feeling safe and we were all ready for a good nights rest in our own beds. The listing won’t mention much about the location, so I really hope that this helps someone else down the line. Again, the house was nice but the location is very undesirable. Also, whoever remodeled this property must have an infatuation with Bill Murray because he was pictured in almost every room on every wall.

Hi Ricky, we explain in detail that this property is in a working class transitional area. What that means is some streets are nice, others are rough. Some houses are nice, some need work. There is a church down the street that feeds the homeless. In my opinion that is a great thing and I am proud of that in my area. You waited til the last day to express any kind of negative sentiment, and we offered to help in any way we could. I think if you are offended by seeing people with less money thank yourself, maybe you should book in downtown Charleston or a hotel next time. Since your stay we have had nothing but great guests and great guest experiences so despite the reality of our neighborhood (of which I'm proud to be from) i think this is as the kids say, a you thing.
