About this property

Rockwood Falls Cabin

Romantic getaway with a private waterfall in the hills of southern Ohio

Escape to Rockwood Falls Cabin — a beautifully designed one-bedroom retreat built exclusively for couples seeking privacy, comfort, and the beauty of nature. Tucked away on 100 peaceful acres of the Timber Ridge property, this cabin combines cozy charm with unforgettable outdoor experiences, making it the perfect destination for anniversaries, honeymoons, or simply slowing down together.

A Peaceful, Private Setting

Rockwood Falls Cabin sits in a secluded location surrounded by natural beauty, with no other cabins or houses in sight. The property is alive with wildlife — deer are a common sight — and the hills are especially breathtaking in the fall when the trees explode with color.

Please Note: The cabin’s driveway includes a gravel hill when entering or leaving. We recommend that guests use an AWD or 4WD vehicle if available for added ease and peace of mind. While many guests have navigated it without issue in 2WD vehicles, we feel it’s best to recommend AWD/4WD when possible.

While the setting is peaceful, we believe in being fully transparent: the cabin is located near a single-lane rural township road that normally sees very little traffic. However, during the school year (mid-August through late May), the road does experience increased traffic on school days between 7:30–8:00 a.m. and again from about 2:40–3:00 p.m. due to a nearby school. Most guests find it only a minor occurrence, but we want you to be aware.

Plenty to Explore

Guests have access to miles of private hiking trails across the property, as well as two large, fully stocked fishing ponds — home to bass, bluegill, and crappie. One of these ponds features the signature waterfall that gives Rockwood Falls its name. This cascading water feature isn’t just for looks — guests are welcome to swim in the pond, lounge nearby, or simply listen to the soothing sound of the falls.

Comfortable and Well-Equipped

Inside, you’ll find a warm and inviting living space with a plush queen -size bed and a kitchenette is stocked with cookware, utensils, and modern appliances. Everything you need for a romantic dinner, a morning coffee ritual, or a relaxed weekend breakfast is right at your fingertips.

The indoor bathroom is simple and functional, but the highlight for many guests is the private seasonal outdoor shower — an invigorating way to rinse off after hiking, swimming at the waterfall pond, or simply enjoying a sunny day.

An Outdoor Space Made for Relaxing

Step outside and you’ll find everything you need for a perfect evening under the stars. The hot tub offers a relaxing soak after a day of exploring. The fire pit is ideal for toasting marshmallows, sharing a bottle of wine, or just enjoying the peaceful night sounds. A gas grill is ready for easy outdoor cooking, and warm, inviting lighting brings the whole space together.

Exclusively for Two Guests

Rockwood Falls Cabin is intentionally limited to two guests to ensure privacy and a peaceful environment. Every stay includes meticulous cleaning and sanitization, with fresh linens, towels, and toiletries provided. We’ve carefully stocked the cabin with everything you might need so you can relax from the moment you arrive.

The Beauty of Southern Ohio — The “Little Smokies”

Your stay at Rockwood Falls Cabin places you in the heart of one of Ohio’s most beautiful and underrated regions. Often referred to as the “Little Smokies” for its rolling hills, lush forests, and misty morning views, this area offers a landscape that feels worlds away from the bustle of everyday life.

We’re located just a short drive from the Ohio River, where you can take in scenic views or stroll along the famous floodwall murals — a vibrant outdoor art display depicting the area’s rich history. Nature lovers will appreciate the nearby Shawnee State Forest, Ohio’s largest state forest, offering endless opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, and photography. The winding country roads, changing seasonal colors, and peaceful valleys make this a year-round destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

Local Flavor & Small-Town Charm

When you’re ready to explore beyond the cabin, you’ll find countless locally owned restaurants serving everything from hearty comfort food to chef-inspired dishes. Many offer cozy atmospheres and warm hospitality that make dining out in southern Ohio a special part of your trip. You’ll also discover boutique shops, antique stores, and charming small-town streets perfect for a leisurely afternoon.

Your Digital Guide to the Area

Before arrival, guests receive a personalized digital welcome guide packed with helpful information — from step-by-step check-in instructions to local dining recommendations, sightseeing tips, and a list of nearby attractions. Whether you want to explore historic Portsmouth, wander Shawnee State Forest, take in the Ohio River views, or simply unwind in nature, our guide helps you make the most of your time here.

The perfect getaway to relax, unwind and unplug

This cabin is a little out of the way, and kind of in the middle of nowhere, but it was such a blessing! When we pulled up it was like a little oasis. The treated waterfall pond was great to swim and float in after hiking all day and the outdoor shower was very handy. There was great fishing in the bigger ponds on the property too (the owners were very kind, they allowed us use of their peddle boat too). The cabin itself was meticulously clean and the outdoor entertainment space was really well done. At the end of the day we sat in the pair of massage chairs, my only complaint is that we didn't stay longer. We are planning to visit again soon!

Relaxing Getaway

The rental house and property are fabulous. There are many special touches! We spent our days hiking and our evenings relaxing by the fire pit enjoying music. We also enjoyed pizza one night at Giovanni's which had great pizza and a friendly staff.
