About this property

1850 Charleston Single - Historic District: Walk to everything

Legal and Licensed rental (OP2024-05543). Comfortable 1200sf, 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath, renovated 1850 single located in old historic district in downtown Charleston in the active Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighborhood. Private courtyard with off-street parking for two smaller cars or one large truck. Walk out the door to the King Street design and restaurant district, the Visitor Center, the Farmers Market, and everything Charleston has to offer.

The house is furnished with an eclectic mix of modern and antiques. It includes a fully equipped open kitchen, a living and dining room and a powder room downstairs, a master bedroom with a king bed, a second bedroom with two twin beds and a bathroom upstairs. Also included is a washer/dryer, flat screen TV with cable, hi-speed internet, and a docking station. The outdoor area includes a table and chairs. Outdoor dining area limited if two vehicles parked off street.

IMPORTANT!!! Please take notice that a large adjacent development is scheduled to start in December 2024 and will last through 2026. This work will pretty much affect all businesses and residences in the area, including all legal short term rentals in peninsular Charleston (our neighborhood is the only one where owners are not required to reside on the property during guest stays). The City allows work M-SA, 7AM to 6PM. It is also possible that there will be concrete work allowed earlier in the day. It will unfortunately be disruptive for everyone. The bright side is there will be a new park adjacent to us upon completion and we won’t stare onto an empty unmaintained parking lot.

Check out d'Alessandros Pizza, Chubby Fish, Barsa Tapas Bar, The Daily, Chez Nous, Revolution Coffee, the Grocery, Vern’s, The Ordinary, Indaco, Leon's, The Darling Oyster, Maison, Little Jack's Tavern, Cannon Green, The Rarebit, Malagon, and Island Provisions... all within a few blocks. Shop the King Street stores or explore the Cannon/Elliotborough boutiques like Indigo & Cotton, Mac&Murray and Beads on Cannon. Day spas, salons and yoga studios are also located in close proximity.

Located convenient to College of Charleston, MUSC, Charleston School of Law, and The Citadel. 20 minute drive to beaches and 15 minutes to Charleston International Airport. Quick access to all major transportation routes.

Owners are nearby and can promptly respond to concerns or offer assistance as needed.

Cancellation Policy: If Guest wishes to cancel his/her reservation, the deposit will be refunded as follows:

100% of rental fee and taxes if cancelled 30 days or more prior to the Check-in Date
50% of rental fee and taxes if cancelled 14-29 days prior to the Check-in Date

The entire deposit plus any balance of the rental fee (less cleaning fee and security deposit) will be forfeited if the cancellation is less than 14 days prior to the Check-in Date. Shortened stays will be considered a cancellation and subject to this cancellation policy.

It was a great girls trip. Frank the host was so informative about the area. Restaurants and things to do in Charleston. Our location was ideal. We walked and took an uber when needed. Very close to everything. The pizza place across the street from really good. And the breakfast bakery too.

Only a few blocks from King street and the bus stop which was prefect! So many coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance.House is definitely historic which was cool however be prepared the floors (I assume) are original so bring some slippers and you can hear everything going on outside. If you’re a light sleepers bring earplugs. Owners have done a great job at restoring this property! It was neat to say we stayed a house that was almost 200 years old:)

Family vacation

We enjoyed staying here. The home had all we needed. It was thoughtfully put together. We were all very comfortable. The on-site parking with a gate that can be closed when we went to bed was a great plus.

Awesome historic Charleston home!

We loved our stay in this beautifully renovated historic home! It had everything we needed for our stay and was Very clean. It was convenient to everything! We certainly got our steps in each day but that was good with all the food we ate! Super nice to have parking on site too! We only drive one day to see the plantations otherwise we walked to all we needed to see! Can’t wait to come back!

Short but very sweet

Our family of 4 (2 adults + 2 kids; 13 and 9) stayed in this charming house for a few days in July. We were mostly out touring but this house was perfect for a brief respite in the afternoon and complete comfort in the evenings. We also enjoyed mornings on the porch. Quiet location and close proximity to downtown. Walkable if you’re up to it (1 mile), supremely easy to find an Uber. Felt like home away from home, even if for a brief visit (4 days). The host was very prompt, attentive and helpful with any questions.

Great location. Clean and stylish place.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house has a great layout, with 2 BR upstairs and kitchen/living downstairs (note: master BR is right on the street, so it does get noisy sometimes). Walkable to a great bakery and restaurants. We ubered downtown for about $6 one way. The only downsides were: 1. The checkin instructions indicated that owner wanted to meet in person and to call them 1-2 hours before arrival. We called in advance, but didn't hear back. We arrived at check in time and no one was there. We called again and the owner picked up (thank goodness!) and quickly told us how to get in. But it was like he was surprised to hear from us. This was a minor inconvenience, but our expectations were set to have this warm personal welcome. 2. The clothes dryer was not functional and started crazy beeping in the middle of the night. We ended up having to find the breaker box and throw the breaker for the dryer. It was a bummer not to have access to the dryer, especially with beach trips every day. But like #1, this was minor in the grand scheme of things. We loved staying in the house.

The place was incredibly cute, well maintained, very clean. The only problem is the noise factor. The owner did let us know about construction however there was a lot of loud music until 1-2 AM which wasn’t very good. Also, in front of the house there is a bump from the construction that cars go over all times of the evening, which kept us up. Overall, great location, very safe, you can walk anywhere you’d like, great restaurants, and again the place was really cute.

Beautiful historic home

This is a lovely home in a great location. The owner is easy to work with. We only had two issues. The water in the upstairs sinks is very weak and the beds are uncomfortable. All three beds had a hard mattress on a metal frame. The kitchen is well stocked and the couch is comfy. The porch was perfect for relaxing. There is quite a bit of foot traffic which made it enjoyable for us people watchers. The private driveway is a plus. If you are planning a trip to Charleston this home would be a great choice.

Perfect!

Frank’s home was absolutely perfect for our stay. It was an easy walk to everything. I especially appreciated the gated property since it was an all girls trip. We slept amazing. The large upstairs bathroom made it easy for several to get ready at the same time. The extra half bath was convenient as well. Frank was a great host. We would definitely stay here again if back in Charleston. Thank you!!
