The house was very clean and in a nice neighborhood. It was close to everything we needed. The patio and yard were great. The dining table and living room furniture were a bit small for our needs. It’s a cute house and the host is helpful and easy to communicate with.
We have stayed at no fewer than 10 properties in Springfield due to family living in the area. This cute one ranks at number one. Very nice layout, clean, lots of light and beds were comfy. Really enjoyed our night there and am hopeful to stay again!Excellent location. location
This was the perfect place for our group! We just needed a single night in town where we could cook a good meal and have a good night sleep. This place was just that and more! The back porch was a perfect place to unwind after a long weekend. The BBQ grill was in great shape and we made some amazing steaks! Will definitely stay here again when in town!
Loved our stay atThe University House. Jack was very sweet and also his brother. They answered all questions in timely manner. We will definitely be staying there again next time we come to Springfield..
I have to be honest about this property because the reviews we had read before booking were not accurate for the experience we had. My friends and I went to Springfield for a concert. It was raining and the code for the door next to the tiny driveway wouldn’t work so we had to lug all our luggage’s, bags, food, etc. Around to the front door. We put all our things in the main room and left to go get dinner and attend the concert. When we returned we played a few games and had a few drinks. Upon going to bed there was a spider hiding under one of the pillows on the master bed that was about 2.5-3” including its legs. We started to look more closely. The baseboards were filthy, the ceiling fans had black dust bunnies built up on them, the shower had a line of mold around it. In the morning I saw another spider in the book shelves w a dead bug caught in its web and the coffee maker still had a used, crusty coffee filter in it. This house was not cleaned well. Upon communications with the host I was ensured I would hear from them and receive a refund and, 3 weeks later, I am still having to deal with them. I went above the host due to lack of response from him. I sent him pictures of all the filth, coffee filter, and bugs. Unfortunately, this was my friends’ first experience with VRBO and I was embarrassed at how bad this house was. My past experience with several other homes have been awesome!!! This experience was more than disappointing!!
We liked this house and it served our purposes. It was not as clean as other places we’ve stayed (could us a deep clean but we also came in after an extended stay group), and it lacked some amenities (only 4 sets of dishes, only 4 chairs at the table, not a lot of kitchen cookware) that made it more challenging for our family of 5. The neighborhood is very quiet and nice. The host was very kind. The bunk bed room does have an exterior door, which was not ideal for young kids. They’ve done a great job of modernizing an old home with accents and furniture. Checkout was simple with only a few asks before we left.
Place was fine, host contact fine. Not happy with the message day before our stay that the top bunk was for children only- we were supposed to have 3 adult sons with us and would have been short a bed if one son hadn’t changed plans. That should be in the original listing. Also had a half drunk bottle of wine on the liquor cart- like we would want to finish someone else’s wine. Overall was clean, some disturbing mystery stains on one comforter. Also we came in late (like 9:00 pm) and no lights, no porch light, no street lighting. Made it difficult to get inside.
House was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Really enjoyed the covered back porch in the evenings. Close to a lot of shops and restaurants. Would definitely recommend as a place to stay in Springfield.
