Escape to the ultimate summer retreat at our newly built, four-bedroom, two-bath gated carriage house on Smith Mountain Lake — perfect for families, friends, or couples ready for sun-soaked lake days.

Start your mornings with coffee on one of two spacious decks as the water sparkles below — and keep an eye out for our favorite visitors, the beautiful bluebirds that love to perch nearby and are such a joy to watch. Spend your afternoons swimming, boating, kayaking, or fishing right from the private dock. Inside, sweeping lake views fill the home with natural light, and beautiful reclaimed wood details from a historic barn once on the property add warmth and character. Three bedrooms feature brand-new Tempur-Pedic mattresses, ensuring restful sleep after full days on the water.

As evening sets in, gather around our brand-new fire pit — the perfect spot for s’mores, stories, and relaxing under the stars. Fire up the grill, dine al fresco on the patio, and unwind in the hot tub as the sun sets.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:

Load and start the dishwasher

Strip any used beds and gather used towels

Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish

Turn off the lights and lock the doors

Wash towels/washcloths ONLY in the washing machine and start the load in the dryer prior to departure.

Strip linens from all used beds and place all bed linens in a pile in the bunkroom/game room on the middle level.

Take out trash to the bins found at the upper end of driveway under the large tree. Wednesday is trash pickup day.

Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

Follow Rules found in The Welcome Book, located in the Rental Agreement. Home suited for guests with positive rental experience.

This home is directly on the waterfront with no fence. Children should be supervised by an adult at all times. Only registered guest allowed.

Bring your own life vest and use when near water. Use precautions when using the dock, deck areas, and entering and exiting hot tub.

This was a very nice place to stay. The host is very communicative and had a beautiful home with great views. Our family really enjoyed the upgraded decor in the home as well. It has plenty of of options for everyone from a spa to kayaks.

The house is on a great part of the lake. Nice water off the dock and the use of the kayaks was super!! Dock area had plenty of space for everyone to hang out and enjoy the day ! in the evening it was a great place for everyone to hang out. Beds were all comfortable and kitchen had plenty of plates, glasses and pots and pans for our crew. Host were happy to help with recommendations and communicated well. Would absolutely go back for another visit.

Beautiful property. Everything was clean. We loved the views of the lake and of the nature surroundings with deer, otters, owls and bald eagle. The hot tub was clean and nice to relax in. We ate outside on the upper deck for our meals and played board games. The dock was great to swim, dock the boat, kayak and jump off into the lake. We hope to return soon.

Everything was perfect from getting in early to a late checkout we couldn’t have asked for more. The house was amazing with incredible views and so much outdoor spaces from the decks to the dock and the fire pit area. It was a perfect spot for me and my family, thanks to our host Amanda who was always quick to respond with answers to all my questions.

Ladies Retreat

There were 7 of us and we had a lovely time. Catching up and enjoying the dock and relaxing on our tubes! The kitchen was a great gathering place while we prepared our meals.

Amazing Views

We had an amazing week at SML! The house is set up for each window to have an amazing view of the lake. The location is perfect, and the dock is perfect for sitting, fishing, swimming, and boating. We can't wait to come back!

Lake Life

We loved our stay at the Tree House. All of the beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room. Having the dock right there made mornings wonderful for kayaking and fishing. All of us enjoyed swimming from the dock and catching the ice cream boat.

Last Sail Before the Veil

The house was absolutely beautiful and cozy! Plenty of room to spread out. The view was gorgeous from all levels of the house. Deer grazing in the yard every morning. Loved being out in the country but a short drive from restaurants and the grocery store. Plenty of amenities!

The Treehouse was a beautiful home with spectacular lake views. This was our first SML visit and the stores and grocery are about 15 minutes away. Bedford is about 30 minutes away and we enjoyed the D Day monument tour there as well. We went to Moneta several times to eat and enjoyed the restaurants there. The home had all the kitchen basics and the beds were very comfortable. The lay out of the house did have us going up and down the stairs quite a bit which was fine for our group of 4 middle aged adults but if you have mobility issues it may not be the best fit. We enjoyed our stay and the dock was especially nice to sit and relax and watch the boats go by. We also saw lots of wildlife such as deer, a mink and variety of birds. Easy check in and out process and good host communication.

Great with a few exceptions that aren’t the hosts fault

Our whole family loved it! Our only disappointment was due to broken kayaks from previous vacationers. Out host was gracious and offered to reimburse us on a kayak rental, however due to our short stay we did t want the hassle of going through that process. Please be nice with the owner's property so that other vacationers can enjoy it. Overall we had a great time and really liked the property (although please note that there are a lot of stairs to go up and down). Hosts were great on communication.
