This rustic, yet very comfortable log home is placed in a peaceful setting bordering many acres of forest service property. There are trails for mt. biking, hiking, cc-skiing, snow shoeing, right out the back gate. There is a UTV trailhead a mile away.
The house is quite unique. The half of the house over the garage is an addition that I built myself. The master bedroom is in the loft above the kitchen. Some unique features include two hidden storage drawers that look like walls of a fireplace and another that looks like a nine foot tall log wall. There are interesting light fixtures, such as the aspen log over the dining table, or the rope over antique pulley lights. There is whole-house SONOS sound system with 11 pairs of speakers hard-wired to individual volume controls that also serves the Jacuzzi, deck, and patio. There is a fake gold mine with an antique ore cart from the Homestake mine. I built the sauna with logs from the property. The old great room (pretty-good room) has a Samsung Frame TV that can display a variety of art curations from a large library. Perhaps you'll enjoy my "favorites". I have it cycle a new piece every three minutes. You can also cast photos from your phone, or watch shows on it. The screen pulls down and out for viewing from the recliner-sofa. It also has two rocking chairs facing a picture wilndow with a beautiful view to the west.
It has a loft master bedroom with a log king (Purple) bed and a Murphy twin bed in the master closet. They share a 3/4 bathroom. There is a log queen bed in the basement bedroom with an attached 3/4 bath. The basement family room has a cabinet Murphy queen bed and you share the same 3/4 bathroom. One main floor bedroom has a log bunk bed with a queen (Purple) mattress on the bottom and a twin above it. There is also another small bedroom with a log twin bed. The main floor has a handicap accessible full bathroom.
The kitchen accommodates many cooks and the table has six leaves to stretch it to about ten feet. The accompanying bench also has three leaves to make it longer. The inductive cooktop can double as a serving counter with a pad over the surface. The 4'x7' island is a social gathering spot, and works well for serving.
There are many places to find peace and quiet and find a view from inside the house. There are also many places to enjoy alone time, or grandkid time outside with a view too. The hammock near the sauna, or in the glider-bench facing the beautiful view to the west. You can also light the wood fire in the sauna and sweat your stress away. There's nothing better to do to your body's largest organ, the skin. The stamped concrete patio also has great places to listen to music, socialize, and enjoy the views. There are two glider rockers that can face the view to the west, or east. There is a "Fred Flintstones couch", a bench swing, picnic tables, and other patio furniture.
The Jacuzzi has a tub-surround to make it look like a cedar round tub. It is a 2024 model and has great views of both the sunrise and the sunset. Try making your own pizza in the wood-fired pizza oven. Depending on fire danger, you may be able to have a campfire in the fire pit. Perhaps you would cook in the dutch oven over the campfire.
The abundant wildlife will provide daily sitings of not just deer and turkeys, but also feral (wild) peacocks. My grandkids and I have had them eat out of our hands. If you see them coming, you can put some sunflower seeds (provided) out for them to eat off of deck posts etc. Lead them to you when you will be in the Jacuzzi.
It is located about six miles northwest of Rapid City, the "city of presidents". Downtown Rapid City has 44 life sized statues of presidents. You can scan the QR code and listen to the audio explaining their lives.
Conveniently located off of beautiful Nemo Road, which carves a curvy, hilly, scenic path through the Hills. There is a half mile of well-maintained, gravel road leading to the house.
