It was a very nice location, though the overwhelming smell of a cat and its litter box was unbearable at first. No matter the cleaning we did or air fresheners we bought it barely held back the smell. I’m not sure if it’s the owners or someone brought a cat in a bag the previous stay, it was terrible.

Our sincere apology. It is NOT a cat. There is a raccoon problem in that area and at the present we are trying to have them trapped out as they set up house underneath the house. Wildlife here is sometimes a real problem.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The home was exactly as described very clean and the updated kitchen was amazing ...well stocked a gourmet chef would be impressed. Maybe a Kuerig would have iced the cake. All beds were very clean and master was extra comfy. 1 st night we were awoked to a load chirping smoke detector with spent batteries. Can't fault owner as I even wait till they chirp to change may batts. The homerun was the kids could actually ski out and back to the back door where we had had hot meals and a warm fireplace to cozy up to. Gas FP no mess just press a button...kept shoes warm by the fire the whole time. Beech Mtn chalets are the absolute nicest and most professional staff..we have used them before an I strongly suggest working with them directly. My only complaint was the TV in master did not work.Small but I am a TV guy so take it down and don't tease me if it doesn't work..oh did I mention heated floors in master bath..soo nice...truly amazing place and great job to everyone that helped make our stay the best one so far. We come every year for skiing and this house makes it so much easier on us parents to ski out. Also did I mention deer all overThank youRick and Ashley

This would be a fantastic five star review if not for a few things. To note, there is a bad mold, mildew, or as someone has described “litter box” odor that they are trying to mask with air fresheners which just makes it worse. We didn’t complain, knew it was what it was.Dishwasher also was not working and was full of dirty dishes from previous guest that we had to wash. We called about it and they apologized and had someone come out who said they knew about it and they just needed to get a new dishwasher, there was nothing that could be done about it.The last of the issues and one that I hope is still resolved. You should be aware that when booking on VRBO they give you the total of what the stay will be, first payment and second payment equals total amount taxes and fees included. When going over what we were actually charged they had tacked on an additional convenience fee, 250 with taxes, that was not part of the listing anywhere. After further review, it was in the final receipt, but not listed anywhere else. I called about it and have been told they are looking into it so we will see.We really did still enjoy our stay and I hate to leave anything other than a high review. Location, with the walkway to slopes is great and it fit our families perfectly. Didn’t mind the couple of hiccups, but when I feel like they are “sneaking” charges that aren’t a part of the listing it has left a sour taste in my mouth.

So much potential but falls flat!

The location was the only winner with this house. We had multiple issues including a broken fireplace ( it was in the single digits!!!) and there is something going on with the roof above the fireplace. It looks like water is dripping down or something! Then we had a broken dishwasher, upstairs bathroom shower has no hot water, tv in the main living area did not work, no salt for the icy stairs, the porch light in front at night did not work and was a strobe light when it triggered, adding to the dangers of navigating the icy stairs and finally the kitchen was a disaster of hodge podge pots and pans that are all so old and scratched up the fire alarm would go off because they started smoking. I had to call the rental company as the basic of the house were not even there. No coffee filters, no dish detergent for dishwasher ( not that it mattered). There was only one drying dish rag in the kitchen. This house could be a winner if someone took the time to go thru the house and make sure it is in working order!

This is with a couple of exceptions a total fabrication. Tamlyn checked in early so the steps were not shoveled as they would have been had she not asked for an early check in. She called just after she checked in early to say there was no soap left, no coffee filters, the fireplace would not light and that she would like complimentary shampoo, etc. Checking with housekeeping they said that they left pump bottles of liquid soap plus the normal soap bars. They had left liquid dishwashing soap but had not put out the tabs for the dishwasher. Someone went to the house immediately with the items she requested plus the dishwasher tabs that she had not mentioned. The only thing that could not be remedied was the fireplace as the ignightor was not working. When she left on the date of departure she sent an email detailing the items about the house. That was the first time anyone had heard of these problems. It is not true that the pot/pans were filthy, they are fairly new Cuisanart 3 ply stainless and clean. The dishwasher works fine as the dishes she put in it are clean and dry. The hot water works fine in the upstairs in both the sink and bath tub. Tamlyn stated that she lives about 30 minutes away. I will gladly walk through the house with her should she want to come up to Beech before it is cleaned. I have no idea why she would fabricate these items but she did. Other than snow on the steps and the fireplace the rest is a figment of her imagination.
