We made wonderful family memories. Very spacious. This house has so much potential. However, cleaning crew gave minimal cleaning effort. Upon opening the door when we arrived, we walked into gum on the floor. Bathrooms had pee on the seat and around the base of the toilet. Bed sheets needed washed. They were not clean when we arrived. When we used the washer to wash the sheets, they came out covered in black Sulphur residue. Refrigerator leaks water. Hot tub never did work. We made the best of it, as we had no choice. The toilets are disgustingly stained. No effort to remove stains. I live with well water and know that the stains can be removed, with effort!

Thank you, Marlesa, for taking the time to share your experience. We’re glad to hear that your family was able to make wonderful memories together and that you found the home spacious, as that’s always our goal for larger groups. That said, we are truly sorry to read about the cleanliness and maintenance issues you described. This is not the level of condition we expect for our guests, and we take these concerns very seriously. Your feedback regarding the cleaning, laundry, appliances, plumbing fixtures, and hot tub has been forwarded to our housekeeping and maintenance teams for immediate review and corrective action. Had we been notified during your stay, we would have made every effort to address these items promptly. We appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention, as detailed feedback helps us identify areas that need improvement. While we regret that parts of your stay fell short of expectations, we do thank you for choosing our property and for sharing your experience with us.

The cabin smells overwhelmingly like septic. The water did not work first day. The hot water and heat did not work second day. There wasn’t enough room for trash and it’s a 30 min round trip to get rid of your trash at office. The cabin must of sat abandoned before our arrival. We had to contact Vrbo to have water and heat fixed. We did not drink or cook with water bc filter they pulled out looked disgusting and the chemical tank was empty. The hot tub was unusable. The owner never contacted us.

Thank you for your feedback. We're truly sorry that your stay did not meet expectations and want to sincerely apologize for the issues you experienced. We’d like to clarify that the septic odor and plumbing problems were not present prior to your arrival—these issues developed unexpectedly during your stay due to a plumbing malfunction that we could not have foreseen. As soon as we were made aware of the situation, we worked to resolve it as quickly as possible, and we regret the delay in getting everything addressed to your satisfaction. We understand your concerns about the water quality and the hot tub, and we’re currently conducting a full inspection and service of both to ensure they meet our standards. Regarding the trash situation, we acknowledge that the drive to the designated disposal location is not ideal, and we’re actively exploring more convenient solutions for our guests. We also want to apologize for any gap in communication. While our team responded through the appropriate channels, we understand it can feel frustrating when expectations for owner contact aren’t met. Thank you again for sharing your experience—it’s important to us, and we're using it to make necessary improvements for future guests.

I was so excited to take my family here for a fall break vacation. We were not told that only 2 of the rooms were actually private rooms. All rooms in basement either do not have a door or has an open closet between 2 rooms, no privacy for multiple couples to go with you (done like this to meet code because all rooms must have a window to exit in case of fire). Hot tub was leaking and broken. Master bath doors are pantry doors and you must grab underneath the bottom of the door to close them. Water pressure and temperature was not great. If you have multiple showers to be taken, we recommend spreading them out or some taken at night and some in AM. Water is not hooked to the fridge so no ice nor filtered water. Front door lock never worked the entire time we were there, back door worked fine. Never found an extra trash bag and reached out to host, no response. Something died in the laundry room or behind the wall either right before we got there or during the first day, did not leave doors open. Reached out to host with no response. This place could really be a great place but it definitely needs some things changed to be accurate with the listing. Also, be careful going up to loft area, there is a sign on the way down to tell you to watch your head but they need one on the way up as well. My mom almost knocked herself out when going up.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're truly sorry to hear that your stay didn’t meet expectations, especially during what should have been a relaxing fall break with your family. We appreciate your detailed feedback—it’s incredibly helpful as we work to improve. The layout of the home does include open-concept sleeping spaces designed to meet safety codes, but we understand how this may not have provided the privacy you expected, and we’ll revisit how this is communicated in the listing. We sincerely apologize for the maintenance issues you encountered, including the hot tub, front door lock, and water pressure. These should have been addressed promptly, and we’re very sorry you didn’t receive a response when reaching out—that is not the level of service we aim to provide. We're currently following up with our team to ensure communication and response times are improved moving forward. Thank you also for pointing out the safety concern in the loft and the missing basic items like extra trash bags and water hookup to the fridge. We’ll take all of this into account as we make updates to better align the property with guest expectations and our own standards. We hope you’ll consider giving us another chance in the future, and again, we genuinely appreciate your honest feedback.

Why they chose this property

Nestled at the doorstep of the breathtaking Great Smoky Mountains, Gatlinburg offers the perfect blend of natural beauty, small-town charm, and endless adventure. You can spend your mornings hiking scenic mountain trails, your afternoons exploring local attractions, and your evenings relaxing with peaceful views that feel a world away from everyday life.

What truly sets Gatlinburg apart, though, is its vibrant Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community—the largest independent organization of artisans in North America. This 8-mile loop is filled with locally owned galleries, working studios, and one-of-a-kind shops where you can meet the artists, watch them create, and take home authentic handmade pieces you won’t find anywhere else. From hand-thrown pottery and custom woodwork to homemade candles and Appalachian treats, the Arts & Crafts Community gives your vacation a personal, meaningful touch.

If you’re looking for a getaway that combines mountain serenity with rich local culture, Gatlinburg—especially the Arts & Crafts Community—is truly the best spot to experience it all.

What makes this property unique

This home is in the heart of the "Glades", known as the arts and crafts community. The best place to find our local artists, candle makers, wood carvers, etc, the arts and crafts community gives you way more than the standard artisan fare you'd find at Dollywood. A must see for anyone who wants to shop local and get unique souvenirs for back home!

When you stay at a Bear Camp Cabin Rental property, you will also receive one free ticket to all of these attractions per paid day of your stay.
