We were in town for my cousins memorial.Absolutely fabulous place overlooking the valley I remember from my childhood.Very comfortable beds and so welcoming to pets and people as well! Treats for everyone and so many special touches. We loved the music room since we are musicians ESP the theramin!!! Haven’t seen one in quite awhile.Of course hot tub was great… actually in better condition than most vrbos we’ve stayed at. With good jets!So many stories throughout the cabinAnd the artwork is worth a day to take in.Super comfy beds too.We absolutely loved it and would definitely recommend it!
Cozy yet large cabin in the woods! It was very homey there. The hot tub on the deck was a favorite. It's also very secluded, yet a close drive to amenities. Loved our stay!

Beautiful and quiet propert. Loved listening to animals in the morning and at night in hills around the cabin. The cabin is very safe and whimsical homey. We will be back next year!
Mike and I enjoyed our visit. We've been there several times and it's always great. My grand-niece (6 yoa) and her parents came up for the weekend; she is starting to refer to Hummingbird Hill as 'our cabin'. As in telling her friends, 'we're going up to our cabin'. :-) Love that kid! And, the best part is always the hummingbirds. It was November and there were STILL a few of them around. I was so pleased they were there.
Rustic log structure in a remote location. Stocked with everything you could ever need. Quiet and comfortable. We used the hot tub every night. Good for groups wanting to access the Tieton and Naches area.
Was a wonderful clean stay. Very private/secluded area that was perfect for getting away from everything. The family loved it. The only drawback is I wish I brought more people because the place is huge. The owner was in great communication and very pleasant to interact with
The house was full of lots of things to do. Our only disappointment was lack of cell reception in the area which made it difficult to navigate. But we still had a great time

I'm glad you had a lot of fun things to do. Note that Cell service is available for Verizon and US Cellular, and AT&T service is about one mile away, but it is not needed, because WiFi is available for all guests and can be used on all phones, tablets, and laptops. WiFi calling can be used for making phone calls as well as a land line, so your communication needs are covered at Hummingbird Hill.
The entire house was fully furnished and convenient. So much for our family to do without leaving the property. It really felt like our old home we grew up in Hawaii.
Our group of 12 had plenty of space to relax and rest over the weekend.
The BBQ and hot tub were great features.
We’d stay here again - highly recommend it!
We were looking for a place big enough for our group of empty nesters who love to go jeeping and Hummingbird Hill was perfect. Jim made check in so easy and smooth. The cabin was in a great location and fit our group with ease. We had a wonderful time cooking meals, laughing on the deck and soaking in the hot tub. A great spot and if we find ourselves in Naches again, we’ll look Jim up! Thank you for your wonderful cabin.
We’ve stayed at Hummingbird Hill several times and have LOVED it! Painted pumpkins, enjoyed the hot tub, cooked together and had an amazing time. We even had a hummingbird visit us on the last day. We were very blessed!
Besides making our family feel completely at home, they made sure our pets felt just as welcomed with gifts and goodies for them as soon as we walked through the door. Jim is a great host!!

About the host
Hosted by Jim Farrier
I'm Jim Farrier and I purchased this wonderful log home as a weekend home and vacation escape. I love the mountain air with the gentle summer here and the deep fluffy snow in the winter. For 20 years, I've worked about 210 miles away in Vancouver, so I drive a lot, but I've made it here most weekends in the past 17 years. My interests are nature, meditation, gardening, music, science, business, AI, energy, spirituality, hiking, exploring, creative thinking, alternative health, developing peace and well being. I believe that life is complex with unseen forces and that we are all connected with our roots into the land. I like unusual unique things that have real value even though only a few special people can see the true worth.
I grew up in Tigard, Oregon and lived in Portland much of my life. I became tired of the city and I was fascinated and drawn to the Columbia Gorge and would travel and hike incessantly in the beautiful areas. I currently live in The Dalles and have a long commute. I worked for a division of a large multinational electronics corporation. My work has been multi-faceted, dealing with both Information Technology, Project Management, and Market Research. I like to use both the analytical and intuitive side of my brain for both my work and play. My education is continuing in IT, Project Management, electronics, communications, and business. I hold an MBA from Marylhurst University. I never stop learning and I keep pushing the envelope to understand life. I've recently obtained Project Management, Agile and CompTIA IT certifications.
This place allows me to really relax, but it is also a place to dream and be creative. I feel inspired every time I set foot on the property. Among the trees, the hills and the wood, life's problems seem to evaporate and real answers seem to come naturally and spontaneously. For me, this has been a marvelous place to dream, make music, enjoy relationships, write, learn and explore life to the fullest.
Why they chose this property
This mountain lodge is a peaceful place. It is a place to relax with room to spread out and expand in all directions. It can be a place to think and solve problems, but mostly to unwind and let your cares fade away. This place grew on me from the moment I saw it. It seemed spectacular and unusual in all respects. While I never expected I would use it much, I've spent hundreds of hours in the hot tub, relaxing, meditating, watching the birds fly above and the trees sway in the breeze against the backdrop of the steep rocky cliffs that make up the gorge walls. This place is magical for me and it feels alive with a gentle energy that holds and supports each thought and emotion. Being here brings peace of mind. Also, this has been a good place to visit with family and talk, relax and just have fun.
What makes this property unique
While it is relaxing in its own right, this place is a good jump-off point to explore the entire area from Mount Rainier National Park to all the points of interest in the Yakima valley and even further. The log construction makes this place have a different quality of sound, warmth, and comfort. There are over 200 art pieces, displayed. Some guests have described Hummingbird Hill as going to grandma's house. If you've ever wondered what it was like to live in a log house, you would hardly believe the difference and the nuances of the experience. It really grows on you.
