Free Snowshoeing-Kayaking-Rafting-Discounted Golf at the Rio Grande Club. Email us with inquiries. This listing is for all 3 cabins (Studio, Guest and Master) rented together. The Guest cabin is located on the far-left side in our main picture, the Master is located to the far right in the main picture. We live in the center building in the main picture and the Studio cabin is located directly behind our cabin. Please scroll through all the pictures to best understand the layout of our property. If you are looking for something on the Rio Grande River that is smaller or for fewer people, we also rent these cabins individually on VRBO; Studio (only cabin with a kitchen) VRBO.com 953410, Master cabin VRBO.com 955968, Guest cabin VRBO.com 955968
Our home is a Norwegian style dovetail log home with chinking in between the logs, we cut all the dovetail corners on site and set every log ourselves. It has 3 nicely decorated bedrooms all with queen beds and there is also a sofa sleeper, 6 people can sleep comfortably in beds. Each bedroom has its own TV with cable, HBO and DVD/VCR, we also have a DVD library of about 100 movies. One of the three bathrooms is also equipped with a washer and dryer. The kitchen might be considered more of an efficiency one with a smaller 4 top electric stove/oven, full size refrigerator and no dishwasher but is well appointed with all the accessories and utensils you might need.

Outside you will find a beautiful sail-shade covered (summer) picnic area along the banks of the river. The picnic area is equipped for cooking on a gas grill or in the fire pit area on the custom-made plow disc wok. Really want to relax, you can take a dip in the hot tub surrounded by beautiful flower gardens, and at night enjoy the endless stars.

We have inflatable kayaks, a raft and innertubes available for our guests to use free of charge (with waiver and damage deposit) to float in the river on a nice sunny day, 2-night minimum stay required. We will also shuttle guests for float trips when available and prearranged. In winter we also have snowshoes available for our guests to use and get out and explore the area. Seasonally

We are able to offer guests discounted golfing at the Rio Grande Club contact us for further information or to book a tee time.

The rental price is based on the season of the year you are here. We do our best to keep our VRBO calendar up to date (we also list cabins separately on this site). We usually respond within a couple of hours.

Love this place!

So here I am on VRBO trying to book for this summer's vacation and all I can think about is going back to Fritz and Paula's place. We left our hearts here last summer! Our two boys had a blast here fishing, kayaking, playing washers with Sadi... We loved the area and we loved Fritz & Paula. It was such a fabulous experience it has spoiled me for considering other rentals in other states because I can't imagine it will be as much fun as we had there. Book it. You won't be sorry; except when you have to leave. We may be headed to Wisconsin this year, but I have no doubt we'll be back to Riverside Meadows soon.

Beautiful Location and Exceptional Hosts

What a delightful spot right on the Rio Grande! A reviewer mentioned that if you could rent all three cabins, do so. We did and absolutely loved our stay. The photos of the site and cabins are accurate. The cabins are spotless and the owners (Fritz and Paula) are some of the most welcoming and helpful that we have encountered in our almost 20 years of renting through VRBO and other sites. Our older grandson was out the door at 5:00 a.m. to fish the Rio Grande with some tutoring by Fritz on how to fly fish, while our younger grandson loved the trampoline and the provided games. Fritz and Paula could not have been more accommodating about taking us to sites to put in the kayaks and with one simple phone call, they were kind enough to meet us at the end of our trip to take out. If you want a great vacation removed from city hustle and bustle that is in a fabulous location, stay here.

Neat property complete with rushing river!

Fritz and Paula have a fantastic place! We loved the 3 different sleeping options. The river was my favorite! It had been raining the days leading up to our stay so it was really gushing! We enjoyed hanging out and the kids loved Fritz's LED hole hoops!

Great place to stay!

We rented all 3 cabins and really enjoyed our stay! It was perfect for multiple families or groups all traveling together. They had everything we needed and even went out of their way to take us up the rivier for kayaking multiple times! We had a blast and hope to stay here again. They have a great property with hiking, fishing, kayaking, and basically all the cool things you would find at a cabin in the mountains, yet still close to civilization once you leave the property. We loved it!

Tranquil, Convenient and Comfortable

We just returned home from our first trip to Colorado. I cannot think of a single bad thing to say about Riverside Meadows. Fritz and Paula are so welcoming and full of knowledge. The cabins, furnishings and property grounds are perfect. Every detail was thought of. It was our family and our friends and their daughter. We rented all three places. We put our teenage kids in the loft apartment with us two couples each getting one of the other cabins. It could not have been more perfect for our group. We hope to return to Riverside Meadows some day.

Riverside Meadows was PERFECT!

We stayed at Riverside Meadows with our family of 4 along with another family of 4. Each adult couple stayed in one of the smaller cabins, which were very roomy and extremely comfortable and cozy, while all the teenagers stated in the larger cabin with the full kitchen. I absolutely have NOTHING NEGATIVE TO SAY about our stay. Fritz and Paula were very accommodating and helpful with tips on tackling our first experience skiing Wolf Creek. IF you are second guessing staying here because the owners live here too, DONT BE!!! They do their own thing and it's not weird AT ALL! They are very down to earth and relaxed. We all want to come back and most likely will as soon as possible. I want to add that once you pull into the driveway, it looks like a Hallmark Movie Channel Christmas movie. We were sad to leave.

Awesome!

Riverside Meadows is an unbelievable place. My husband and I found it to be above and beyond any expectations we had. Fritz , Paula and Sadie are some of the friendliest people we have ever met. The cabins are spotless and beautifully built. The setting is magical. We are so glad Fritz talked us into trying the river kayak. We had a blast! Fritz was beyond accommodating as to put in and pick up. We couldn't have asked for more. We have already booked two more nights for next month and plan to book many more. Thanks Fritz, Paula and Sadie for a wonderful time!

It's possible a better CO vacation value exists.....

.....but not likely. Or at least it would be exceedingly difficult to find. Consider all you get for your money.... - comfortable, clean, spacious, updated, private, quiet and tastefully decorated accommodations - excellent river front location that offers beautiful scenery and quick access to outdoor recreation - fishing, free kayak and raft services with guide(s)...all on site (literally right outside the front door) - very nicely manicured and maintained property and grounds - accommodating, unimposing, available and friendly hosts - clean, modern and well maintained hot tub - trampoline, tire swing, full scale teepee (seasonal) and friendly, playful pets - wifi and satellite TV as well as several dozen games and DVD's I'm sufficiently impressed with Riverside Meadow's "bang for the buck" I'm compelled to say this...if you don't agree you are, with all due respect, a person with unreasonable expectations. Period. If I were forced to be critical of any one thing it might be that it can be a little challenging to get to the kitchen if you're disabled (since it's located in the second story efficiency). Aside from that I've got nuthin'. It's highly likely we will return. Fritz and Paula have created something very special here and work extraordinarily hard to keep it that way.

Family Colorado vacation!!

We were looking for a Colorado vacation that would accommodate our group of 11. We had such a good time!! Fritz and Paula went above And beyond making our stay from kayaking, rafting, and overall playing fabulous! The cabins couldn't have been nicer. The beds were comfortable, the showers nice. If possible I recommend renting all three cabins, but if you rent one it is so worth the stay!! It was wonderful having Fritz and Paula on the property, they were pleasant to visit with and very sensitive to our privacy as well. When we needed something they were there to acommadate us. Thanks Fritz and Paula for a wonderful vacation we will be back and so will our friends!!

Awesome 4 day weekend

My wife and I (and two labs) just spent 3 nights, 4 days at Riverside Meadows and loved the property, the setting and the hosts. Being right on the river, surronded by beautiful scenery can't be beat. I'm almost 6ft 2" tall and had no issues in the studio apartment. We would book again! Oh yea- comfy beds and pillows, too.

Perfect in every way!

Our family of four was blessed to have found Riverside Meadows for a night during our recent tour of the SW. Fritz and Paula have truly created a "slice of heaven" in southern Colorado. The accommodations were high quality, comfortable and extremely clean. Grilling dinner over the riverside fire pit under the stars is a special memory. Ideal for Family Ski Vacation

My wife and I took my two kids and my parents for a ski trip; Riverside Meadows was the perfect place to call "home" during our vacation. The cabins are modern and very clean -- like new. We will return for a summer vacation and enjoy the Rio Grande river more.

Excellent Ski Trip

Family ski trip turned into a great adventure with our stay at Riverside Meadows. Arrived with snow falling and were greeted by Fritz and Paula. Able to unload and go to town for ski rental equipment. My wife and I stayed in the Master Cabin, while our three teenagers and dog, Dash, stayed in the Studio Cabin. We went skiing for three days and mostly slept and ate dinner at the cabins. We extended our stay one additional day to recuperate and take in the beauty of the property. The cabins were perfect and cozy with plenty of room. Fritz and Paula were available for any issues that may arise. Dash made a new friend during our stay. Kenai, owner's dog, and Dash played in the snow until Dash was worn out. Thank you Paula for taking Dash along with you on your daily adventures of skiing on the property and to the wildlife management area. Dash was worn out by the time we arrived from the ski area. I am more of a fisherman than a skier, so I only tried to imagine what the premises and river would look like in the summer time. The river appeared to be normally 50 yards wide, but was mostly covered with ice and snow and only a stream about 15 feet wide was trickling through the center of the ice. Our last night we had an outdoor fire by the river and the stars in the night sky were unbelievable. Thanks again for your hospitality and hope to return. Lance and Brenda Houston, Texas

Charming solitude

We visited Paula and Fritz in Nov. 2012, and encountered snow. It was too cold for many of the outdoor activities available in warmer weather. However, the cabin and area were beautiful. It was so peaceful to see the river in the snow. Our hosts were gracious and kind. Please note, there was nothing open in South Fork this time of year, so plan to drive about 15 miles to get to a restaurant if you are not renting the cabin with the kitchen.

Wonderful Setting, Beautiful and Clean Cabins on the River

My wife and I and our baby enjoyed 5 days at one of the cabins and couldn't have been happier. The cabins were clean and seemed to be very new. The property owner went above and beyond to be accomodating to our needs and never missed an opportunity to ask if we needed anything more. The cabin was right on the river which lulled us to sleep every evening and made it hard to leave. Would definitely recommend these cabins and we hope to be back soon.

Wonderful time!

Fritz and Paula have created a wonderful place to rest and renew. It far exceeded my expectations in beauty of site, friendliness and helpfulness of hosts, cleanliness and any other category I can think of. We stayed in the studio and brought our 2 dogs while our friends stayed in one of the cabins. We all agreed that we had such a nice time that we plan to go back. With the river running right next to the property, it made the 'trip' to go fishing extremely easy. Just walk a few steps to the bank of the river and there you are! An especially nice aspect of the stay was the great time we had at the fire ring at night. We met wonderful and interesting people and had an excellent time. Thanks Paula and Fritz. We look forward to coming again.

Our family used all 3 cabins & had a very enjoyable stay. The cabins were immaculate & had everything we needed. Beds & pillows were great, and Fritz & Paula did everything they could to make our stay perfect. The grounds & flowers were beautiful, as was the river right in front our cabins. You will love this place!

A great place for a vacation!!

Had a Great time!! Took our 5 children here for a short vacation. Fritz and Paula were very helpful and informative on the area and which places were good to hike. They know the area very well and can help you find whatever you are looking for. The trip down the river on the kayaks and raft was the highlight for all of us. The cabins were very nice with everything you could need available.

Riverside Meadows was built entirely by the Owners Fritz and Paula Allen along with their daughter Sadi and we would like to welcome you to out home. This is our primary residence and we will most likely be here for your stay, your private cabin will allow you as much privacy as you like and we will be available to help with any questions and / or problems that inevitably arise.

Why they chose this property

We are located on the banks of the Rio Grande River in a very private and secluded setting on 8 acres. Relax and enjoy the sounds of the river from your cabin, hammock or cooking out right next to the river. You can enjoy fishing from our property or take a float on some of the 17 miles of 'Gold Medal' waters from South Fork to Del Norte. Inflatable fishing raft and inflatable kayaks are available for our guests and if available we are happy to provide a shuttle and possibly act as a tour guide if you are looking for some social interaction. New this year we are able to offer guests discounted golf at the Rio Grande Club. During the shoulder seasons as low as $30 and during peak season as low as $39 including cart rental. We can make a reservation up to 30 days in advance.

What makes this property unique

Winter guests can enjoy use of our snowshoes for free. Take them out and explore our beautiful back country during winter. We will be happy to suggest some areas. Enjoy the outdoor fire pit year round with firewood provided. During the summer we have made available to our guest our 4 inflatable kayaks and a self bailing raft to use and enjoy while here. We recently added 4 high quality inner-tubes for floating as well. You would easily pay $500 per day for renting these items that are included for free, we are also available in the summer to help with vehicle shuttles.
