A three minute drive to Annette Nature Center and on to Lake Ahquabi State Park
Lake Ahquabi offers a walking path around the lake, mountain biking, fishing, paddle boats, canoeing and swimming. The park has just been renovated for additional enjoyment.
We reside on the farm in the house directly south of the house and we are always available should you have questions and/or concerns. If we are out and about doing chores or away we can be reached by our cell phone. Cell phone # listed in the House book.
This is an active farm with chicken's, goats, horses and cows. There is plenty of space for quite walks, hunting Morel mushrooms in the spring, fishing in the pond in our vast backyard, bird watching and just the peace and calm of rural Iowa.
We also have a play area with swing set and slide for the children. A favorite is a tree swing that can be enjoyed by all.
Bikes/Trikes (we have helmets)and outside toys for the children to use and play with. We also have fishing poles to use and worms, and life jackets, but do require an adult down at the pond when fishing.
With this property being an active farm we are often out and about working with the animals and doing outside upkeep. There will be people coming and going to purchase eggs and other farm commodities.

About the host
Hosted by Lori Long

We our originally from South Dakota, but made the move to Iowa to be closer to family. When we purchased the farm we updated the old farm house and built a new house on the 55 acres. We love our acreage and our little farm and thought we should share it with others. So here we are giving our guest the experience of a country farm living!
Why they chose this property
We love living out in the country on our Hobby Farm, There are many things that make our VRBO special; it is in the heart of our small hobby farm, with over 55 acres to explore during your stay, We live in the property as well. You will see us out and about doing chores and visiting with other customers that stop by to grab some fresh eggs.
What makes this property unique
We are a small working hobby farm. There is always hustle and bustle happening at The Hen House. There are many things to do right on the property. We have a swing set for the children, a pond for fishing, and farm animals to interact with, This will give you the feel of farm life, without the chores!
