The view was amazing. Very quiet. Fishing was a lot of fun! Really good bird watching! The house was clean and there is a great covered back porch. It was a great place to reset!

The cabin was clean and cozy, and the host was helpful when we decided to leave early. Guests should know that the lake sometimes has E. coli warnings in the summer—according to the county health department, this is a regular occurrence. Unfortunately, this meant we couldn’t swim, which is a big consideration if you have young kids who love the water.Wi-Fi and cell service were also spotty (I have Mint Mobile), so it’s best for those looking to fully unplug. This could be a wonderful quiet getaway, just plan ahead for limited swimming and connectivity. The cabin has an incinerator toilet, which works fine but takes a little getting used to. It does require being a bit “up close and personal,” and if you’re traveling with young kids, you’ll want to be ready to help and supervise them when using it.

Thank you for your input. I would like to remind you that all inland lakes have regular E-coli blooms, and it is something that is in constant change. You can look up pretty much all Michigan lakes to see what the current state of that lake is. I believe that it is common for only one area of a lake to be tested. As for Dumont Lake, they test the water at the county park, where there is a large flock of geese who has takenup residence there. E-coli is typically not a problem unless you are consuming quantities of lake water.
