About this property
Two-Bedroom Cottage
Located on Second Roach Pond within 100,000 acres of conserved land, Medawisla Lodge and Cabins is operated by the Appalachian Mountain Club, the country’s oldest recreation and conservation organization. Staying at Medawisla will provide opportunities to hike, bike, ski, fish and paddle out your front door. Your stay supports the AMC’s ongoing conservation efforts.
This ADA accessible cabin has a living room, two bedrooms, a kitchenette and a screened porch. The living room contains a table and benches, a futon, and a woodstove. The primary bedroom holds a queen bed while the ADA accessible bedroom holds a single twin. The bathroom holds a stall shower, toilet, sink and electric lights and outlet. Linens and pillows are provided as are wool blankets and bath towels. The kitchenette contains a small fridge, 2 burner stove top, and cold running water. Basic cooking utensils, pots, pans and serving ware are also provided. Cell service is poor and there is no internet available on campus. Despite electric lights, a headlamp or flashlight is strongly recommended.
If you do not want to cook, all meals are served in the main lodge and can be purchased ahead of time. The main lodge also has a living room which includes a library and small retail store.
A shared sauna is available upon request at the main lodge.
The drive to Medawisla Lodge takes you on logging roads which can be difficult to pass after major rain events in early June and late October. GPS can be inaccurate in the region and it is suggested that pay close attention to driving directions provided after making a reservation.
Free use of our fleet of canoes and kayaks is included in your stay and can be launched off our boat slip on Second Roach Pond. A common rocky beach swim area is a short walk from the cabin. If you intend to swim or boat, please bring your own beach towel.
There is a single campfire ring in camp with benches, and chairs. Firewood is provided and staff will light the fire upon request.
Our staff is knowledgeable about local recreation opportunities and point you in the right direction for gravel biking adventures, hiking trips, fishing spots, ski tours and great locations to spot local flora and fauna on land and on the water. Natural history presentations are often offered on site as well.
There is a meeting space available to rent if you have a larger group that would like to have a space set aside.
