About the host

Hosted by Charles & Faye Owens

Host profile image
Charles & Faye purchased the home in 2012 and renovated the cottage from top to bottom. We grew up in rural South Georgia and both love history, historic homes & furnishings. On a trip home from the beach ~10 years ago, Faye and I got our first dose of Savannah; we immediately fell in love the with charm and beauty of the City. For the next several years we would visit and dream of one day having our on piece of Savannah. The Captain's Cottage is now that piece for us; we enjoy visiting Savannah every chance we get as well as having the opportunity to share our home with you.

Not only do we enjoy Savannah, but so do our 4 beagles, Bug, Ellie, Lucy and Scout. They love strolling the streets and visiting the squares; most of all they love the attention they attract from their new friends they met along the way. Scout's favorite thing is to stand on the porch and greet the walking tours; he tries to see how many passersby he can sucker into a pet or tell him how cute he is....

We hope you enjoy our home & Savannah just as much as we do and look forward to being available to offer suggestions of our personal favorites.

Why they chose this property

Each time Faye and I visited Savannah we found ourselves walking through Washington Square; it is magnetic, peaceful and beautifully maintained with manicured landscape. So when we talked about purchasing a property we knew the perfect home would be near our favorite square, Washington Square.

After months of watching the internet listings we contacted a realtor. It took just one visit to the Captain's Cottage for us to know this was it. It was exactly what wished for, 2 houses off Washington Square, 2b/2b, single story with a courtyard..... the perfect choice for us and our Beagles. We enjoyed so much we moved just around the corner on East Broad.

What makes this property unique

The Captain's Cottage is in the heart of the Landmark District, the oldest section of Savannah. Just 2 blocks from the famous River Street; easy walk to Broughton Street for shopping and dining; there are literally more restaurants within walking distance than I can name.

Every visitor coming to Savannah will visit the Landmark District so stay in the heart of the points of interest.

Our tree-lined street is one of the most beautiful in Savannah. There is no better street for strolling and enjoying the beautiful architecture, warm southern breezes and historic charm. It will take just one visit to see why Savannah is named the 'Hostess City'.
