Loved this home! It was perfect for our family, spacious, well-appointed, and had a delightful view of the ocean. We watched a whale from the wonderful front porch!
Clean. Airy. Spacious. This is a wonderful place to enjoy ocean views and is conveniently located. Very comfortable with everything we needed. The deck is perfect for ocean views and meals. It’s very quiet and peaceful. A beautiful property!
We did not need to use the air conditioning at all! We left the sliding glass doors open and had a wonderful breeze off the ocean. There was a fan running on the steps to the upstairs and we left it run. It provided all the extra airflow that was needed. We had been a bit concerned since we prefer to sleep with it in the 60's. It was awesome to sit on the porch, soak in the sunshine and scenery, have breakfasts (with a nice mimosa or coffee) when we weren't out running around hiking and exploring. This home is in the middle of just about everything 1 1/2 hr to Volcano National Park, Pololu Beach, and Kona . an extra 30 mins to Captain Cook. The kitchen had everything we needed. We ate in several nights and always cooked breakfasts. We spoke with Ron several times during our stay just to keep in touch, not that we needed anything. We truly felt at home. I loved the geckos!! they are so elusive they definitely don't want to be around people.
This is a 10 Star home! (but not if you must have A/C).I have limited space so: The view! Bring your binoculars. The house is spacious, comfortable, clean and private. The beds comfortable. The queen bedroom is small. The kitchen was well stocked. There is a large ice chest, beach towels, 4 beach chairs and a yoga mat in the house. The owner was responsive. We had a few minor issues and he had a local handy-man and housekeeper that helped us. Ron said that he was “new to renting”, so he didn’t yet have a “manual” for his house. The closest grocery store is 25 minutes north. The closest take-out was the Papa’aloa country store but their hours are limited. There is a mini mart gas station and train museum one block away.We had to take our garbage to transfer stations. We did not find this to be a hassle. The cons: Despite it being listed as having Air conditioning, we say that it did not have viable air conditioning. In order to use it, we would have had to leave the screen door open, and there are many small bugs and geckos. Bugs and lizards manage to get in even with the screens in place, but this is common in Hawaii. Also the long distance from beaches, groceries and take-out. I highly recommend this house! I would rent it again.
