About this property
Maine Frame: Cozy Retreat in the Freeport Woods
- Framed by nature. Designed for the way life should be -
Welcome to The Maine Frame! Perfect for small families or couples, our signature A-Frame cabin features a modern gas burning fireplace, soaring ceilings, huge windows, stylish interiors, and all the comforts of home.
7 minute drive to Freeport
A guest favorite with consistent five-star reviews and top-tier rankings on other platforms. We’re excited to now welcome VRBO travelers too!
THE SPACE:
This cozy 1,100 square foot space was completed in the summer of 2024 and comfortably accommodates up to four guests in two bedrooms (a cozy Queen bedroom downstairs with a tv and a spacious King bedroom in the loft) plus one shared bathroom. To reach the loft, you’ll need to climb a narrow spiral metal staircase. This room boasts the best lighting and is one of my favorite spots to relax.
Please note that due to the open floor plan, the upstairs loft is not separated from the downstairs space.
The bathroom is located downstairs and features a river rock tiled shower floor with a built-in bench seat.
During your stay, you can enjoy the warmth and ambiance of our modern gas-burning fireplace. To control the fireplace, simply set the timer on the wall, which limits the run time to 60 minutes per full turn. As a friendly reminder, please never leave the fireplace unattended while you’re away from the property.
To enhance your stay, we recommend reading our welcome book. It’s filled with our favorite recommendations for local activities, dining spots, and detailed information about the property. Brochures are also available for additional “to-do” suggestions in the area.
The Maine Frame is conveniently located within easy reach of several locations:
7-minute drive to Freeport
13-minute drive to Brunswick
25-minute drive to Portland
GUEST ACCESS:
The Maine Frame and its surrounding property are fully accessible to guests, except for the basement.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
• Please note that the entire property is surrounded by small and medium-sized wood chips.
• There is a gravel walkway leading to the front door.
• The path to the fire pit is a steep, short hill down (approximately 50 feet).
• 2 indoor fire extinguishers can be found under the sink. 1 exterior fire extinguisher is hung on a beam under the deck.
• If you booked your stay during the winter months, please note that we have provided a shovel and container of ice melt under the deck to the left of the first set of stairs. An ice scraper is conveniently located inside the front door for your use. Our snow removal team will clear the driveway during your stay, depending on the snowfall.
•Guests must climb stairs. There are 4 porch steps to enter The Maine Frame. Guests must climb up a narrow metal staircase to access loft.
•Light road noise can be heard when outside.
•The L.L. Bean flagship store is currently undergoing a transformative $50 million renovation. Dubbed the "Freeport Experience", the remodel is aimed to create a more immersive shopping environment for Freeport visitors. While scheduled for completion fall of 2026, L.L. Bean is OPEN. A notable addition is "Camp L.L. Bean", a 28,000 sqft climate-controlled tent serving as a temporary retail space for all apparel and outerwear. The Home Store, Hunting & Fishing, Bike, Boat & Ski stores remain open and fully operational during renovations.
ADDITIONAL RULES:
For the courtesy of our Freeport neighbors, please turn off exterior soffit lights before bed.
Trash is collected every Wednesday through a private company. Guests will have no contact with the collection team but must allow them on the property. All trash must be placed in the provided white kitchen bags before being put in the outdoor bin. Loose trash or other bags will not be collected, and any fines issued by the company will be charged to the guest.
Power outages and internet outages can occur in Maine specifically during late fall, throughout winter and early spring due to variable weather. If an outage occurs during your stay, your hosts will be in immediate contact and will provide any updates from our local power and internet company. Refunds can be requested per day in the event power does not return by 5pm.
Please maintain this place as if it were your own house. Before departing, we kindly ask that all used sheets and quilts are stripped from the bed, used towels are collected and please start a load of laundry if you have time.
The following are not allowed:
• Disruptive or open-invite gatherings and events
• Excessive noise
• Many unregistered guests
• Vandalism
• No pets inside or outside the Maine Frame ($250 additional pet cleaning fee will be applied)
• DO NOT smoke inside or on deck. This covers using tobacco, marijuana, e-cigarettes, and other substances. Smoking is ONLY permitted at the firepit area. Fees will apply if evidence of smoking is found in smoke free areas.
EXTERIOR SECURITY CAMERA PRESENT:
A motion sensor Ring Flood Lightcam is mounted to the exterior front of the Maine Frame that monitors the driveway and will also provide light at night.
Please respect the home and our neighbors to ensure a peaceful and enjoyable stay for everyone!

About the host
Hosted by Sarah Mendes

Hi I’m Sarah the owner and host of The Maine Frame!
I live here in Maine with my family and absolutely love the mix of cozy woods, coastal charm, and small-town magic. When I’m not chasing around my toddler or working on creative projects, I’m usually dreaming up ways to make The Maine Frame feel extra special for guests. Hosting has become a meaningful way for me to share a little slice of what I love with others—quiet mornings, starry nights, and a place that just feels good to be in.
