About this property
Water House at Scotland Beach; 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath, Oceanfront
The Water House at Scotland Beach is a 4-bed, 3.5-bath vacation home in Scotland, Maryland. Nestled on 2 private acres and surrounded by water on three sides, it offers a serene escape for design lovers. Just an hour and forty-five minutes from DC, it’s very close yet extremely peaceful, private, and secluded. Enjoy crabbing, birdwatching, kayaking, swimming, and ultimate relaxation by the shore. This idyllic bayside retreat is perfect for gathering with loved ones, having fun, and recharging.
The space
There are four bedrooms upstairs, one with a queen bed, two with full sized beds, and one with a twin sized bed and a trundle underneath. On the first floor, there is a twin sized day bed, two large 3 cushion couches, and one two cushion sofa.
There are 3 bathrooms upstairs and a half bath on the first floor.
We have a boat shed full of fun things to use while you are here. Two kayaks, outdoor games (bocce, badminton, croquet, etc), two hammocks by the water, and several fishing poles you are welcome to use. We also have a few crab pots you can bait and throw in the water. We can typically get a few crabs a day so if you leave them in throughout the day, you can pull out enough for a small dinner :) Alternatively, there's a crab shop just down the street where you can purchase as many as you like and they'll steam and season them on site for you!
The yard is almost two acres, so there are plenty of spaces for a game of football or lounging or doing yoga by the water.
We live directly on Tanner's Creek, which is right off the open ocean (Chesapeake Bay). You can kayak from the house to the ocean in about ten minutes. The swimming is much better in the open ocean, as there is quite a lot of greenery below the surface in Tanner's Creek where the house sits. There are also stingrays here and sometimes jellyfish, so we prefer to play in Tanner's Creek on kayaks and fish / lounge, and then do our fun swimming and beaching nearby at Point Lookout State Park (about a mile away, 1 minute drive by car) or kayak out to the beach from the house. There are several beaches at Point Lookout State Park, including a dog beach (which we love) and a beach for humans only. We find the dog beach is actually the better beach, so prefer to hang out there regardless :) We will provide a pass for you to get into Point Lookout State Park, which is typically $5 to enter. It's a great area and space, full of history, and you'll love this part of Maryland as much as we do :)
We have a chest full of indoor games (Jenga, several puzzles, Connect4, UNO, Monopoly, chess, Scrabble, Mahjong, Animal Spirit Cards, Skip Bo, and decks of cards), as well as some children's books and toys.
We also have a bassinet, full changing table setup, plenty of children's books and toys, a humidifier, a night light, and a baby / kid's room with blackout shades. We have a new baby ourselves and have made sure anything any everything you may need is stocked (bumbo, pack and play, toys, books, etc etc).
In terms of supplies, we stock shampoo, conditioner, body wash, sheets and towels, beach towels, towels in the garage to dry off the pups who hop in the water, toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, sponges, laundry detergent, an espresso maker (Breville), a drip coffee maker, a toaster, an electric kettle, and all the dishes you'll need while here (cups of all shapes and sizes, serving dishes, utensils, etc). If you need anything particular you don't see listed, feel free to reach out to ask!
Also, check us out at @waterhousescotlandbeach - we've also been listed on AirBN for a year and are just checking out VRBO so feel free to check out extensive reviews on that site!
