Fabulous 3 Bedroom House. Peaceful, Relaxing Sunnywood Retreat in Chincoteague.

If rest and relaxation is what you need then Sunnywood Retreat is the place for you! This is a beautiful impeccably maintained house away from the noise and crowds in one of the best neighborhoods on the island but centrally located. When you first arrive you'll notice the stars above and just the sounds of the owls at night. There never was a more peaceful place to get a good nights sleep. This is a neighborhood of old where you don't worry about if your car is locked at night. Of course better safe than sorry. When it comes time for fun everything is a short walk or bike ride away. Beaches, Fishing, Crabbing, Tennis, Main Street Shops, Restaurants, Eco Tours or take in a movie at the historic Island Theater. Something for everyone.

This is a beautiful 3 bedroom home on an acre of property so there is plenty of room to enjoy all the amenities of Sunnywood Retreat. This is a family home we rented to special friends over the years and all enjoyed it immensely. Most booked it year after year. 2025 will be our first year renting on Vrbo and we hope you'll enjoy it too.

The space
The main bedroom has a comfortable queen sized bed with private bath and stall shower. Bedroom 2 has an new queen bed. Bedroom 3 has 1 twin sized bed and one set of bunk beds.
The Family/TV room has plenty of room to stretch out and relax with a good movie on the 54 inch TV. The large screen porch is an excellent place to see the local deer pass through the yard during breakfast or have dinner in the cool evenings. The formal dinning room has seating for 8. If you have musical skills take a turn at the baby grand piano. There is also a TV in the living room above the gas fireplace.

On the large deck is a Private Outdoor Shower, Gas Fire Pit, Patio Furniture w/ Umbrella and Barbecue.

There are several bicycles including one Tandem, Beach Cruisers and Mountain Bike for use while you're on the island. There is also a child's bike cart and Kayak. Please bring your own safety gear. Nothing is out of reach by bike.

In the bike shed you will also find Bocce, Badminton, Crochet, Corn Hole, Horse Shoes, Hammock, 4 Beach Chairs, Crab Net and Crab Trap.

There is a fire pit that you will need to supply your own wood for and follow local fire limitations.

The local park is a short walk or bike ride down the block. While there enjoy the recently renovated Tennis and Basketball courts, Playground, Fishing Pier, Boat Launch or watch the famous Pony Swim. You will love the views of the lighthouse from the fishing pier especially in the evening.

Lovely Home in Quiet Neighborhood

This home is spacious with kitchen and multiple dining areas, large living spaces, and comfortable bedrooms. It is well stocked. It’s convenient to everything on Chincoteague Island. We’d definitely come back!

It was me and my spouse and another couple that stayed here. Overall the house was very nice and clean. We spent most of our down time at the house on the screened in back porch which was large and had plenty of furniture. The outdoor shower was great, Grill worked perfect. Checking in and out was seamless. The beds were comfortable. The online description was wrong for one of the queen beds. It was in fact a full size instead of a queen. I notified Dave and he immediately apologized and offered us a later check out time and a discounted price for an extra night stay. I feel that bed size descriptions are very important and therefore the 4 star rating instead of 5. Not that the kitchen was bad, but Dave also informed us that there are a ton of kitchen upgrades to be done for next season. I saw the new cabinets in the garage.

Excellent! Great house, quiet neighborhood, close to the park

This house is nicer than the pictures! Mom really liked the hardware floors and the quality furniture; Dad enjoyed the den with comfy seating and the large hi-def TV. Both enjoyed the screened back porch, where we could easily hear the various birds and could tell where the wind was by which chimes we could hear. The bedrooms were comfortable and nice, and the master bedroom was also spacious and attractive, We chose not to spend time cooking but we noticed that there was plenty of kitchenware, all in good condition, and currently the kitchen includes an air fryer and a coffee grinder. We appreciated that there were yard games and fire pits, but in the evening we are basically bookworms too comfy to go outside. We use Veterans Park for kayaking and some fishing so it was nice to be able to just walk there. Nice to have both an outdoor shower and a garden hose. On our arrival (to the house), everything was clean and fresh, nice after our drive. Owner responded quickly to a question I had beforehand, and we had no issues on startup or during the week. I got the feeling that the owner definitely wants you to have a good time!We hope to return to town someday and would definitely want to stay here again!

Why they chose this property

My parents retired on the island in 2000 and chose this house for many reasons but mostly for the property size and the house.

What makes this property unique

Chincoteague is a small island and Sunnywood is unique because of its large properties. It is a very quiet friendly neighborhood but centrally located so you can get to anything with a short walk or bike ride. We love the quiet in the evenings.
