Had a relaxing weekend getaway and enjoyed a very nice stay at the cottage retreat. We did a little shore fishing on the river and a brat and hotdog cook out at the park.

This cozy and very clean cabin was perfect for our 4 night stay! Quick and friendly communication with Tom and Carolyn. We had plenty of hot water and fresh linens throughout. The kitchen was thoughtfully stocked with some everyday seasonings and plenty of dishes and such. There is easy access to the Mississippi River, with the boat launch in the campground. Everyone around is very friendly and we enjoyed daily strolls around the grounds. We were there for Memorial Day weekend, so there was lots of activity. Live music and a Block Party on Sunday evening! Highly recommend!

About the host

Hosted by Carolyn Doering

Host profile image
Hi, we’re Tom & Carolyn - just a couple who love spending time on the water and soaking up everything that makes Bagley and this area such a hidden gem. Our cottage sits on the backwaters of the Mississippi River, where the pace is slower, the sunsets are better, and life feels a little easier. With our three adult children out in the world, we now spend our time enjoying river life, boating, relaxing with friends & family and soaking in the natural beauty that surrounds us. Our dog Raina is always along for the ride and loves it here as much as we do.

We’ve created a quiet, comfortable space that’s perfect for adults looking to unwind, whether it’s sipping coffee on the porch, enjoying sunset cruises, or spending cozy evenings around the fire. We believe in thoughtful touches, local charm, and the kind of stay that leaves you refreshed and reconnected.

We look forward to hosting you and sharing this special part of the Mississippi River with you!

Why they chose this property

Our family has deep roots along this stretch of the Mississippi River, and it's a place we've loved for generations. We've always enjoyed spending time on the water, and as our family has grown, buying this cabin in 2024 was the perfect way to create more space for everyone to gather. It's become a place where we can slow down, enjoy the river, and make memories together. We hope you'll enjoy the area as much as we do, whether you're boating, fishing, exploring the backwaters, or simply relaxing and taking in the peaceful surroundings.

What makes this property unique

As one of the original cabins in the area known as River of Lakes Resort, this cottage has a special character and history you won't find in other rentals. It backs up to a large stretch of public land, giving you added privacy, peaceful views, and plenty of space to explore. While it retains its vintage charm, the cabin has been thoughtfully updated and includes the comforts you need for a relaxing stay. It's the perfect place to slow down, enjoy nature, and experience the laid-back pace of river life.
