great little place but right on the street and when loud cars, trucks ,motorcycles come by you wake up. the street light is right there too so the room is very light. i like dark when i sleep. the floor was a little creaky but ok. would probably stay there again but with ear plugs and eye cover
Loading and unloading is a little inconvenient since there is no onsite parking and you have to lug everything up quite a few stairs. It was a great location and really nice because our group had all the rooms on the floor.
Cute apartment! Loved the old building with the new decor. Kitchen was great to have, although utensils on the counter were dusty and the top of fridge. Plants were nice to see. Just to let other renters know there are 32 steps to the second floor. A little hard when you have to park across the street behind the Courthouse with all your things. Town was great! Very walkable as it only has one traffic light in the town. We were there mon-wed. A lot of places are closed on Monday and Tuesday. We did enjoy are two nights there passing through to Gatlinburg and Asheville for Vacation.
Very attractive locale and would return. Favorable impression of the building was undermined by two problems. First, the entrance door was broken - this had happened before, neighbors told us, given prevailing winds- and, without guidance on nighttime access, we were left to improvise a solution with masking tape to avoid being locked out over the coldest night of 2025. Also, a member of the party in a neighboring room lacked heat in its living room/kitchen area. Rather than resolve this problem themselves, they had us fix it - retrieve the missing remote from the cabinet top where maintenance placed it (requiring us to reposition and climb up on the breakfast table) and, when the unit still failed to respond, to locate and throw the breaker switch in order to restore heat. They didn’t seem to want to physically come out and address these problems, and we were left with the impression that we were interrupting building management’s own New Year’s Eve plans.
Great space and plenty of space: spacious living/dining area with kitchen (I can't remember if it had a stove because we didn't use it). Spacious bedroom, Spacious bathroom. Everything worked, everything was clean. The building feels very safe. The entrance to the building is more or less across the street from the general store where the bluegrass music is played. There are at least five restaurants within easy walking distance, and a bookstore. Parking is about a block away. The Saturday farmers' market takes place behind the building. It's a fantastic location for exploring the small town of Floyd and for shopping, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is only minutes away by car. Within about 20 minutes you can get to two wineries. We will return to Floyd anyway, but we're more likely to return sooner and more often because the units in this building make the stay there so easy and attractive.
