I have to say, this has been one of the best VRBO experiences we have had for a variety of reasons. The first is the host, Holly. Not only was she instantly available via text and answered our questions quickly, she provided me with a complete list of "things to do" on Maui (I concur with her recommendations to use Trilogy for a snorkeling excursion to Molokini, visit food trucks by Times, walk to Bad Ass coffee, and trip to Surfing Goat Farm). She was very sweet and thorough and took time to connect with us and make us feel welcome. There was also a tin of Honolulu Cookie Company treats to welcome us!
The condo was as advertised and looked exactly as we expected ... well, actually, better than advertised! The condo itself is older and a little worse for wear, but the unit is beautifully decorated with high quality, gorgeous furniture and linens. There were nice TV's in the living room and bedroom and a surround sound system that I couldn't ever figure out. Both bedrooms and living room had separate A/C units - and here is where my only complaint lies. The A/C unit in the bedrooms were VERY loud, being the stand-alone ones. There is no central A/C here, which isn't a problem, except when trying to sleep at night. Unfortunately, the master bedroom does not have any windows that open (so weird!) so you cannot take advantage of the trade winds that keep things naturally cool. You HAVE to turn on the A/C to cool the bedroom enough to sleep because it faces west and gets full treatment of the afternoon sun, bringing the temperature up to uncomfortable levels. The bedroom does cool down fairly quickly once you turn on the A/C and ceiling fan. We finally figured out a system on our last two nights - turn the A/C on in the evening before bedtime and then turn it off and use the ceiling fan while sleeping. Otherwise, the A/C unit is dreadfully loud (although my husband wasn't bothered by it) and makes it difficult to sleep.
The unit had EVERY single thing we needed for the beach, and plenty of it. Beach chairs (8), umbrellas (3), boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, sunscreen, coolers, beach towels and more! You can literally show up at the unit and go straight to the beach.
The only things we had to buy were paper towels and food. Everything else we needed was in the unit. This place quickly became a lovely home-away-from-home for us. It was clean, beautiful, comfortable and well-appointed. I recommend this rental and would book it again!
