You will find no shortage of comfort and high quality at this vacation home. In this space, you will also enjoy the large dining room table which seats 12 with an expansive view of the ocean. Off of the living room, you enter a large contemporary kitchen with new major appliances, ample counter space, an island workspace for creating culinary delights, and bar seating for five at the attached mahogany counter. The kitchen has a standard drip coffee maker, a Keurig, and an espresso machine. Directly off the kitchen is an informal breakfast area, with a cozy wood stove for four.

Off of the kitchen is a bedroom with a queen-size bed and an adjoining full bathroom. Rounding off the tour of the first floor is an oversized mudroom with ample space to store your active gear (skis, rackets, water sports, etc.) and a treadmill.
A cozy screened-in porch for rainy-day conversation sits adjacent to the deck, and for family fun, is a good assortment of inside and outside games. Moving off the deck is a large hot tub to relax in after a long day of vacation fun. The private beach shore has many flat ledge areas for sunbathing, picnicking, and viewing the working lobster boats coming in from haul, sailboats, and pleasure yachts blending in the harbor. You may kayak to the nearby islands for exploration and enjoyment with the two kayaks provided.

Returning inside, you take the stairs to the second floor, immediately noticing the Baldwin Grand concert piano that looks to the sea and may be played to entertain guests below in the architecturally soaring living room. This suite has a king-size bed, stunning panoramic views of the outer islands, a full bath featuring a comfy tub for relaxing at the end of the day, and a large shower. Area Amenities:
The Tenants Harbor General Store, is open daily, specializing in morning coffee and pastries, corn, blueberries, native lobsters, fresh-cut meats, and all grocery supplies. It is only a 10-minute walk, or bring your bike for riding the winding roads and scenic ocean and island views. This is a pleasantly old and proud Maine community with its own library, school, and fire/rescue department. Knox County Sheriff's Office provides policing services. One-third of all Maine lobsters come from this county, named for General Henry Knox, George Washington's chief artillery officer in the Revolutionary War of 1776. You can learn about him on the peninsula, as well as enjoy programs offered all seasons at Montpelier, the Knox Mansion Museum, located just another few minutes in the nearby coastal town of Thomaston.

Heading another 10 minutes down the St. George peninsula is Port Clyde, another fishing village. You will enjoy beautiful ocean views while enjoying an incredible meal on the wharf and delicious ice cream for dessert from the local ice cream shop. In the heart of Port Clyde, you will find adventure waiting for you. Whether it's visiting a local art gallery, enjoying a day on the ocean with the Wyeth by Water Lobster Boat tours, or the Monhegan Island ferry adventures to see Maine seabirds, including puffins and American bald eagles, spending the day at the local Drift-Inn beach or a picnic at Marshall Point Lighthouse; St. George has something for everyone.

Here are some things you should know about visiting Maine:

Cell phones: Although coverage is getting better, there are some places where cell phones don't have good reception. Chances are you will have service, but just in case, make sure you leave the number of the house you are renting with those who may need to get in touch with you. Coverage with AT&T can be spotty in many areas of Maine.

Weather: If you have heard it once, you've heard it a hundred times: if you don't like the weather in New England, wait a minute. It can be hot in Rockland and cool in Port Clyde so make sure to pack a variety of clothes — from a bathing suit for hot days to a sweater for cool evenings. Check out the current local weather at www.weather.com.

Bugs: A lot of people ask us if we have mosquitoes...we sure do. But they aren't huge and they don't ruin a vacation. Bring some repellent, or pick some up at the local general stores and you will be fine; usually, you won't even notice them.

Dogs: We love dogs around here, but each town has its own rules about pets. Make sure to look for signs stating if dogs are allowed and always have them on a leash. If they leave behind anything, please pick it up, it's not a fun surprise when you are exploring the beautiful shoreline. You can also be fined for not picking up after your four-legged friend.

Unwanted animals: You probably have them too, but raccoons and skunks can make you regret last night's lobster dinner. No one wants to pick up old, smelly shells that have been cast out onto the lawn by these cute, but curious and disastrously messy, little guys. So please don't put off placing the trash in the secure trashcans provided.

Water: Sailor’s Valentine Beach House is not on public water supply. It has a well, with a water filtration system, and is tested regularly once a year. Particulates, discoloration, and iron taste are not uncommon.

Sailor's Valentine Beach House is a Saturday to Saturday rental year-round! This home comfortably sleeps 6 people. The dock was damaged in a major ocean storm and has been deemed unsafe by the engineering team currently working on the design for a new wharf. While parts of it may still be visible and appear intact, it isn’t safe to use and is officially closed off. The current listing does not include the dock as an amenity. While a few of the photos do show it in the background, that wasn’t intended to suggest it’s accessible. The current pricing also reflects the dock being out of service

Great place to stay with comfortable amenities. Conveniently located to Rockland yet far enough away to avoid the busyness of town. Planning on a 2017 return

Amazing home and great location

Sailor’s valentine was such an amazing home in a beautiful location. Loved waking up to a glorious sunrise over the ocean. After full days of hiking and exploring nearby lighthouses, settling into the hottub under the night sky was perfect. Veronika was so helpful and responsive. 10/10

Nice home in excellent location with great views and deep water dock

1-week family vacation with three kids. The house is nice. Well equipped w/ large TV, jacuzzi, deck, and a deep water dock. The location is serene, and the views across Tenant's Harbor and the water are spectacular. We brought a boat and had easy access to the towns along Penobscot Bay, the islands, and other adventures. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful setting

The property is magnificent. Quiet, gorgeous and very private. We brought our corgi and she had a little lawn in back to hang out on. Two minor notes to owner: we had to change the batteries in the tv remote in the LR and the right sink in the Master Bath was clogged when we arrived. If there had been Draino in the house I would have used it.

A great week

Two couples had a terrific time at this outstanding property with an outstanding view. We were comfortable with all amenities and enjoyed watching the full moon rise from the end of the private dock. The house and the amenities were better than advertised and we enjoyed the interesting antiques that were part of the furnishings. Thanks for sharing the property with us.

Perfection on the Mid Coast

Our family fell in love with this property. We appreciated how well appointed the home was including the comfortable beds and linens, beautiful towels, gourmet kitchen tools and appliances, beach accessories ( towels. chair and cooler) and kayaks. The space was so open and airy with gorgeous views. Veronika was extremely easy to communicate with and was helpful in accommodating us at the last minute. Our family would not hesitate to book this property again!

Another Great Week!

Our family just had another lovely stay at Sailor’s Valentine. As always, everything was perfect - it was clean and beautiful and completely ready for us. We range in age from 72 years to five months, and everyone was so happy to be back for our fourth visit. This home is excellent from top to bottom, but our favorite feature continues to be the large, well equipped gourmet kitchen. The location is convenient to a lot of interesting things: Marshall Point Lighthouse, Monhegan Boat Line (puffin cruise), Drift Inn Beach, Owls Head Transportation Museum, and all the fun to be had in and around Thomaston, Rockland, and Camden. We had no issues at all with the property, but even when I asked a simple question, Veronika got back to me immediately. Can’t wait until next time!

Lobsters and Leisure

Two senior couples looking for a beautiful, peaceful retreat found it in Sailor’s Valentine. The house was immaculate and furnished with comfortable furniture and some very interesting antiques. We cooked in the unbelievably outfitted kitchen, sat in the hot tub and around the fire pit, played oldie goldies on the Baldwin grand and marveled at the gorgeous yard . And then there was the view! We rented in the middle of high season and payed top price for the week, but the experience was priceless. We’d love to come back again and stay for two weeks but may look for a less pricey property. Hard to come down from the top of the line, however!

A perfect getaway!

We enjoyed every moment of our stay at Sailor's Valentine. The house is beautiful and it was spotlessly clean upon our arrival. We had a few questions for Veronika and she was very helpful and responded quickly to our inquiries. The neighborhood is quiet and there is very little traffic which makes for a pleasant walk to the general store. There were bright mornings watching the sun sparkle off the water while we ate breakfast, and there were foggy mornings which were equally enjoyable. The location is perfect for exploring the mid-coast area. We cooked almost all of our meals at the house (the kitchen has everything you could possibly need) but we highly recommend nearby Ancho Honey for sandwiches and Laurel's Dolce Vita in Thomaston for bakery treats! We very much hope to return to this special place.

Beautiful property with a well equipped kitchen!

The views from the house were amazing all week witnessing beautiful sunrises and watching the harbor through a December storm. We quickly learned the names of all the islands visible from the house. The binoculars in the living room were a nice addition. I had high expectations before arriving at the property and all were met. Veronika was quick to respond to our questions even early on a Sunday morning. The house itself was immaculate. The only thing I noticed were some of the utensils had not been well cleaned before being put away in the drawer. It wasn’t a major issue, we just made sure to clean them before using them for the first time during the week. Additionally, we loved the hot tub, grilling out, the outdoor fire pit, indoor fireplace, puzzles, private dock, beach, birds, ducks, quiet neighborhood, and quaint general store. I would be excited to return for another week some time. I highly recommend this house.

Waterfront serenity

The house is beautiful and clean. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware and bakeware. The kayaks are excellent, as is the hot tub, and it's a terrific place to bike (though no bikes included). Most of all, the view is spectacular in sun or fog. The property is a serene and private getaway, and it was exactly what we were looking for. Additional pluses: There's a manual ice cream maker and a waffle maker. There are life vests and water shoes for kayaking. The property is very close to Port Clyde (easy biking distance) with boat to Monhegan Island and excellent pies and ice cream at Port Clyde Bakery. Also very close to Rockland (and McLoon's Lobster Shack in Spruce Head, which I highly recommend). Small minuses: The master bedroom is huge and luxurious with a fantastic view, but the two other bedrooms are a little on the small side. And as many guests have noted, the checkout procedure of vacuuming and washing linens is a bit laborious for the price point. It wasn't a surprise, so it wasn't a problem. But it also wasn't welcome. One very minor last note, there's no nonstick skillet (thought there is nonstick bakeware), which would be useful for making eggs, etc. But that could easily be fixed (hint, hint). Otherwise, a truly delightful place to stay on the coast of Maine.

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay im this tastefully furnished and very comfortable home ! This was our second stay in this beautiful house and most likely not our last . The view is incredible - looking out on the water and islands is like therapy. We were also in awe of the night sky full of stars ! We love the location also because of the excellent restaurants and bakeries close by ! I do need to mention the amazing and very well equipped kitchen ! Also having kayaks and beach chairs makes the stay so fun and easy ! I would recommend this home to all my friends ! Thank you

A charming location with a fantastic view of the rising sun. We swam off the property (which was super rocky) and then made use of the hot tub to warm up. The kitchen is equipped with all imaginable high-quality ware, making it a pleasure to cook on the Viking range. Cocktails on the deck are memorable as the view is so lovely. Linens and such were fine. Communication with our host was friendly, fast, and smooth. My only disappointment is that the dock cannot be used, which was something I was looking forward to. Most importantly, we had a wonderful family week of connection at a finely tuned property in a special spot.

Everybody Loves Sailors Valentine!

We had a 16-month-old and his 73-year-old grandfather and everyone in between, and they all love this wonderful property. It’s as beautiful as the listing describes and it’s so well equipped and comfortable, it’s the perfect home base for exploring Maine. We love the chef’s kitchen. The principal suite has windows all around to frame the magnificent views of the water. Each bedroom has closet and dresser space, and its own bathroom. I could go on, but suffice it to say it was at least our fourth (or fifth) stay. Alas, we’re outgrowing it, but Veronika has another fantastic home for us to try next year. Thanks for everything, Ms. Bean, Veronika, and crew!
A cool Maine evening is best enjoyed near a fire pit.
He really enjoyed the kitchen!
