The Loon Hollow is more than a lake house — it’s a private waterfront retreat on beautiful Monocle Lake. Set on approximately one acre with more than 100 feet of lake frontage and a private dock, it offers families and groups space to relax, reconnect, and enjoy true Upper Peninsula lake life.

The main house features 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen, comfortable gathering spaces, and warm modern-rustic character. Fall is an incredible time to visit. The forests surrounding Monocle Lake come alive with brilliant reds, oranges, and golds, creating a beautiful setting for crisp mornings by the water, scenic drives, hiking, exploring nearby waterfalls and beaches, and cozy evenings around the fire.

During your stay, enjoy swimming, fishing, paddling, relaxing on the dock, or simply taking in the peaceful lake views. Bring your boat or watercraft and make Monocle Lake part of your getaway.

Host profile image

I love everything the Eastern Upper Peninsula has to offer — the lakes, trails, wildlife, fishing, beaches, and the slower pace of life that makes this area so special. Monocle Lake has always felt like one of the U.P.’s hidden gems, and I enjoy sharing that experience with guests.

As a host, my goal is to make The Loon Hollow more than simply a place to stay. I want guests to have a true lakefront getaway where they can relax by the water, explore the U.P., spend time with family and friends, and leave with great memories. I’m always happy to share local recommendations for beaches, trails, restaurants, fishing, golf, and day trips.

Why they chose this property

Monocle Lake is one of the Eastern U.P.’s hidden gems — a peaceful inland lake surrounded by forest, trails, wildlife, and incredible Upper Peninsula scenery. From The Loon Hollow, guests can fish, paddle, swim, hike, bike, or simply relax along the waterfront.

Lake Superior is only about a half mile away, making it easy to spend the day at the beach, take a quick swim, walk the shoreline, or catch an unforgettable sunset.

The Loon Hollow is also well positioned for exploring some of the Upper Peninsula’s most popular destinations, including Tahquamenon Falls, Whitefish Point, Sault Ste. Marie, Bay Mills Resort & Casino, and Wild Bluff Golf Course. Guests can enjoy scenic drives, beaches, waterfalls, hiking trails, golf, dining, and day trips throughout the Eastern U.P.

It gives you the privacy and peaceful setting of a true lakefront retreat while still being close enough to experience many of the region’s best attractions.

I think this version is stronger than the original because it sells both sides of the property: the private Monocle Lake experience and the fact that The Loon Hollow makes a very good home base for exploring the Eastern U.P.

What makes this property unique

The Loon Hollow is more than a lake house — it’s your own private waterfront retreat on beautiful Monocle Lake. Set on approximately one acre with more than 100 feet of lake frontage and a private dock, the property gives families and groups plenty of room to spread out, reconnect, and experience true Upper Peninsula lake life.

The main house features 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen, comfortable gathering spaces, and warm modern-rustic character. During the warmer season, the separate bunkhouse adds six additional beds, its own full bathroom, and a living area — giving larger families and groups extra space and privacy that’s rarely found in a traditional vacation rental.

Spend your days swimming, fishing, paddling, relaxing on the dock, gathering around the fire, or simply taking in the peaceful lake views. Bring your boat or watercraft and make Monocle Lake part of your vacation.

What truly sets The Loon Hollow apart is the combination of privacy, waterfront, space, and location. You can enjoy the quiet of your own lakefront retreat while staying close to Lake Superior and many of the Eastern U.P.’s most memorable destinations, including Tahquamenon Falls, Whitefish Point, Sault Ste. Marie, Bay Mills Resort & Casino, Wild Bluff Golf Course, beaches, trails, and scenic drives.

Whether you’re planning a family lake vacation, a group getaway, a fall color trip, or an outdoor adventure in the U.P., The Loon Hollow gives you a peaceful home base with the lake right outside your door.
