Very unique, spacious property with a gorgeous view from the back deck. Check in and out were smooth and the host was very responsive. Family (including 3 year old) had a great time.

This is a quiet retreat. Well outside of town. The views are beautiful and many deer visit in the mornings. The home was simple and comfortable. If you are a music fan, I recommend this home. It has a working turntable, cassette player and CD player. And if you are a regular exerciser, it has a nice workout room in the basement. I personally brought some workout DVDs and was able to work out each day. It was an enjoyable stay.

Over the past decade, vacation rentals have become underwhelming and spartan. Safe investments for landowners who have no personal connection to the space rented. This home bucks the trend. From the moment you walk in, the home is oozing with warmth and personality. It is cozy with shelves full of tasteful media. It’s clear that the owner uses this as a vacation home and has put a lot of love into designing a space that is hospitable for actual living.Photos don’t do the views justice - especially as seen from the kitchen or the master bedroom. The kitchen itself is well-equipped, beds are comfortable and plentiful. Sound systems stellar. Some confusion arose for us over access to the nearby lake and to the pool. Apparently these are country club amenities and it seemed like we couldn’t access them as guests in the community.Otherwise a great, well-located, stay that feels remote but is close to Harper’s Ferry and other lovely towns. We really enjoyed our time here and hope to come back someday.

Michelle was a wonderful guest at Riverdale and, as her thoughtful review confirms, exactly the type of guest that we love to host at Riverdale. Unfortunately, the locks for the gate to the river recreation area had been changed since I got my key, so we will do better next time. Michelle and her friends and family are welcome back anytime:)

Great location to go kayaking, rafting or tubing. Very convenient to Harper's Ferry Historical Park. Quiet neighborhood with plenty of friendly deer. Beautiful view from the back deck and the perfect place for our 2 dogs.John was very accommodating and responsive. Beds were comfortable and the young adults enjoyed their space in the basement to hang out, watch TV, play video games or exercise.Would stay again.

Disclaimer: not a guest that likes to reach out to the host during a stay. I do message ahead to confirm things.TL;DR: place overall neat, host nice, likely more ideal if just humans. Great view off the deck. Multiple TVs. A French press & water kettle available if you bring coffee & tea. Water cooler worked well. Not as secluded* as exterior pictures indicate. Pets restricted to main living room and kitchen area. —-Place was clean. Been curious about art frame TVs, neat to see them in action. Loved the view. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms were clean, towels fluffy. Trip’s goal getaway for my dog and friend. Wanted a secluded spot allowing a dog over 50lbs. Plus with the pictures of this listing - booked this non-refundable last minute. After booking, learned pets restricted to main living room and kitchen area. Spacious enough so it worked out, not sure I’d pick if I had known. Did not spend any time in the lower level; if it was a different kind of trip, would have. Front door has a large window; not a lot of activity but fyi if your dog takes being a watchdog seriously.A cool music set up but didn’t utilize. A welcome binder/paper with instructions for things like that would be nice.Checkout easiest. Load dishwasher, take personal items, lock doors. Took out trash out of habit but it wasn’t a thing we had to do. *Secluded in comparison to housing communities sure. Aerial shot kind of looks like flat backyard, not accurate.

There were a lot of features about this property that we liked. It was very spacious and we were happy to be able to bring our doggie with us! Dogs are not allowed in the bedrooms or downstairs but it was pretty easy to manage because you could enclose your pet in allowable areas. The property was relatively clean but there was a lot of left behinds. Stuff in fridge and cupboards, in the bathroom drawers. Some spaces were locked up and inaccessible. This property says it is waterfront. You cannot see the river but you can hear it. Perhaps in the winter you could see it through the trees but don't expect to be sitting by the river around a campfire like some of the pictures show you. The host was very quick to reply to any questions we had.
