The kitchen is not well equipped for cooking. It lacks a large frying pan, a med size pot and decent cooking utensils. Needs new silverware and baking pans. Ants were around the kitchen sink.

The kitchen was stunningly well prepared for our use. The downstairs sleeping is an air mattress. It was very comfortable, but takes over the living room. The challenge was keeping the downstairs warm without the upstairs becoming a sauna. Walking distance to the Metro was easily done. We were very pleased with this Home away from home.

Great home for seeing the sights

Our family of 4 (which includes 2 teenage boys) had plenty of room in this well equipped home on Capitol Hill. The location was fantastic to go sightseeing and the house had everything we could want. Would highly recommend.

Great location- all needs covered!

My family- 5 adult children and myself stayed for 3 nights/4 days. This location was great! Close to restaurants, the metro and in a quiet neighborhood. We cooked a big breakfast in the morning then was gone all day into the evening. We were there over the start of Memorial Day weekend- so we were even able to enjoy the band concert at the Marine Commandants home around the corner from the front porch! Love the personal recommendations from owner Dia along with the personal notes!

GREAT location, responsive host

Stay at this property if you want an awesome location, a very responsive host, everything you need in the house, and a nice neighborhood. The house is one block over from a wide variety of restaurants (Barricks Row). We didn’t eat downtown one time. Just walked over one block and had everything we needed. The house has everything you could need. The only thing you need to be mindful of is all 3 bedrooms are on the 2nd floor, and due to the age of the house, the staircases are steep and narrow. The property manager was so responsive. We had 2 minor issues that were resolved in literally minutes. Super nice guy and his handyman was also super nice A little advice is to arrive as early to the check in time as possible as parking on the street can get tricky. We arrived right around 4 before everyone got home from work and got a spot no problem. My car stayed put for 5 days as we either used Uber or walked everywhere. We were only 2-3 miles from all the sights. This is a great place to stay.

It is a great home. It definitely is a historic home so there are some creaky floors but they are beautiful floors. The layout upstairs is kind of odd but I think that's what comes with row houses. Ample, spacious and updated bathrooms are available. Renovated kitchen with all the necessities. The middle bedroom with the pull out couch is kind of weird but very adjustable. The owners are very accommodating to your needs and will respond to your calls and texts. Plenty of towels, sheets, and blankets available. The house is very clean. Because of the location, you have to request a parking permit for your car. But the beauty of this parking permit is that you can park in any residential zone within D.C. This allows you to drive to the major sites and still find residential parking. But the highlight of this house is the location, location, and location. Perfect for walking to restaurants, flea market on the weekends, Eastern Market for meals or groceries and of course, capitol hill. The house is also very charming. The owners are kid friendly. Overall, we had a great trip and we will be back.

Charming updated historic home

This place oozes with character! So fun to get a taste of what a DC civil war era home is like. We enjoyed the updated amenities, well-appointed kitchen and comfortable living room, and also the sweet little enclosed garden and outdoor dining area behind the house. The location is perfect, an easy walk to the Metro, Eastern Market, and Trader Joe's. Marine Baracks just down the block add to the character and intrigue of the neighborhood. Be sure to check out Call Your Mother Bagels - great breakfast spot and great people watching. I highly recommend this home, unless you have mobility issues, in which case the steep historic staircases will be a problem.

Great for a Staycation with my family

I live in the DC area and was looking for a house within the District to stay with my family when they came to visit. This house couldn't have been more perfect. The house is beautiful and super kid friendly. The neighborhood is so cute and walking distance to plenty of bars and restaurants, and a longer walk or short drive to a ton of great sights for out of towners. I highly recommend this house and will probably try to stay there again!

April vacation family trip

The row house was a welcome respite from the hustle bustle of the National Mall and other areas swamped with tourists (like us) who spent their April vacation pounding pavement and soaking in as many sights/memorials/museums as possible. The house itself is charming! Love the mix of old and new. 6 of us stayed the week, and the 3 full baths was a MAJOR plus. The house has everything you could need. You really can pack light (so helpful to have a washer/dryer!) which cut down on stress. We had fun sampling the restaurants on Barracks Row and Eastern Market area. The $49 Ambar experience is not to be missed! Highlight of the trip!!! We also really enjoyed Matchbox for pizza, the Boxcar for ambiance and great pub fare, and Hank’s Oyster Bar for delicious raw bar and craft cocktails (can you tell we enjoy eating?). Dia left a fabulous binder on the coffee table with all the info you could need during your stay. Oh, forgot to mention, House is less than a 5 min walk to metro- from there you can be at the National Mall in about 4 stops. There is also a Trader Joe’s across the street from the metro. We never drove anywhere during our week in DC. Everything was just so accessible from the house. I would love to go back in the future, we just had the best time! Thank you, Dia!

Living my best life

The reviews of this house were spot on! My husband, who is a history buff, fell in love with the historic charm of this lovely homestead. The new renovations made the stay so classy & clean. My 4 kids loved having space & creeping down the back set of “secret stairs.” We weren’t home much but the convince of the house allowed us to walk into the city most days or jump on the metro. We would stop by Trader Joe’s on the way home and then cook dinner and settle in. We loved being able to eat most meals at home. This place is fabulous!!!!! It was everything we needed and more. We will be back!!!

Perfect for our stay

Everything was spotless, had everything for the kitchen and bathrooms, necessities . Everything was as promised. My mother ( 80 ) was able to manage the stairs which are the typical stairs in a row house but they have a handrail. Neighbors were friendly when we saw them on our way out one day. Bedrooms have comfy beds and there is an extra air mattress downstairs. Nice to have three full renovated bathrooms . ( two upstairs one down.) Easy booking and helpful info. We would definitely come again . :)

Lovely, comfortable, convenient and well prepared.

Two married couples spent 3 nights here, ate all breakfasts here, cooked a seafood dinner and enjoyed the space. Be aware the 3rd bathroom is not near the 3rd bedroom, which is no problem for families but could be awkward for 3 unrelated couples. Instructions for arrival, use of the home and departure were clear and easy to use. The home is full of character and perfectly up to date. Excellent wifi. Street noise minor. Well prepped kitchen with spice rack and dishes. One block from restaurants, shopping, circulator bus. The parking pass worked fine. Wish we had the weather for using the grill. I highly recommend Dia and her house.

Thanks for the lovely review! Perhaps we should clarify the bathrooms for future guests. The house has three full bathrooms, which have just been renovated. One bathroom is downstairs. One is upstairs, next to two of the bedrooms. The third is en suite with another bedroom.
