A little piece of heaven on the Big Island. Your own little oasis with a wonderful hostess! If you want to get away from the crowds and are prepared to drive at least 30-40mins to get anywhere this is the place. We would definitely stay again. Mahalo Linda and OB.
Amazingly charming atmosphere. Friendly, lovely, knowledgeable hosts: Linda & cats. The property full of colors, beautiful plants like an ultimate tranquility. The house had everything and more that we needed for our stay.We wish to stay longer there.
Our host, Linda, was amazing. Our stay was as fun as any place we have ever stayed. We enjoyed everything about the cottage. The view, the sounds, the tropical setting will be in our hearts for a long time to come. Please thank Linda, Peter and Pinky.
Linda is a very enthusiastic and welcoming host. She was at the main road waiting to greet us and show us around her lovely property. We enjoyed the sunsets, amazing stars, and the company of OB, the cast host.Kitchen was well equipped and even had coffee beans and pantry supplies for cooking and fresh fruit provided.Linda composts, recycles, and uses “clean” products in both kitchen and bath, which we appreciate. If you want to be away from the fray and decompress, this is your place. No businesses nearby, however Captain Cook is not too far. Great farmer’s market there on Sundays.
Host was very welcoming, made us fresh juices. Well stocked with amenities.Didn’t realize it was open air concept (no windows only screens) did not see this mentioned in any description of the site. We had both been sick and having the temperature 62 degrees some mornings with everything damp was not pleasurable. The grounds are gorgeous and fruit trees abundant.

They were both sick when they arrived, so didn't get sick here. It is only the kitchen area and meditation room in the main house that is screen, the rest has windows.

If you wanna feel like you’re living inside an Arboretum, this place is for you, complete with geckos to keep you company. The plants are amazing and the view is spectacular.
This place is a respite of peace and tranquility! It’s close to highway and has an amazing view of ocean! Our host was A in communication, kindness and helpful with the local area! She invited us to take advantage of many beach toys and items which made our beach trips even more comfortable! And the fresh fruit right outside our door was an unexpected but beautiful treat everyday!!!
We spent several days at Linda's place and couldn't have asked for anything better. The house has so many intricate details, everything you could possibly need and feels cozy. Linda is an amazing and generous host, we loved all the fruit.
I can’t say enough about our stay at Hale Meow Meow. Not only is it in a beautiful garden setting but also has a gorgeous view of the sunset over the ocean. Linda is an incredible host and made us feel extremely welcome. When I come back to the Big Isle, I will definitely be staying here.
Quaint Accommodations Surrounded by Beautiful Gardens
Great place to stay to get a true Hawaiian experience. Linda was a great host, very helpful. The fresh fruit from Linda's gardens was delicious. Ask Linda for a tour of the garden if you get a chance. She takes great pride in it and loves to show people around.
We spent four magical nights and enjoyed every minute, the house, the lovely gardens, the sunset views, and all the DVDs to watch in the evenings. Plus the host! She is a jeweller and made me an exquisite necklace during my stay. Will definitely return for more!
Our family had an amazing time at Hale Meow Meow. We appreciated Linda's hospitality and daily delivery of fresh fruit. This was our favorite place to stay on the Big Island.

Our host was very friendly and made our stay very enjoyable. The house comfortably accommodated my group of four and the amenities allowed us to really enjoy all that the house had to offer.

About the host

My parents met and got married on Oahu in the mid 1940s. My mother was a pilot and mechanic at Hickam Field. They moved to Georgia and I grew up there. I bought this land with my sister and mother and moved to Hawaii. I have spent much of my life traveling the world and now my sister has moved and i stayed and i am a jewelry designer. I still travel to Asia a lot searching for treasures for my jewelry, and have started this vacation home and the farming. I love plants and animals so this life has been great.
Why they chose this property
When I first saw this property it was nothing but a thing called christmas berry but I knew it was where I should be. It was a long slow process turning it into what it is today, but worth every bit of it. Now, I just love being here.
