The property is super clean, well decorated and maintained. The host is very helpful and responsive to messages. It is important to know that the property is on a hill with a deep gravel driveway. It is also important to know that the 3 bedrooms are all upstairs. The trash cans are at the bottom of the driveway and that can be a bit of a problem if you have a smaller vehicle as you are responsible for taking the trash down to the end of the driveway. I would definitely recommend this property and host.

Peaceful perfection! Beautiful home in a quiet location- yet still close to everything. We travel a lot and this was by far the most welcoming accommodations we have experienced. It felt like walking into home. Beautifully decorated and thoughtfully prepared.

Pickett’s Place is a treasure! Communicating with Lori could not have been more pleasant. Her home is very warm and welcoming. The home is very well appointed with all the typical items a home will have for a family. The interior is beautifully done with such items as a cozy blanket, a suit rack for clothing, comfy furniture, and quite literally the most comfortable bedding. The location is serene but just a quick 15 minute drive to Athens and Ohio University.

Hi there! I was born in Athens and grew up right here at Pickett's Place back in the 1970s. My dad raised chickens and spent over 20 years driving the Meigs County Bookmobile, bringing stories to every corner of the county. In 2023, we decided it was time to breathe new life into our old family home - a beautiful house that stood since the 1800s. Though we live in Florida, we spend lots of time here fixing it up and watching the sunset from the porch. This place holds so many memories for us, and we've loved turning it into a cozy, peaceful retreat that others can enjoy. We hope you love your stay at Pickett's Place as much as we've loved bringing it back to life!

Why they chose this property

What we enjoy most about this area is the feeling of space and calm. You're close enough to town to pick up what you need, but far enough away to truly relax. Downtown Athens or Pomeroy is about 15-20 minutes away and full of local favorites, from cozy diners and coffee stops to antique stores and small town boutiques. Families love exploring the nearby parks, visiting the local farmers market, or taking scenic drives through the rolling hills in Meigs and Athens County. If your looking for a day outdoors, there are plenty of nearby options - hiking trails, fishing spots and places to picnic or let the kids run around. Strouds Run State Park, Forked Run State Park, Hocking Hills State Park, Athens Farmers Market, Dairy Barn Arts Center are all local favorites and a short drive from Pickett's Place.

What makes this property unique

Pickett's Place is more that just a farmhouse - it's a place where families can slow down and make memories together. Built in the 1800s and lovingly restored, it still carries the charm of simpler times, from the creak of the old floors to the wide front porch perfect for morning coffee or evening chats. Here, kids can run and play while grownups unwind and reconnect. The peaceful setting offers room to breathe - with open skies, quiet nights, and that unmistakable feeling of home. We've poured our hearts into bringing this house back to life, and we hope your family feels the same warmth, comfort, and joy that ours has for generations.
