First time to this area. The chalet/house was plenty big enough for us 8. It was a bit dated but we had an awesome time here. Would definitely recommend a stay!
The house sits on a nice piece of property. Plenty of room for large groups. Clean rooms but the well water did have a strong odor.

Thank you for the review Andy. The house does have well water and the smell can be minimalized with our water maintenance system.

Nice Getaway Place!
Very nice, clean spacious place! Seven of our family stayed here, enjoyed a nice campfire and visiting. Very close to Route 90 so a bit noisey when outside but tolerable. Close to lots of restaurants, wineries, and things to do.

Thank you for the nice review. The chalet is close enough to route 90 to make it easy to get to and from all the activities. There also is a beautiful stretch of 20 acres of fields and giant spruce trees in between the chalet and the route that we have chosen to leave natural. It provides a great opportunity for bird watching from the decks or the vineyard.
It was a spectacular accomodations. Room for 11 golfers to all sleep comfortably. The outside areas were perfect for us to sit around and play games and enjoy each other's company.
We liked the location and the property very much. Close to the Geneva beach. Lots of space for big groups. Clean with good carpets! Definitely recommended!!
House was very clean and spacious. Great location to visit the wineries in the area. Plenty of games to entertain in the evening. Only negative was the strong odor to the well water.

Girls Weekend!
We came for a girl's weekend, and everything was perfect! The property was way more spacious than we had thought, which was great! The house had everything we needed, and the location was perfect. It was easy for us to travel to GOTL and visit wineries. The outside property was also great! I would recommend this house to anyone who was going to visit Geneva!
This was a great property with numerous amenities like the fishing pond, gazebo and fire pit. The occasion was the annual brothers and sons "mancation" and there was plenty of room for everyone. There was confusion about the code to gain entry into the house but it was resolved after contacting the property owner. We highly recommend!

Very spacious and clean. Fun place to stay in winery country. Can use some updating - microwavable plates, older towels. No soap in bathrooms. Water filter needed replacing as had a strong sulfer smell. Not all ac units had their own remote. One of them leaked inside. A printed manual would have been nice to look at for ideas where to eat or places that delivered. 1 of the 4 bdrms is not private. Have to walk through it to get to another one. Could use a bed, pull out couch, or air mattress in basement for more privacy. For the amount of time we spent there, it was a good value and we would rent again. Owner is very attentive, communicates well, and is very accommodating. With some work this would make a great little B&B / Winery.

This house, property and area were fantastic!
This was a great rental in the heart of wine and apparently covered bridge country in Ohio. The house was very close to about 3-4 wineries with a total of 19 within a 20-30 minute drive of the house. Lake Erie, Geneva on the Lake and the Geneva State Park were a short drive away. There's a beach in the state park and several wineries in the quaint town nearby.
Being so close to everything was great on top of the already wonderful house. The house has a ton of space on a secluded property with bedrooms that are fantastic! All the bedrooms have new beds with new linen and individual heat/AC units. The bathrooms were very roomy, clean and modern with plenty of towels provided. There are also three large common areas to hang out in or you can head out to the gazebo and fire pit and have a campfire outside.
Overall we had a great time and will be planning another trip soon!

WASP PROBLEM
Went for a bachelorette weekend. One of the rooms was INFESTED with wasps and the owner didn't seem to care. There were electric bug killers on hand and the problem was known. The owner's family was there the weekend before in discussion. Literally, piles of wasps on the floor in the bedroom at the top of the stairs. Luckily, I received a $50 refund from a $1,000 weekend stay. Infuriating. Tried to call multiple times and had neighbors 'spray' a can. Not adequate for this level of infestation. ALSO, and it was NOT advertised prior to reserving that he does wine tasting in the basement on the weekends!! Not mention it wasn't on his website at the time and nonchalant detail stated on the phone the day we arrived. Random people parked, in the gazebo and had free roam on our weekend. We didn't feel comfortable leaving our belongings because again, this wasn't advertised and the owner didn't give us a plan of security. Absolutely ruined our girls weekend.

Heather,
Again, our apology for the inconvenience caused by the discovery of wasps during your stay last August, 2017. Upon bringing the discovery to our attention, we immediately (within 2 hours and while you were visiting neighboring wineries) had our maintenance person visit, investigate, and spray the area outside the balcony where wasps were apparently getting in. We also followed up with a visit by Orkin that week to make sure any outside source of wasps had been completely eliminated. In the ten months since your stay, we have had many guests and no reoccurrences by the unwanted visitors.
Although we were not able to honor your request to comp your entire weekend, we were more than willing to provide you with a partial refund for any inconvenience caused by the worry of wasps and the visit by maintenance personnel.
As for the winery, the Chalet is advertised as having a very small on-site winery. It is open on Fridays from 3- 8 pm and Saturdays from 12-8pm. Guests of the Chalet or winery can sit outside, have a glass of wine, or take home a bottle. There is also winery manager on site who also watches the Chalet, provides additional security, and addresses any inquiries of Chalet or Winery guests.
As seen by our many positive reviews, we take the safety & concerns of our guests very seriously. We answer text & phone messages immediately. And if a maintenance issue arises, we get on it right away, even on the weekends.
Thank you again for your understanding in this matter.

Peaceful place for resting, gathering, and adventuring!
I am going to be very honest, I tend to stay away from VRBO's because we are pretty picky about places we stay. We were looking for a place that was close to the Spire Institute where my daughter was participating in a four day swim meet. In addition to my family of four we also had both sets of grandparents along for the trip. The chalet is only a few minutes away from Spire so this seemed like a perfect solution for all of us. It was PERFECT! It was as close to a home away from home that you could get. It was so spacious and comfortable. We were there for 6 nights and 7 days. There were 8 of us and there were still rooms we didn't need to use. It is well stocked and maintained. Very clean! All of the appliances are top-notch. Couches are huge and comfortable. Beds were dressed with plenty of linens and pillows; even better than a hotel.
We enjoyed fishing in the pond, playing games around the table, and watching for deer in our spare time. I saw two of the largest bucks I have ever seen in the bean field behind the vines. I would recommend bringing your binoculars if wildlife interests you. Even though the location is close to Geneva and Geneva-on-the-lake you feel like you are in your own world on the vineyard. So quiet and peaceful! It is a short easy drive to lake Erie and there are so many wineries and even a barn quilt tour you can take. We took a day trip to Niagara Falls which was only about a 2.5 hour drive away.
I would highly recommend the chalet if you need to stay in the Geneva area. You will not be disappointed!

Wow. Thank you for that beautiful review. We try really hard. We also love families such as yours. Please come again for your next event at the Spire and we will give you a discount. We currently have 6 families that are repeat visitors. One family has visited 5 times.
Very spacious home located on a private lot. Owner, Martin, was awesome with communicating with any questions that we had. Older furniture in bedroom missing handles and the drawers could easily fall out. Lots of closet space in the spacious bedrooms. Beds comfortable. Dining room very nice but never used it. Kitchen had great space for eating and playing games and cards at the table. Only 1 bathroom upstairs for 3 bedrooms. 3rd bathroom in basement area. Basement smelled musty, never used it. Great recommendation for dinner at Alessandro's in Ashtabula. Family owned, wait was well worth it. Food selections were awesome. Nicely priced.
This place was amazing. Wonderful little get away spot on a quiet road! Inside is so spacious with TONS of room and space for large groups of people to mingle and have fun! Was perfect for my sisters bachelorette party! Floors were super clean, there were a few stain spots but walking around in white socks for hours and the bottoms were still white, was a huge indicator that this property is well kept up and cleaned properly! The only downside was that the house does have well water, so if you’re not used to that it can be different for you. The grounds are beautiful and we will definitely be looking into staying here again in the future!
Went for a weekend, stayed August 26, and 27th. Had a great time. The chalet is big with all the amenities of home. Want to go again but probably a cooler time of the year. Couldn't enjoy fires because it was so hot. Would definitely recommend.
If you have problems with stairs there is no way to get in without going up stairs. And the rocks at the end of the driveway are a little close together. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay.
There was plenty of room (10 of us). Very scenic area. We enjoyed being so close to Geneva-on-the Lake, but really we spent most of the weekend just enjoying the the views on the property. Planning to return sometime soon.
We spent Thanksgiving week while traveling in Ohio. The house & grounds are beautiful. We wished it wasn't rainy as we wanted to fish in the pond & use the outdoor fire pit, but we were happy to have indoor fireplaces. They even had Christmas decorations & tree put up for us! Kids enjoyed playing in sunroom. Plenty of room for all!

Why they chose this property
This property was passed down to me by my Slovenian parents. However, it is a relatively new build with a distinct European flavor. It is perfect for Ohio's wine country and will remind you of the landscape and vineyards of Austria or Northern Italy.
