About this property

The perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of civilisation.

Situated on a 25 acre rural property with large windows overlooking paddocks dotted with kangaroos. 12kms from Bowral, on the Southern Highlands Wine Trail. A quiet and tranquil getaway. Native ducks, Kookaburra's, Eastern and Crimson Rosellas in abundance. Reverse Cycled air conditioned and wi-fi connected. A wonderful get away for either a weekend or longer stay. This light and airy one bedroom cottage is a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of civilisation. Leaving main roads and street lights far behind, wake up to paddocks of green and a few kangaroos to boot. Although reverse cycle air conditioning is available we find that the warmth from the pot belly fire in winter is unsurpassed. Two single trundle beds are available for extra guests. These would be situated to one side of the generous main living room of the cottage. A selection of books, DVDs and board games are available and guests are encouraged to explore the property and it's surrounds. During the Winter months we light bonfires ( on a number of weekends) and invite our guests to join us for a drink and nibbles around these bonfires.

I am the Customer Service Manager for an international swimwear company. Modern technology allows me to work from home, in a warehouse on a 25 acre property - just over an hour south of Sydney Airport and just under 2 hours from Canberra. I love to cook as well as spend hours on restoring/remodeling old furniture. Our children have left home, leaving what we used to call The Party Room (now Wombiombi Cottage) mostly empty and quiet. My husband has been re-foresting the property for the last 15 years so our native wildlife is returning in abundance. I maintain a vegetable garden which produces plenty of wonderful vegetables and delicious strawberries in summer and just a few less int he mid-winter months. We both love to entertain and as we have family and friends dotted around the world (who regularly visit), it's a constant in our lives.

Why they chose this property

Having decided to move from Sydney to enable our children to grow up in the country as I had done, we came across this property with it's winding driveway which gently slopes down and away from Wombeyan Caves Road, through a stand of native gums/eucalyptus. The distance from the road and the bush frontage blocks works brilliantly in blocking any road noise. Sleep is very peaceful!
