About this property
Elegant Oceanfront 2BR Home with Vast Panoramic Views, Steps from Kehena Beach
The Jewel Box is your private oceanfront retreat perched above Kehena’s ancient lava cliffs. From the lanai, sweeping ocean views unfold—sunrise, sea spray, and the pulse of island life. Dolphins and whales pass by too. This fully stocked home is a short walk to Kehena Black Sand Beach, perhaps the most magical place on Hawai‘i. Nearby, Volcanoes National Park is a breathtaking place to explore—and if Pele, Hawai‘i’s volcano goddess is stirring, you’ll be close enough to witness her fiery dance!
From Your Host
"I didn’t set out to become a host—I just stumbled into paradise and couldn’t keep it to myself. Kehena’s wild beauty, lava cliffs, and soulful rhythm pulled me in. Now I get to share it with guests from around the world. The Jewel Box is my gift to travelers: a little sea spray, a little lava, and a lot of soul. I hope you feel the magic here, just as I did."
—Adam
Oceanfront living — panoramic views of the Pacific from every lanai
Two private king suites — each with ensuite bath and ceiling fan
Fully equipped kitchen — modern appliances and pantry basics
1-Gig high-speed Wi-Fi — peaceful corners perfect for remote work
Smart TV, books, and board games for quiet evenings
Stargazing deck — your private spot to watch the Milky Way appear
Guests occasionally see dolphins or whales (in season) right from the lanai—though sightings are a matter of grace and timing.
The home was once managed corporately but is now lovingly hosted by its owner, Adam, who welcomes each guest personally with warmth and aloha.
The Neighborhood
Kehena Black Sand Beach: A short walk down the Red Road—secluded, scenic, and peaceful
Pohoiki Black Sand Beach: 20 min drive. A dramatic new shoreline born from the 2018 eruption
Uncle Robert’s Night Market (Wednesdays): 5-10 min drive. Music, food, art, and community
Pāhoa Village: 20 min drive. Local shops, eateries, bakery, and weekend farmers markets
Seaview Drum Circle (Sundays): 5 min drive / 15 min walk. Sunset drumming and dancing at Seaview Park—a joyful, free‑spirited local tradition
Kaimū Farmers Market (Saturdays): 5-10 min drive. Fresh tropical fruit, hot food, crafts, and live music in a lively open‑air setting
Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park: 45 min drive. Explore lava flows, tubes, and volcanic landscapes
Easy access to Hilo’s waterfalls, rainforest drives, and outdoor markets. 1 hour drive
Guests have full access to the entire home except for the downstairs small exterior studio, which is used for storage and housekeeping supplies. Only our cleaning team accesses that space though you’re welcome to carefully walk down the steps to the lower deck and enjoy the unobstructed view.
At night, here you can relax under the stars —the sound of waves below, the vast Pacific beyond, and a sky alive with constellations. It’s a phenomenal spot for nighttime magic.
I’m Adam Weiss, your personal host and the proud owner of The Jewel Box.
I transitioned this home from a corporate management organization to direct hosting to offer a more soulful, hands-on experience—with the same high standards, plus a more personal touch and dedicated local support.
I’m available throughout your stay by text, phone, or email. Feel free to communicate with me as much as you’d like!
My on-island cohost lives in the neighborhood and can assist if anything comes up.
At The Jewel Box, steady trade winds cool the home naturally, flowing through screened windows and doors. Mornings and evenings are breezy and comfortable—in the low 70s°F. Midday temperatures can reach the mid-80s°F. Most guests find the natural airflow pleasant, but if AC is essential to your comfort, this may not be the right fit.
A Note on Nature: Jungle Life at Kehena
We do our best to keep nature outside, but this is the jungle, and it likes to mingle.
You’ll likely meet our friendly house geckos—harmless, beautiful and considered good luck in Hawai‘i.
As for insects, most are just curious passersby, looking for their late-night snacks.
The only biters are mosquitoes, who tend to come out around sunset.
Nothing here is dangerous, but if you’re not on friendly terms with the insect world, please keep that in mind when choosing where to stay.
Home includes free parking and an exterior security camera for safety
